    Very cool design! But why pneumatic instead of hydraulic? Weight I figure? But hydraulic should be much stronger and probably more precise. It would be cool to have something like 3D printed valves and actuators to control a large array of chambers. Maybe embed solenoids and pressure sensors and wires. So you'd only need one pressure line and one release line. Or maybe that is not practical.

      It is good to try unconventional techniques. Introducing unnecessary and energy-consuming things, such as electronics, will inevitably complicate the system a lot. Personally, I support liberation from the monopoly of electronics and starting to find alternative systems, whether for control, sensing, or other things.
