ADT-200A Experiment 001 - Signal path
Просмотров 1183 месяца назад
Subject: Noisy and deaf receiver performance This experiment revealed an incorrectly set signal path from the antenna to the receiver because of misunderstanding the signal routing management on ADT-200A. RX In port was inactivated, and receiver has been set to the external RX ANT port instead. Corrected setup: RX Out (16) is routed to RX In (3) and CONFIG / RX is set to "as TX" now.
Ten-Tec Scout 555 …usable after years?

Ten-Tec Scout 555 …usable after years? No doubt it is collectible item but is it usable on the air without huge restoration and refurbishing? This unit is instable on RX while BW is changing (notice the FLS dot is flashing) and it is chirpy on TX… also sidetone sounds sick. No way, it has to go to clinic for therapy.

Allan, VK2GR is coming thru on 80m band at his SR with amazing signal during FOC Marathon. Used 330m Beverages and it sounds like there is no big difference between 60degs and 90degs antennas. S53V is QRMing his FOC club event. Even he is calling into Allan’s CQ so maybe he has some reception issue. Then after Allan QSYed to 160m where he had also very good sigs here in EU for about 15mins.

Leixen Note (VV-25) - is it really 40W output handheld ?!
Просмотров 3,8 тыс.3 года назад
Many of videos on YT says "it is the first 40W output handheld" on the market or even worse I heard about 80W etc. Marketing guys are always ready to lie in order to raising up their selling numbers... So let's go to measure it using professional test and fully calibrated equipment in order to check what is the real power on the 70cm band. Combined uncertainty is not calculated but if you want ...
MTR-3B on 20m - first power up

First power up of MTR-3B arrived few days ago from Germany... All seems to be ok and it works nice. There is few things to remember: 1. The audio output is designed as stereo output for headphones. If you will plug in the speaker with mono jack then tip would work but the ring and gnd is common contact which makes short circuit when it is plugged in fully. No audio and audio amplifier hates you...

How does it compare to the the K3 below it?
I have this same noise in a bass amplifier (Hartke HA3500). Cutting power to the LEDs on the EQ faders eliminates the issue. Very annoying. Why does this happen? It does not appear that the LEDs are modulated. Where is the noise coming from? The LEDs themselves?
RF gain down and volume up is an old SSB technique.
What SW are you using?

This was a very popular radio, it has a nice sound!
Just got my V3 yesterday .. figured out most of it so far; works great on CW .... this is an impressive radio ...
Parting mine out. Never worked from the day I purchased it new from Gigaparts.
So the key switches between RX and TX? Ingenious.
Does it not have sidetone?
The MX transceiver ownself has not… You can use add-on CW-2S unit for T/R switching and sidetone. In this case MX radio stand alone used. Cheers.
It is HT, so there is PTT switch on the side or you can switch TX/RX using the ext. MIC or using the key like in this case or using external device… primary it is HT and CW is possible also using built-in manual keyer on the top panel!
I love my ruclips.net/video/Fg9bZTZhkYs/видео.html It has an extra wide SSB-Filter ...73, Ralf
So what is your opinion of it so far? What mode do you operate most? How is cw performance?
Thanks for the demo. I ordered mine today. I am looking forward to getting it and trying it out. I currently have G90 which is also a great little radio. 73 my friend.
Dobriden good manipol. Tanks
Cw is ❤ 73
Great video! I noticed your Omni v.9 has a modified keypad - where did you get the enter, shift and clear keys? Are they from a parted-out Omni vi?
A CW dream machine
I used to have OMNI V with 250, 500 Hz filter installed. I think large Case with Good speaker makes difference in sound. as well as quiet 1st Local Oscilator, AG6JU
So how is it compared to the Elecraft
Great video! You addressed one of my my pet peeves involving recent radios: too much effen' gain! Thanks for showing how to make this rig have a quiet receiver.
Lev OK2PLL

A very nice transceiver, it would be good to hear your comments Petr. 73 Will VK5WB
Will, it still needs extensive work on CW application, keying timing and switching with iambic paddle input. It is not ready for serious CW operation yet even with latest software rev. dated May 11th 2023…
Hello Speed means too low 73
Would be nice to see and hear you using the key 😏
mine does not work well on cw and locked in tx burning the tx transistors plus one track ended up getting hot and solder mask burnt off so i tinned the track and put in new transistors.but still very poor cw i have no idea what do do.. jeffrey
Jeff so sorry to hear it. The iambic keying issue is under fix. Also the burning the finals sounds like issue with ALC and overdriving finals. It happened on few units and Farhan sent advisor to not TXing until he will not release fixing build. Update 2-May-23 he is testing on few unit the new build which should solve it. Please wait. Do not be annoyed, it will be fixed soon and you will enjoy your new beast. I believe. 73 Petr
@@petrok1rp254 Thank you for the information ☺️
I am using my unit with external keyer with iambic paddle and it works ok. Using RF drive set to only 40% for low power and not overdriving finals I worked VU, ZL, USA and PY on 20m. But I am recommending to stby for new build fixing these issues. Petr
You welcome Martin. I know it is a bit strange and annoying but Farhan is trying to do his best to fix these major issues. 😉
ok mate how is the cw is the log book working will get mine thursday or friday ..jeff..
Well update 2-May-23 Farhan is testing new build version were should be fixed few issues including iambic keying and logging. Using external keyer works ok (straith key input must be set)
If you test it on ch13 which is mid frequency you'll find it will give out about 23w
What you mean ch13?? As you can see I covered with measurement 431-446MHz…
Good sigs from LZ4408SPA, I love the sound of the RGO One on CW
Nice QSO with K8GL, I really like the RGO One Transceiver.
Nice signs from AD4EB, good QSO.
i use it in my 2nd shack.... with also inrad foofing filter... great receiver! de IK1QHB
On what frequency? There not the same output across the band. I measured my uv25 to 21 watts at 443
As you can here I am saying at the beginning of vid the frequency of Tx is 431MHz.
@@petrok1rp254 two be honest 17 to 20 as advertised on the talkie isn't bad and that isn going to make any difference. But I as I have said I have seen a lot of variation in power output. From 17 to 22. . But as for the 40 output clame that I don't believe. Totally different output stage or if not overdriven and will go pop very soon
@@petrok1rp254 What people are trying to say is; Change the mhz frequency, and you will have a different result.
Do not care other frequencies. I have programmed local repeaters where upling is around 431MHz. That is what I am interesting in…
Thanks for the video.
Mine has a constant S3 white noise background level even with antenna disconnected, on all bands, running on a battery and tested taking it miles away to remote location. End up having to run it with rf gain reduced to 70% and consciously adding 1 or 2 S points to any signal report. Pity DSP units are so expensive; about half the cost of the G90.
Mine too, S3 noise. As much as I love the G90, and fiddling with the gain and filters helps, I ended up buying a 891 and am selling the G90. I don't use the tuner in it.
для мене це відео було корисним....... телеграфісти зрозуміють :) лайк!
Had a few tens in my time.. Something a bit different.. Bloody good rigs
What is the receive like though?
RX front-end is nothing special. It is better than low lost Boafengs but it is still easy to overload on the hills or close to some in-band transmitters. Using mobile it is well usable. Do not recommend to connect big stationery antennas on the house.
Anyway together with external helical BPF it work quite well and surviving even the nearby in-band strong signals.
Absolutely will give this a go, thanks. Similar results with SSB?
220 volt?
No joke. I use mine mobile, and it’s worthless until the RF gain is set below 20.
Does this problem still occur once the ATU has found resonance and has been deselected as per the instructions in the handbook?
My uv-25d puts out anywhere from 21 to 26 ish Depending on UHF and VHF
These are such cool rigs. Great features, very thoughtful design, not overkill on watt output, but above QRP, and remote face, with common vga cord, sortof. I wonder what the grand total G90 units sold have been since around 2018? debut, both editions of firmware...
It is very confusing that on bands with propogation, you struggle to make fringe contacts, that fade in and out and are going to get your ear blasted by someone on short skip trying to get a contact also, or not even aware, when there is steady groundwave-0 propagation bands to test direct range, at anytime of day. With 0 propogations, there will be 0 stations on any band in hf but 10 meters. It is like holding eyecontact with people on the other side of a resturaunt, when you are at a table with people in com range. Do what you enjoy, but it seems nerveracking.
No squelch. 😔
This video helped me. Ignore the haters.
Cheeeeesh! We've been reducing RF Gain on receivers since the 1930's. This is like rediscovering the wheel. You simply reduce the gain to below the noise level. The problem is that each band has a different noise threshold which becomes a lot of trouble when band hopping. This same setting on 10 meters will make the receiver deaf. Thus this is why we have AGC or automatic gain control. With AGC we can leave the RF gain at maximum and strong signals won't overload us however the tradeoff is having to listen to receiver background noise. Pick your poison.
