Fun fact: The Pledge of Allegiance was written by a priest named Francis Bellamy in 1892. He made sure to NOT include God at all or in anyway to make a point that there MUST be a separation between Church and State. Later, because of the 1950's Communist scare the Pledge of Allegiance was edited include God. Communism is explicitly Atheist and forbids Religion. There also used to be a ton of rules about saluting the flag during the pledge. The original 1892 Pledge of Allegiance: "I pledge allegiance to my Flag and the Republic for which it stands, one nation, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all."
