Carcass - R**k the Vote Solo Cover || Ibanez RG8-WH
This song and especially this solo go so hard. When I first heard it, I knew I had to learn it. And its fun as hell! No specific reason why I chose the 8-string to play it. I guess its tuning comes the closest to the Carcass tuning. Enjoy!

Johann Sebastian Bach - BWV 997 Gigue || Ibanez GA6CE-AM

This is an attempt at playing some classical music. I tried BWV 997 Double at first but it is way too difficult. BWV 997 Gigue was more at my skill level. So here it is. Little bit sloppy here and there but I'm not professionally trained at classical guitar. Everything self-taught. Recording wise, I was blending two signals. I went line-in from my guitar into my interface and the second signal ...

I got the RG8 walnut flat. I love it
Sounds killer dude, looking at one on marketplace. I think this is going to solidify my choice in getting it, thanks!
This was a great review on the RG8. I've been thinking about purchasing one and this review sold me on the RG8. Perfect for my use case despite its minor (particularly to me) flaws. Very much appreciate this very thorough review.
bro just casually dropped the most heartwrenching solo in a guitar review
End of a chapter Awaken The Master
that's a great tone!
Thank you. It is however no comparison to the real deal but hey, for a bunch of free stuff its not too bad I guess.
Excellent playing man🤘🏻 I upgraded mine with Gotoh locking tuners, hipshot bridge and Fishman Fluence Moderns It's sounds like a $1000 guitar now. (Because it is 😂) Awesome review👍🏻
Thank you! Thats the way to go. Like I said in the video - some new tuners and pickups and it can keep up with way more higher end 8 strings. Cheers! Have fun. :D
Sounds great. Are these the stock pickups, or did you upgrade them?
they look stock actually
They are.
Thank you! Yes, they are the stock pickups. The idea of this review was, to take the guitar out of the box (give it a proper setup) and record a song with the instrument in its default state.
NOT BAD, but it needs more dirty power
Haha yeah. At the end of the day, nothing can beat the original HM-2.
i think the most perfect review of a guitar
Thank you! 🙏🏻
I really liked this because you got the most important thing out of this song: the character of the gigue dance rhythm! Many people play these Bach songs without realizing that they are based on the dance rhythms of the Baroque era, which are actually the "pop music" of that time. You're in a good mood with this music!
Wow thank you! I am quiet the novice when it comes to classical music. But one curious thing I noticed was - when I practiced this passage over and over again, it went especially well, when I really got into that rhythm. It worked on some days and didn't work on others but when it happened, it felt like someone was guiding my hand. Everything felt smoother and more comfortable to play. Cheers, man. You really made my day. :D
It’s so good to see a fellow metal guy that really shows interest in learning some classical guitar pieces. I’ve seen many guys that have no respect for classical guitar, they just assume they can play it whenever they want, but they don’t even attempt it. They tend to think classical guitar is a beginner’s thing, when it’s actually the opposite… Perhaps that’s what makes classical guitar so beautiful , it always sound and look simple and easy, but once you step in, you see how challenging it is
Absolutely true. It's really the opposite. An unwanted string noise sounds way more devastating in a classical guitar than on an electric guitar with distortion. Cheers! 🙏🏻
👍
🙏🏻
awesome demo.. nice
Thank you! 🙏🏻
can you say your wich tune guitar?
Standard 8-string tuning. 👍🏻
Watching the thumbnail: I'm ready for djent Watching the video: beautiful song 😍
Haha yeah man. Djent machines can sound beautiful too. Glad you like it. Cheers. 😁🙏🏻
Thats beautiful, brother, almost wants me to get an electric, but alas!!
Thank you. I think it can also sound good on an acoustic. Work with what you got, brother. Cheers. 🙏🏻
I know u said not to mention, but imma be an ugly bastard and ask for tabs anyway (i have monkey brain and im not able to use my eyes to figure it out) Tho can i ask u what effects did u use? I would also recommend Descent OST 17 - Guitare '1123' its a very nice songing)) *joking lmfao, fire asf cover <3*
Sry dude but no tabs means no tabs. I don't have the time to tab this out. But you could figure it out I think. Makes for good practice. As for effects, I don't remember. I recorded it within Reaper on my PC but basically its just a normal clean tone with a nice reverb.
Beautifully done 💚
Thank you! 😌
"it was too big to be called a guitar. Massive, thick, heavy, and far too distorted. Indeed, it was a heap of raw wood with strings." Awesome stuff my dude
Thank you! 🙏🏻 EDIT: Like I wrote in the description - an 8-string guitar is not necessary. It just happened to be the only guitar at the time that was tuned to standard E. Cheers dude!
Are u German?
I am. You too?
@@guylikesguitar Ja tatsächlich bin ich es auch
How did you get such a nice tone for the rhythm parts!?
I used the Sigma V2 from Audio Assault as an ampsim. Don't really remember which impulse response I used though.
Awesome! 🤍
Thank you! 🙏🏻
Amazing 🎉🔥👍 Saved to my playlist 🎉 Is this standard F# tuning? Or drop E?
Your welcome! 😁 🙏🏻 It is Standard F# as I wanted to test the guitar like coming straight from the factory. For quite some time now, I am using double Drop tuning (EAEADGBE) and it makes things a lot easier when it comes to recording along with a 4 string bass.
sick demo
Thank you!
The paint is pretty bad, I have seen GIO with MUCH better paint. Good Review and nice playing man.
Thank you. Like I said in the video. At this pricepoint it is basically gambling. Might get a pretty one but also might get an ugly one.
Bought the guitar but action was record high, i wonder why. Gonna lower the strings for shure. Its unplayable compared to.my 6 string.. pickup compared to dimarzio is low end compared to high end.
The action on guitars within this pricerange is basically gambling. Mine wasn't record high but it also needed some fair amount of adjusting. I want to upgrade mine with Dimarzio Pickups also. Seems like a good fit.
Sounds pretty great. Sick tone! What do you like about an 8-string? What rhythm guitar tone do you prefer?
I just like the low F#/F/E string sound. It was just a natural progression for me. Starting out on 6 strings, learning about 7 strings and then 8 strings. It just sounds massive imo. I prefer an aggressive tone that has bite, is tight, punchy and defined. For example the album "Dead Heart in a Dead World" by Nevermore or "Heartwork" by Carcass. Those albums have some DEADLY rhythm guitar tone imo.
@@guylikesguitar oh yes, know what you mean. Clear guitar tone they had back then but with added sub bass in the lower freq I've noticed..
tabs?🥺
Nope sry. 😄
Holy moly you can play that 8 string like a boss. I'm headbanging 🤘
Right on, dude! 🤘🏻 Thank you! 🙏🏻 😁
I play a lot worse than you, lol. If it could be said that "you're not good", but if you aren't, i didnt notice. As long as i can slam 2 Ramones chords together, I'm happy.
Thx.
this is just the video i needed, glad to see country and jazz playing included in the sound check (even as someone who doesnt really partake to those genres) really shows just what the guitar sounds like
Thanks man. Glad I could help you. 🙏🏻
man that playthrough was tasty. love the tones throughout as well!
Thank you! Much appreciated. My goal was to compose a song that is not just boring 0-0-0-0 on the 8th string. Cheers! :)
Even though I just started playing guitar recently lol, I've been recently thinking of wanting to try out a 7 and especially an 8 String guitar out for experimentation. Love the heavy sounds of them and been wanting to try some Meshuggah riffs for quite a bit now . And eventually to get a 7 string as well to play songs from Trivium, Korn etc . The 7 string bkack Jackson (think it was the JS22-7), the price of that for a 7 string looks really good . Same with this Ibanez 8 string, look really damn good for the price considering i don't got the money to spend thousands of dollars on one guitar. I'm hoping to get both of these soon.
Awesome man. Good luck with those Meshuggah riffs. I still need to get into those. 😄
@@guylikesguitar I definitely will struggle on them for sure lol 🤣. But man do they look so fun to master . Awesome review btw. Definitely selling me on this more. That showing of the distorted parts definitely sold me on it. The fact it's the out of the box experience made it even better. I use the Spark amp so I got the huge amounts of customizing with the app on my phone for the effects and stuff which will have me doing alot of the experimentation there lol Lovin the spark amp as my first ever amp. Dream come true amp that I've wanted for so long , it's practically one of the reasons I started guitar. Very intrigued to see how the 7 and especially 8 strings sound on it (also the more guitars I have for different tuning settings the better lol got so many songs on my list to practice to always keep me busy but I'm going through so many times of going between Standard E to , drop C to Drop B, D etc on my 2 6 string guitars lol have a 4 string bass well to switch back and forth). Any tips on how to get that mean famous growl tone out of the lower strings ? Where it's little high but low at the same time ( not sure if I'm describing it right lol)
888 like Great review. One of the best I've seen overall, and the best for this guitar.
Awesome! :D
killer playing brother!
Thank you! 🙏🏻
Thak you for the review, but why did you changed the strings ?
Thank you! I explained it in the video. The strings that came stock with this guitar were too thin for me. Cheers! :)
@@guylikesguitar okay and which strings do you recommend ?
@@mat3441 String gauge is very subjective. Some people like thicker strings and some like thinner. It all depends on your playing style. Do you really play with force like Hetfield - use thicker strings. If you have a softer playing style go for thinner strings. On this guitar right now I use a 9 to 42 for the regular 6 strings, a 60 for the 7th string (tuned to A) and a 74 for the 8th string (tuned to E). Cheers!
@@guylikesguitar Thanks, it will be my first guitar so i'm gonna try something not too thick
this is beautiful
Thank you! 🙏🏻 😁
The way you make use of the whole fretboard on an 8 string is a breath of fresh air.
Thank you! That was my plan as too many people in these reviews are just riding on the lowest string.
@@guylikesguitar Did you ever see how it sounds on a clean or slightly distorted channel? I'm super into Polyphia and Chon, and I've been wanting to learn Nightmare but it seems like it'd be hell to play on a 6 string.. since it was recorded on an 8 string. I just kinda want to know if I'll have to replace the pickups if I do purchase this
@@razztastic Did you watch my video until the end? I play some clean stuff near the end, where I demonstrate different sounds and amp settings. I think it works wonderful for cleans. Cheers. :)
so true@@guylikesguitar
Are those Ibanez pickups?
Yes. Stock Ibanez pickups that come with the guitar.
@@guylikesguitar they sound good. Especially for the RG8 I am debating if it’s worth spending the money for the prestige. But this sounds great
@@TheWeekendWarrior762 I made a review this guitar. You can watch it if you need to decide. The RG is imo a pretty solid foundation for a modding project. If you have some more cash on hand, you could certainly buy a prestige, leave it as it is and be happy. :)
SO cool & great my friend
Thanks! 😁
awesome guitar
Thanks!
Very nice! Could you possibly do this with peripherys wildfire sax solo??
Haha, I feared that this question might come up, as I think that the Wildfire solo is more difficult. 😄 I can try for sure but it'll need some time.
jeeesus. that sounds so good
Thank you! :D
nice. guitar is beautiful too
Thank you. It is my most precious Ibanez. 😌
Sweet playing man 👍
Thank you! 😁
so awesome
Thanks! 🙏🏻
Hey can i have Playthrough Tabs? Im new to 8 string guitar. Always play 6 string :)
I appreciate your enthusiasm but I don't have tabs for it. Maybe in the far future but it is not planned right now, sorry. Also there should be some easier 8 string songs to learn. Try Diamond Eyes by Deftones. Cheers. 🤘🏻
@@guylikesguitar Ok thankyou!
Klasse gemachtes Video!
Vielen Dank!
I've had my RG8 since early 2018. I've since put some Tosin Abasi Fishmans in it but thank you for further demonstrating that these stock pickups can sound just fine. A steal of a guitar for $400 at the time.
Absolutely! How are those Fishmans working out for you?
@@guylikesguitar They've been working out really well actually! I have my RG8 tuned to Drop G# with a low D#. So finding the proper string gauges for my taste is my main chase right now 😅 I'm getting close though!
@@chrissgardiner Sounds good. Yeah, I feel ya on the string gauge topic. I have mine in Drop E right now and I had to drill a bigger hole into the tuner to fit that 80 gauge string through there. Won't go lower than E that's for sure. 😅
@@guylikesguitar i bought this same model this year, and the gauge of strings from the factory was not optimal for sure. But in order to be able to use the best gauge, i had to change the tuners. I went with Guitar Monkey Hardware, with the barrel tuner buttons, and asked for .100'' holes in the 7th and 8th strings (no charge option) and went with way thicker strings and i must say, i am very glad i did!! Holds tuning very well. And they are cheaper than Hipshot's options. 🙂
@@c.j.robert5350 Sounds good. I will try out some Gotohs in the future. 😁
