Jesus that finale… such buildup… such amazing voicing. This might be the best
It's unreal, this is definitely my favourite recording ever.
How many encores! He’s an angel. 😊
Today he plays for the of sound. Perfectively. Younger you don’t care , you go ahead 😅
A few flubs
YUja could take some lessons for Erlkonig
Amazing!!!
Hii! thankyou so much for uploading this. I've been roaming around Evgeny Kissin's RUclips videos for a while and i noticed that maybe ur a big fan of him too 😅 I've been saving and searching his old videos for a while even in different languages 😭 and i have a couple of them and i would love to send it to you if you'd like them :))
Hi! Yes, I am a big fan of Evgeny's. I would love to see them! You can find my email on my channel.
Struggente, magico, potente...

I cry when listening to this one
He was such cute boy with pompom head has extraordinary musical talent and purity!!! Love young Kissin! ❤Still one of the greatest musicians!
He was so good at just 19, I find it easier now to understand how he has become the amazing pianist he is today. This is so clearly and neatly articulated, so precise it is unbelievable.
KISSIN…at this consert 19.yers old.!!!! Will will have many years of happyness with him…
He constantly opposes the war.Putin declared him an enemy of Russia. He does not need such people.Evgeny gives many concerts in support of Ukraine.[have admired this genies all my live. And I am happy that he is one of the few Russian musicians who proved himself so worthily during this dis disgusting war. HONOR AND PRAISE TO HIM
Only person I've ever heard play the intro that slowly...and I LOVE IT!! Lol
He’s perfect ❤❤❤❤❤❤now and then…..forever in my heart! The master
This piece breaks me.
Scintillating interpretations, and what astounding articulation he has always displayed!
Can't believe how good this man was already at the age of 19. Total perfection. Made me cry, especially the Schubert Liszt interpretations.
YOU SHOULD HAVE SEEN HIM DOING THE LISZT ETUDES BETTER THAN ANYONE IN HISTORY AT 15 !!!
What stunning coda! Wonderful playing throughout.
Amazing! 44:14 I think Matt Bellamy took this as an inspiration to write Survival.
1:08:04 best piece imo
💐 Bravo 🎹 10:15 🎹
What was the source of this? cause the internet seems to have no record of this recording ever existing, other than this RUclips video
It was uploaded on RUclips in the past and taken down, but I managed to find the uploader and got the audio from him. I asked him where he found it and he said he wasn’t sure. I really have no idea since I tried to find a source as well but had no luck.
Even at this age, I suspect Evgeny must have a wonderful sense of humor. He's seems so fearless. He sees right through the bluff and bluster of Liszt. I also suspect he plays Schubert better than Schubert. His Chopin is both intimate and highly seductive. I wonder who were his artistic heroes? And I bet his teachers are still pissing themselves with pride. Wow. "His star has risen in the east." N.T.
Great! One of the best pianists of our time.bravo!!
Chopin was never this good and he didn't have a Steinway. :)
Wonderful
@ the End from the Last Movement awake a Dragon this is so gigantic goosebumps Moments guaranteed Puh..
I can't be the only one who thinks 3:24 is one of the best parts of the entire ballade
The counterpoint there is very tricky, but absolutely gorgeous!
I agree 100%. There’s something so magical about it. The simplicity of the opening F minor theme is beautiful, but the 3:24’s more emotionally and technically complex variation is absolutely heart wrenching. You can almost hear the notes themselves weeping.
❤
Impossible to describe the feelings this music gives you….
What will a young man of his age do with all those flowers? Start up a florist's shop maybe.
JeffreySaxaphone What about Alma Deutscher the British prodigy who has been composing "classical" music since she was a tiny girl. She played her own violin and piano concertos in anticipated premières. And boy can she improvise. As a little GIRL they gave her a slip of paper with 3 or 4 notes on 3 or 4 notes on it and she imprpvised nifty little pieces based on those notes. Look her up on RUclips. Her opera Cinderella has been played in many countries. Then the USA child prodigy Emily Bear has a solid classical background, has played difficult concertos with orchestras, but she's really a composer. She has composed several movie scores and sweeping compositions - the style? Her own. Emily also plays and composes jazz. She has produced about 13 jazz albums many charted. Her mentor was Quicny Jones who produced her recordings. At age 11 she played at the Montreux jazz festival where Quincy Jones was director (or some important position). At Montreux, Emily had her own jazz group she lead(see on RUclips). Quincy Jones insisted that Emily continue with her classical training as he felt it was the best possible foundation and from there she could do anything. Emily continued with jazz and classical and attended an academy in NYC for writing film scores - I think at Juilliard - was the youngest ever accepted. There is Pletnev the Russian pianist and conductor who does arrangements of Tschaikovsky's ballet music for piano that are gorgeous. John Williams and many composers of scores for films and television are composing scores that are like symphonies. The theme from Shindlers List has entered the classical repertory and is beloved by musicians and audiences. The music for the series Succession by Nicholas Britell is an example of another wonderful classical composer. The NYT said: "Over the four seasons of “Succession,”... he has written something unusual in television: a sprawling yet conceptually focused score that has developed, episode by episode, into a classic theme-and- variations work that would be just as fit for the concert hall as for the small screen." Then there's the prolific Hans Zimmer, Eric Whitacre with his magnificent virtual choirs, Wynton Marsalis who won awards both for his jazz oratorio and his violin concerto, English composer Rachel Portman. Wikipedia lists many, perhaps hundreds for the 21st century. If you start to get into what constitutes classical music that becomes a discussion. Rachmonioff was considered a late romantic composer. Mozart, Hayden classical composers and so forth. Classical music as a genre you are asking ? Still, among those I mentioned are composing in the classical style either with chamber works, sonatas for two instruments as violin piano, concertos, choruses, sweeping symphonic works. Alma Deutscher fits squarely into the classical tradition, but if talking about classical music as a genre they all do. Tip of the iceberg too. I love jazz. Art Tatum is just one example of a genius of jazz improvisation. Art Tatum respected classical music and could play by ear some Bach. Rachmonioff had deep respect, even awe, for Art Tatum. Isn't it better that way? Drawing inspiration from the two genres as they have done for decades and decades, not comparing them in an absurd statement that one is better than the other. Also many classical musicians have crossed over precisely to broaden their musical knowledge. And many jazz musicians started out with classical music. Perhaps a bit of research before making broad unsubstantiated statements would be better? Rachmonioff btw is an undisputed genius. He didn't just write piano concertos but vocal works, chamber music, so much. A genius who lived and enjoyed improvisational jazz and drew inspiration from it in the jazz clubs of Harlem.
Rare to see Kissin perform on a Yamaha...
Haha, probably before he signed with Steinway. He was in Japan after all!
For a much better reading of the Liszt, listen to Perahia. Notice how Perahia’s playing is much lighter and more elegant.also, the Chopin Sonata was so loudly played I couldn’t hear the music. Surely he should consider Chopin’s piano and aesthetic more. Kissin’S playing was deafening most of the time. Almost unbearable. He got much better with age.
Were you present at the recital? We always have to question recording techniques not the pianist?
Do feel free to post your own recording for us to review.

It’s weird how he rocks backwards and forwards. Is that why he hit so many wrong notes?
I have no idea where are the bad and good notes. It is miraculous :D
@@csabaszabo8624listen again from 54:00 - especially the left hand.
@@whoisthispianist194 i dont know why your such a jealous prick. he was 19 at the time and we saw he had become one of the greatest pianists alive today so whats your point?
You are such an ignorant pianist.
What a beautiful musical moment you gave us dear Kissin. Really a precious memory.
When the legend was young
Utter genius.
Thank you for uploading this. I didn’t even know he did this with Mehta in 1996. I thought he only did Rach 3 with Ozawa.😂
Come have a watch of this Rach 3 performance from 1992 Sydney International Piano Competition: ruclips.net/video/l8W3G3l1zuQ/видео.html
He will do it soon with Gewandhaus & Nelsons! :D
Beginning with a mistake in front of such a packed audience must be frightening. The rest is good thankfully.
Nothing bad in making mistakes. It takes a lot of maturity to keep up despite them
@@Alex-iu7dl I agree but on the third note it's uncanny for a player of his range.
@@RoboticsBay he was just 19 FFS, how many people could sit down and play 13 pieces in a row from memory with virtually no mistakes at _any_ age?` Horowitz missed notes or played wrong ones all the way through his career yet he was lauded as one of the best.
@@magnetiktrax I didn't say the contrary, just pointed out a fact
@@RoboticsBay sorry, I overreacted to your comment. He looked pretty nervous in the interview, I guess that had something to do with the performance.
