Cyril Scott - Tallahassee Suite Op.73 No.4
I have heard an orchestral version of the Shepherd Song. Love Quilter. 🎶 ❤
Sublime! Thanks for the UL. Regards, Gus.
Thank you very much for this score-video, and all of the other work you do to preserve the oeuvres of the Five on RUclips. I first sang Quilter's work in high school ("Go, Lovely Rose" - what else?) and have gotten to know his songs more and more over the intervening years - probably, on the whole, my favourite songwriter in English after Finzi. I could never find a score of this collection and only recently discovered that "Fill a Glass with Golden Wine" was the third song in the set - so stumbling upon this was a pleasant surprise! Many thanks again.
My pleasure, and I really mean it. Quilter is a real joy to listen to.
Espectacular.❤
What charming pieces! Thanks for sharing.
7:41 If you're familiar with classic Warner Brothers cartoons, you'll recall that there's a recurring gag involving this tune.
Inmensamente bella está obra, conmovedor.
Canções maravilhosas e um talentoso cantor!!!!!! Amei!!!!!!!
Fellow could sure write a melody.

Wonderful!
Indeed. Some of Quilter's songs may be accused of being somewhat over-sweet and sentimental, not to mention the occasionally very poor choice of texts, but one can never fault his music for is a lack of elegance or deficient part-writing.
wonderful
last chance to look at me hector
When and where was that recorded?
Now you are asking me, of course, when and where that was recorded. It is a good and healthy thing to pause from time to time (if time permits, naturally), and ask yourself, earnestly and honestly, when and where that was recorded. As fate would have it, I too sometimes pause (if time permits, naturally), and ask myself, when and where was that recorded, all very earnestly and honestly. Well, James Rogers, I will tell you when and where that was recorded, because like you, I have been pondering these questions, these very questions which form the backbone of Western thought, ever since I have started asking them. I am able to tell you when and where that was recorded, because I have been able to uncover that very information, that very information you and I and everyone else is looking for, namely when and where that was recorded. Anyway, 14 and 15 March 1998, Blackheath Halls, London.
what
@@matthewlewiscomposer I think my response was perfectly clear, but in case of persistent uncertainties I will gladly clarify, provided that you formulate your questions in complete sentences. Kind regards, The channel manager
If it be so greatly please you, owner of the account dedicated to the repertoire of the unofficial Frankfurt Five, I am most pleased with this recording and uploaded that you have so kindly and gratefully gifted. I am particularly fond of the wild music that is of the Australian composer, who be so called as Percy Aldridge Grainger. To summarise in full detail, I am content with this upload and have great thankfulness for your contribution towards the platform, titled as such, RUclips.
So beautiful❤️🎼🎹Thanks
There is GENIUS Here !📣📣📣📣
When Brahms Reborn!!
First one almost sounds like a grieg lyric piece
Percy Grainger and Roger Quilter were avid admirers of Grieg's work, so I wouldn't be all too surprised if Balfour Gardiner was influenced by the Norwegian as well.
Shiiii nice music!!!
Can I ask the manufacture of the piano on which these pieces are played? It has a lovely tone.
I'm afraid I'm unable to help you out there.
Badass!
Fantastic!! 👏👏👏👏👏🌹🌹🌹
He was a hidden gem. Shining through depths of seas and little to known. He done his job on outstanding , honouring the Jazz period. Wish he live up today.
Wonderful pieces. Where can one obtain the score?
@@UnofficialFrankfurtFive Thanks so much.
Such a distinctive melodic and chordal style. Beautiful music that touches the soul.
That's an excellent description of the entirety of Quilter's œuvre. He is best known for his art songs, and I strongly recommend that you give them a listen if you are unfamiliar with them.
These are really nice
As is your comment.
Garbage, not music.
Omg!!! Thank you for posting this. The classical music station where I live uses "Goblins" in their commercial breaks. Haven't been able to find the piece until now. Thank you
Glad to be of help.
beautiful works
tysm for doing these <333
My pleasure.
oh my... what absolute beauties. Thanks a ton for your uploads!
My pleasure, although my schedule is rather irregular, you have to admit.
@@UnofficialFrankfurtFive great things take time ;)
Oh I’m really glad to have found this new upload!
Wow, I really like the no. 2. Thanks a lot for sharing these with us!
My pleasure.
That’s another true pearl. I think I’m going to replace lots of Beethoven and Brahms from my upcoming recitals, adding some Scott, Warlock, Quilter, Rubbra...
Please don't drop the Brahms. Drop some Chopin instead...
@@UnofficialFrankfurtFive Not dropping anything, actually. But including something.
@@lorenzopone869 That's good to hear. I hope the Scott piano quartet was to your liking.
@@UnofficialFrankfurtFive I was actually glad you uploaded it, but being honest I couldn't listen yet 😇😅. I put it on my watch later list.
@@UnofficialFrankfurtFive whattttt dont drop chopin!!?
Thanks a lot for the whole channel. I'm researching about the Frankfurt Group, and I could barely find a few materials. Essays, bios and analysis, especially, seem to be limited to a very small number of unavailable works...
My pleasure. As far as I can tell, Grainger is by far the best documented of the group, perhaps due in part to his larger-than-life, eccentric personality. I have read Valerie Langfield's superb biography of Quilter and can highly recommend it. It contains a complete catalogue of Quilter's œuvre, and I was quite shocked to discover that several of his compositions have never even been published. I had intended to upload some works by Quilter, but admittedly lost a bit of interest in maintaining this channel. I would love to make a video for his "Non Nobis, Domine", but I cannot find a decent recording for the life of me. Scott has always been my favourite of the group, and fortunately many of his works are available on cd. Gardiner left very little music and O'Neill wrote predominantly for the theatre, so it is not easy to find recordings and material about them, although there is a dedicated O'Neill website and a biography by Derek Hudson. There is a youtube channel called "Musical Treasures" which has lots of rare Grainger scores and resources. Cheers!
@@UnofficialFrankfurtFive Thanks a lot for such a passionate and detailed answer! Please, maintain the channel lol!
@@UnofficialFrankfurtFive I was thinking they might even be the Pre-Raphaelite of music, as group! I would include Warlock in this, even though he wasn't a member of the group.
Thanks for this! What a fabulous piece. One of the very greatest ever.
My pleasure. Mr. Gardiner may not have been a great composer, but he certainly wrote some very enjoyable music (give his "Overture to a Comedy" a listen). Unfortunately, he destroyed a lot of his works.
@@UnofficialFrankfurtFive Thanks! I will do that. I read about his destroying his own stuff. So unfortunate. This piece is one of the very dearest in all musical lit, in my opinion. Just magical. It evokes a nostalgia for a feeling and emotion that may never have existed.
