The final week before travel. 2 quality Marathon effort sessions and tested out the (old) new Alphafly Eikiden. Thursday was 16.7 miles consisting of 4/4/5 miles at marathon effort (3 and 6 minutes jog between. The last session on Tuesday was 10 miles at marathon effort. Solid block done. Tokyo here I come!

3 weeks to go and I ran my last race pre Tokyo Marathon, the Milford hospice/Milford care center 10k and took the win. Normally I do 16 at marathon pace but running a PB 10 miler the week before was enough stress on the body. Adding another big session around the 10k race would have put me in a hole. 4 weeks to Tokyo marathon!! This week I ran the John Treacy 10 in Dungarvan. Finishing 2nd in 52:00. Thanks to West Waterford AC for an exceptional event. My favourite race and I nearly did what I thought was impossible. Congratulations to Oisin Spillane on the win, Gun to Tape 👏. No recovery run today it was a 2 hour long run around the hills. 7 weeks to Tokyo marathon!! This week I ran the Tom Walsh 10k. To catch up with the seasons I did since the last Video they were; 3x5k at Marathon pace -5/10 second's 10x1k at LT 2:40 time in feet long run on hills. 5k at mp on tired legs. 10 mile at pb MP. Very inspired by your story, I ran a very painful 5 hour marathon so i can appreciate how much hard work it takes, keep up the good work! I am gong for it again in 6 months, if you could put yourself back in my shoes when you started what’s one training method you would focus on to help improve faster or is the key just consistency, thanks John 👍

How much sleep did you end up getting ? Curious because I never sleep myself :D :(
@@asus12354 5 hours in the last few before Berlin. Normally I sleep 7 or less. Not ideal but I used to work shift so my body took time to adjust

I keep getting sacral stress fractures😢 this is my 5th time, miss running so much! Any tips on the rehab?
Oh no! Get a good physiotherapist. Maybe do some form analysis from behind to see how the pelvis/hips are moving. That's not good and something is underlying if you are getting repeated fractures.
How long the recovery without running?
For me 8 weeks with lots of strength and conditioning. It can take longer. I had Ostitis pubis also which happens with this injury. That's harder to treat but atleast knowing will allow you to start the recovery process.
