love how this reframes the retroactive justification from chicago as the paranoia building up in homura's mind as she's pushed to her final act. by the end of rebellion, there is no doubt in homura's mind that she and kyubey are both reaching for madoka. also, beautiful frenetic editing, i love this

I think there's 4 reasons for why Homura was powerful enough to do this all to Madoka and to turn into a god herself 1. Yknow how Kyubey said that because of how many timeline are tied to Madoka, Madoka is extremely powerful? Well... Those ties work both ways! Those timelines weren't just focused on Madoka. They were focused on HER saving Madoka. Thus, she's got the same amount of power, but it took this long to realize it. 2. Sheer unadulterated trauma. Her mind is so heavily traumatized that even the Incubators' invention of the Seeds can't hold in all of her grief! 3. I said, she has just as much magical potential as Madoka. The timelines are tied to her as well, but Kyubey was so focused on Madoka's power that it underestimated Homura's potential. And this entire time, her wish has been to save Madoka. And if Madoka is now a god... Only another God can rescue Madoka from her fate! 4. The two wishes are in paradoxical conflict. See, Madoka wished to become a god and stop all of the witches. So, once Kyubey's barrier over the witch!Homura's world was broken, you would think Gadoka could come take her to heaven or whatever. But... Homura wished to save Madoka. And Homura gets to decide what "saving" her means. And... She doesn't believe that she's saved Modoka yet. So she can't die or her wish would remain unfulfilled. So this causes a HUGE paraxocial issue: Madoka's wish means witches aren't allowed in this reality. Due to the same laws of reality, Homura can't die yet because she believes that her own wish hasn't been fulfilled yet. So, according to the laws of Godoka's reality, when the barrier broke, Homura COULDN'T turn into a witch, but she also COULDN'T die. And because of all of these things, there was only one way for reality to make this paradox work: turn Homura into something that ISN'T a witch. And due to the magic potential she has built up from the repeats, this leads to her being turned... INTO A DIETY So, now Madoka and Homura are both deities, and their wishes still conflict. But Homura might be more powerful than Madoka when it comes to magic. Because Madoka has the power to stop witches from forming, but... Homura isn't a witch. So, magically speaking... Godoka doesn't necessarily have the power to save Homura because Homura now falls outside of Godoka's "jurisdiction". Now, emotionally speaking? That might be the best way Godoka has to winning. But if Godoka wins, is it really a win? If this poor 12 year old girl is unable to be with her family because if she doesn't, people will suffer and die? She can save all the magical girls, but she can never have a home, never enjoy time with her family or normal friends, never be a physical being, again
