Beginners, NEVER do this. Me, being a master, advise you to never go there unless you have proper gear. Always build a beginner base in the safe shallows. (That’s where you spawn)

I built a base in the Underwater Islands back in Early Development, back when it wasn’t so dark during the day time.

Mines safe shallows for now but I have killed 3 of the reapers in the dunes so I’ll move there when I’m done. the safe depths.

Mine are usually built built in either the grand reef, bulb zone, or on the edge of the void. My favorite place for a base is next to the giant cove tree.

Mine's in a semi-circle around the crashed meteor! Have a ladder up to the edge so I can watch the Reaper hunt in the Dunes :)

i have many large bases but main one is safe shallows because i started there first, but my cage base for aurora reaper is also big

I found it incrdibly hard to manage, but i wouldn't call it completely useless. Having a mobile base was useful when i reached the last parts of the game and needed to stay in the deep for a while. I would get in the prawn and do my exploring, then head back to the cyclops to use the fabricator or get my marblemelons. But damn how those power cells drain when you've hardly done anything with the thing. I ended up building 12+ power fells for it, with three chargers, and it was still hard to manage. It was only after i finished the deep areas that i discovered the thermal charger blueprints for it, so maybe if i had that, i would've managed the cyclops easier.

Im considering on building a containment observatory in the void with a tube that goes back to a safer biome
