I only agree with IGN cause I'm no longer a Mario fan, Sonic fan and Nintendo fan, cause I mean, so what? Nintendo is for kids anyway cause I would not recommend playing any of those trashy games besides what other people are playing anyways.

The Brothership review was so insulting that is causing the Daleks, Bowser’s army, the Eggman Empire, all the Captain Planet villains, Nick O’ Teen, the umbrella corporation, the administrator, lord Farquad, death from puss in boots, Dracula from castlevania, and even Tricky the clown to all team up to hunt down IGN in all timelines, sadly they did not get to this one before the review came out.

Reminder that the original Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire got a better score from IGN than its remake despite having just about the same amount of water as the remake.

I don't agree with IGN either, it's not a 5. But it certainly does have alot of problems. The pacing, the dialog, not enough bowser, etc. The characters are overall very boring and whenever they try to give them any sort of meaning by giving them a sidequest or something I didn't care because they are just not interesting enough for me to pay attention.

You should watch reviewers that you tend to agree with, as they likely represent your tastes. We get problems when a reviewer (in the form of IGN) becomes prolific enough to effectively represents everyone in the eyes of the layman consumer/investor.

Based on my experience so far with Brothership, id rank the series in this order from best to good (havent had a bad experience yet): 1: Bowser's Inside Story 2: Partners in Time 3: Brothership 4: Superstar Saga (Havent played Dream Team or Paper Jam, so no opinion there) Its been a while since ive played the others besides Brothership, but i dont feel like based on what i remember from them that Brothership has been a dissapointment in comparison. Also I have ZERO clue why people are mad about the Luigi button and him doing things automatically! Like you're mad you dont have to rhythmically press A and B everytime you reach a ledge to jump over? It feels like a natural evolution to how Partners in Time and Bowser's Inside Story let you solve puzzles by switching between the Babies and Bowser respectively. You just get to work simultaneously now, i dont really see the downside besides nostalgia for how things used to be.

As a M&L fan since childhood, I’d give it a 7. I believe the game doesn’t match up to the first 3 in the series, but it is definitely not a bad game, certainly not 5/10 type game.

Honestly yeah i think it would be best to not listen to most game reviews since there usually biased. Sometimes its better to watch gameplay on a video or something for yourself and see if you would like it or not

Moral of the story, use reviews as small appetizers for what you think you will like and use your own UNIQUE opinion to truly judge what you actually like. As long as your happy or it brought some form of emotion to you other peoples opinions shouldn't matter

I've seen some stuff people cite as bad, like the loading times, Luigi's mechanics, beginning pacing, the writing, etc. I do find some issue with some of those qualities, but I still give the game a higher value than IGN's 5 lol

I rarely ever get interested into views and mostly go with my gut or what interests me. Being disappointed or confused by ratings the few times I did look up out of curiosity did not help either.

look im going to sound dumb but i mostly agree THIS IS NOT THAT GOOD OF A GAME literally just BECAUSE THE SAILING IS THE SINGLE WOST THING EVER no joke i take allllllllll the stuns in old overwatch and all the old shileds and fight them all at onece over spending any more time on that ship my playtime for bis(bowsers inside story) was about 20 hours give or take as i also went for 100% THIS GAME INSTEAD TOOK ME 70 HOURS TO JUST COMPLETE just as a reference it took me 80h to 100% COMPLETE BRETH OF THE WILD and that is an open world god dam sandbox literally just remove the sailing and also missable quests and instantly the game gets a 8/10

Boss pretty much hit the nail on the subject of only looking at the scores. Don't rely on scores only. it's why i don't really listen to the gaming magazines and their scores. and lots of the times it ain't the same reviewer. So following a community or a streamer with similar tastes to mine just works better for me if i really want to check out a game. i rarely go for those AAA games, which get propped up more by game journos. no hate towards AAA, most are good, but i love hidden gems. i like looking for hidden gems and so Boss has been one of those streamers who i listen to for any gems i might like

The real headache for me is when they give a glowing review to a game that doesn't even work on launch. If a busted game that chokes on its own assets and lights your computer on fire has an 8.5, then these numbers are junk. That's not to say the game can't be reconsidered once it works, but the game refusing to function or literally being unplayable on PC should hurt it terribly

IGN in particular is one of the main reasons I stopped really caring about “professional game reviewers”. Sure general review scores can give you an idea of what the game’s quality might be; but the best judge of quality is yourself. When you’ve played so many games over the years, you know what the basic requirements are for a good game, and you know what kind of stuff you like in those games. You’re the one buying it for yourself (usually), so whether you love or hate the game, it should be because you actually gave it a proper shot and formed your own opinion, not because of some hack using their big name to tell you what they think your opinion of the game should be. The fact that IGN rated Brothership so low while everyone else gave it 8 or 9 shows they deliberately want this game to fail and make Nintendo think it’s not worth bringing back Mario & Luigi. So thank you for seeing through their BS, I definitely agree with you! I certainly hope other people do the same as well!

I've been loving this game a lot. It's not often a game gets me to care about doing sidequests but I've been happy to do every single side quest in this game. I don't like some of the changes like Luigi being an AI and not just sticking to behind Mario, or how Luigi auto jumps onto ledges without the player's input. I can look past that and stay this is probably a 7/10 for me. It's fun, it's a good game, but it doesn't do much to really stand out from the rest of the series. It also takes way too long to get your first bros move in this game.

The game is flawed but despite that it’s one of my favorites in the series. It’s really fun! There are valid criticisms to be said, but not nearly enough to drag it down to a 5. At lowest for me, it’d be an 8.

This was randomly dropped on my feed, so I'm not sure how it got here, but it's all very valid! Between this and the Cuphead incident, a lot of game reviewers have been shown to be simply untrustworthy if not outright incompetent, and are not a good representation of the community as a whole. The problem I find is that if you do the "I like this/dislike this" system, you kind of have to have a large consensus, and that's not a feasible option with a panel of reviewers who probably have to make judgment on twenty games per week or so, collectively. So, you rely on the community; who, again, can manipulate votes based on their own ideas. TF2 was once "Overwhelmingly Negative" on Steam, remember! (For good reason, the bot situation was absurd, but still.) Either way, there's no one "fit all" solution. You kind of have to gauge a lot of sources if you want to decide based on reviews, which sucks, but it's what it's.

I actually do agree with too much water. Water routes suck most of the time and hoenn is half water routes, but I agree, that it is better then a 7.8/10 Btw never base your decision to buy a game on reviews from game critics. It really doesn't say much about the game. A good example would be The Last of Us Part 2. Critics loved it, but the fans hated it (There are probably some people who like it and it does look awesome and the gameplay probably is fine. The thing is, fans hate how characters are depicted in the game because of the context of the first game and for a sequel context does matter)
