    I'm very interested in wood sculpture and curious about the model of your Stihl chainsaw.

    • @neilthecarver
      @neilthecarver 9 месяцев назад

      Stihl makes a line of battery powered saws. The batteries are expensive but the saw is quiet and can be used inside a shop. The bar and chain are specially designed for carving. The model I have is an older msa160 but they make newer more powerful models. Be sure to operate the saw safely.

    Hello Sir, Could you please give me the details of the chainsaw you used in this video? You gave us very informative things through this, especially the explanation with 3D model. Did you make it in 3Dmax software or something else, will work with Android smartphones?

    • @neilzcoxwoodcarving
      @neilzcoxwoodcarving 3 года назад

      The saw is a battery powered Stihl chainsaw with a carving bar and chain. Please be very careful when using any chainsaw. The carving bar allows you to create more detail than a regular bar. The battery power is quieter and can be used indoors. I used makehuman software for the 3D model and then refined it with zbrush. After that I animated it with Blender. I work with a regular desktop pc and I'm not sure if this can be done with an Android smartphone. I hope this helps.

    Hi, I'd like to ask you how you blocked the sculpture.

    • @neilthecarver
      @neilthecarver 3 года назад

      hello deli rio, Perhaps the blocking out is somewhat simplified in the video. For a carving like this I work directly in the wood. However I encourage people to use good research and from your research you could trace the outline of the face from the side and the front and cut down to those contours. If you make a clay model you can even make some rough measurements. None of this is easy in the beginning, but with practice things get better. I hope this helps
