I get a solid half day of work in, back in the woods. There is a very large tree that fell down in a wind storm last month that is laying over in a couple of the neighbor’s yards. I figure I had better get most of that cleared off their properties to avoid any issues. Good fences make good neighbors, until your tree topples your neighbor’s fence. This video shows me working with my Dewalt 12” c...

WHEW! I am exhausted just watching this!
Unfortunately, two hours later, enough leaves had fallen, it looked like I hadn’t done anything!
@@Small-Town-Steve Huh! That figures!😏
Use a real chain saw not a battery POS
I agree, but for no more than I use it, I have to admit it is nice to basically have no maintenance or upkeep. Anyone who needs one for more than just occasional yard work should be going with gas. I do like the DeWalt for what it is.
That was easier than I thought it would be. Pretty handy little machine!
It’s really nice that you don’t need any tools to make adjustments!
Thats an electric chain saw.
Yeah, it’s nice for what I need it for… a lot less upkeep.
@@Small-Town-Steve I mean the sound clip is of a gas chainsaw
the song was from the 1980’s band Jackyl… I think it was just a minor hit, but somehow it stuck in my mind for the last 30ish years! The problem with electric chainsaws is I can’t recreate this song!!
Yeah try to recreate the song though
That is the one disappointment I have with the electric chainsaw… can’t play Jackyl!!
Great job on the door! These little jobs always turn out to be a lot more involved, don’t they? Good cleanup in your woods, too! Bet you were a little tired by the end of your day, but great to get stuff done!😅
Yes, I was! It was a full day!
Well that is a surprise! They are really quite pretty!
Wow! That is a lot of work! Wish I could move that fast! 😉
All smoke and mirrors
Huh! Learn something new everyday!
Yeah, didn’t even think about that part of the sash when I finished them!
Sad to see a tree go down. Surprised you didn’t get more damage with that kind of wind!
Whew! That was a lot of work! I am exhausted just watching you. Love your woods, but it sure is a lot of work keeping them cleaned up and mowed!
No doubt! Videos like this dispel ‘Small Town Jenn’s’ thought that, “Oh he’s just playing in the woods”!
@@Small-Town-Steve Now that is funny, and also very true! 😂
Oh, the number of times over the years we could have used a tool like that!
It has been a lifesaver quite a few times!
Only works with older vehicles. The newer ones make you gave to pull out multiple components to even get to the light bulbs
That’s right! This is a 2012 Traverse, 2015 on get more complicated!
@@Small-Town-Steve once the Chinese started mass producing cheap electronics it was over for the auto industry
Things certainly seemed simpler back in the day. Have to be an electrical engineer to do much on vehicles today! I’m more mechanical, less electrical!
I like the long handle on that tool! Sure beats leaning over to pop those dandelions out!
It does!
what was wrong with the mower deck for your cub cadet and is the mower still on yet ?
The belt for the deck came off the pulley. It was pretty beat up. Sticks that I had run over get caught up in it and dislodge it. It was old enough that it had stretched and was pretty easy to knock off. The new one is much stiffer and doesn’t come off so easily. I would advise having a new one on hand! Thanks for watching!
Nice clamps!
Yes, they are! It’s amazing how many things I do that I grab one to use as a “third hand” to ready or hold what I’m working on!
Wow! That was a job well done!
Thanks! I had about an hour to mow before getting ready for some grad parties… spent 45 min replacing the belt! Needed done, though.
That is a cool little tool!
Inner City Unit
That is really cool! We enjoy seeing these cool tool videos!
Hi Steve. This is Buzz (recently retired MCTD). I rented one of these and was looking for a video on it and found you! Great video!
Hey! Glad you liked it! HDC is falling apart without you! Hope retirement treats you well!
😳 Yikes!
When you are weak i guess anything can kill you?
"It was deliberate... It was deliberate" 😂😂😂 if I had that clip it would be on here right now. Thank you gimli
We need to have a SawStop for hand saws 😮
Damn almost died right there
Not my style, but appreciate the effort. Id love this with a nice dark, walnut-esque stain; and some light gray walls. Would be cool. I appreciate this is a very vintage door with a lot of ... "love" but you can actually get most of those dents out. As long as t he fibers arent severed, you can use a *very* damp rag and a soldering iron and it kinda steams out the dents. Wont be perfect, but perfect isnt happening here either way. Just depends what youre going for. That door handle is insane though; very nice quality. Guessing you used a lot of naptha and/or mineral spirits here to clean it up?
I’ll have to try that with those gouges! I agree with you on the style, if I could go back in time, I’d definitely search a little more diligently for a house with hardwood trim and doors. When we bought it, we were just excited that it wasn’t typical 1990s casing. Thanks for checking out these videos and commenting! It’s nice to know that someone is out there!!
@@Small-Town-Steve Oh yeah, give it a go! The obvious tricky part is using a 785 degree soldering iron on a piece of wood; use your brain about it, but its wild what kind of dents you can get out. Smaller dents come out with just a cloth like a tshirt and a clothes iron. Go smack a 2x4 with a hammer and you'll be surprised how perfect you can get it to be. Im not sure how id tackle the claw marks on the door handle; but some wood filler and a darker stain would certainly work there as well. And my pleasure! Enjoying the vids lol
One of my hobbies is collecting these types of wrenches; I genuinely love them. Ive never actually seen one like this design before! Its like a hybrid of a couple designs of stuff I do have. Very cool. Looks a bit bent tho lol
Most of the older “cool tools” are from my aunt who was a bio-medical engineer in Denver, and a lifelong maker/woodworker. It’s fun to use these tools and picture all the projects they have been a part of!
@@Small-Town-Steve right on; Ive always wanted to find a very small one of these; they are just better than monkey wrenches in every possible way. Kind of strange how they fell out of favor. Closest thing you can get now are parallel jaw pliers, but those are kind of a different animal.
Just binge watching at this point lol. These are exceptional; what a great find.
These are pretty cool!
Always hated these lol. Cool swag, but not really a useful tool.
This was in my dad’s shop! I remember playing with it as a kid, thinking how cool the hidden screwdrivers were!
hahahaha, Sooo I was writing a paragraph about how this tool is awesome but you can get cheaper ones off like wish (I know I know... but they are genuinely just as good) for 20 bucks. It seems incra learned about this and has sense lowered their prices lmao... .to about 20 bucks. Yeah just get the OG here I guess. These used to be like 80-100 bucks from incra; totally not worth it. The "cheap chinese" ones were likely made in the same place lol; its a laser cut piece of stainless, theres just not a whole lot to screw up here. Anyway, if youre using the slots for cutting, get some tungsten engravers (those cheap ones that look like pens wit hthe screw on tips); and you get a nice reference line, not just a visual indicator. Cool tool indeed.
*since, but Im not sure I want to change what I said originally lol
Agree totally!
Yes, obviously the pullsaw's fault. Maybe you were pushing it too hard...🤔
Pushing it well beyond its limits!
😂😂😂😂😂
The paintholder is also ideal for this job! ruclips.net/user/shortsbTZO-uCc1z0
yes it was way harder than I thought too they said 15 minutes ha
I just put together this sweeper and just had bought a separate dethatcher that I put together couldnt find the attachment boy wished I would have seen this a few days ago. Will work good but just now have to take up twice the space i dont have
It was quite a chore to get it together! I’ve used it a lot this spring and haven’t really used the dethatcer much at all. Overall it really is a time saver!
Wish I could put myself on that speed to get my messes cleaned up!
Now we know where Lydia gets her speed!
do you still have your cubcadet tractor and yardworks lawn sweeper?
Yes, I do. Just spent some time with them this afternoon!
I really enjoy seeing your cool tool videos. This one is so cool. It is amazing to see all these tools someone invented to get the job done!
I agree! Lots of innovation!
Wow! What a time and energy saver!
Yes it is! Thank you!
Handy tool, and you can see it has been well used.
Very good 👍 great video 👍🤝
Thank you! I appreciate the feedback!
Muy rápido 😂😂😂😂
¡Ojalá pudiera trabajar tan rápido!
Looks really good!
Thanks
Nicely done, Small Town Steve!
Thank you!
I like the idea of wet sanding them! Good work!
Yeah, it really smoothed the surface nicely. Couldn’t really see the break after. It blended the glaze and the glue.
Cool tiles… did you buy them as coasters? Or did you make them into coasters?
My Wife bought it as a coaster. Would be a good project, though.
Nice repair work
Thanks 👍
They look nice, do you prefer the shiny brass or when they “dull” up a bit?
Honestly, I like them a little less shiny. But they look good.
Looks like a solid day of work! I’d be interested to see the plan once you get all that raked!
I’m hoping it’ll be done in a week or two… going to try to get some seed down before the spring rains
