The Big Banana in the 80's :)
Here's a blast from the past...there are quite a few changes now.
Unfortunately the mono-rail has gone but we now have the addition of a toboggan run, an ice skating rink and a full inflatable water park!

Is the bunyip still at the bottom of the lagoon?
Yes unfortunately
people are so invested they would have likely taken pics if she ever got removed so yes..
no. now resides at a FNQ wildlife park
What's a "good old ozzie char grill"?
Ubicación pls
The Big Banana was way cooler in the 80’s then it is now
Another reason why the 80's were the best! The way the music and the Big Banana jingle is like, the overall aesthetic of the park, the style of direction of the video... Such a pure time! Would love to take a time machine and visit with a Hawaiian shirt, flip flops, and a good tropical drink with it all.... 😇🍹🌴
I see the "bunyip" in the big "bananA".
Billabong bunyip was sink in big banana 🍌 park 6/10

So you’re telling me the laser tag arena wasn’t always an arena? This cant be true lmao I cant imagine it as anything else.
This is like an ad for a real life Goosebumps book 😵
This video needs to be preserved for posterity! It will serve as a reminder and proof for those of us who were too young to remember whether this place was a fever dream or an actual place our parents brought us.
haha, absolutely! This should be in stored in the Australian history archives!
One of my earliest childhood memories is the bunyip. I'm also a little saddened that you can't find a picture of the bunyip anywhere online.
Yes we is the bunyip
2020 anyone ?
Hello!! :^]
Yup
nope :)
You
The monorail should come back again while I wasn’t born back then but it looks great I will have to go to the big banana one day I wonder if some of the facilities are still there like the gardens and bunyip lake etc
The big monorail was still there till it burnt down
What typa shit you on mate?
The banana split is literally the only thing that hasn’t changed
I’m 35 and remember the tour on the monorail we got to interact with, was like a space station
So sad to see no one has posted any photos of the bunyip that emerged from the lake!
Katelyne Orr this comment is 2 years old but if you are still interested there are some photos here www.reddit.com/r/submechanophobia/comments/f1invl/the_animatronic_billabong_bunyip_at_australias/?

Thank you so much for uploading this. I'm 32 years old and when I was 4 my family took me to the big banana. I've been telling them for years "don't you remember the bunyip? Don't you remember the man eating flowers?" nope. They've thought I was crazy. Well finally some God damn evidence has surfaced and I can finally prove my family is wrong.
This is a classic! I went here on a year 5 school excursion in 1996. I'm 31 now, and remember this like it was yesterday. I pity kids these days. They will never experience anything like this. Hell, they probably wouldn't want to anyway, damn hooligans!
I have been searching for years for a photo of the bunyip !
I went in the early 2000s, it was still going then. I'm 27 now, it was a great day!
Futurewaves haha this is me too, convincing my family about all this shit i saw on the train. Thought i made it up😂
Me too! The bunyip was my favourite!
so glad i found this.
