I often wonder about the genius of musicians from the past. Despite living in the present, I struggle to find the right words to describe their powerful lyrics, as they are often better conveyed through their music videos. It's frustrating to feel stuck in a time when I can only access music through RUclips without being able to create anything myself. I've been listening to Anggun's cover of a song and it's amazing, but nothing beats the original score. I love Bowie and I love Anggun.

I loved Ashes but honestly nothing can beat Life of Mars. That ending, the pure look of glee on Sam’s face. It can’t be matched. And I was lowkey pissed with what they did to him in Ashes lol

It was not only the story, locations and very nice 1970s decor, but for me the use of 70s music. I've dropped into a Dutch transmission with the opening with the chase by the pool with McCartney/Wings - Life and Let Die. Just the rhythm of the montage was out of this world, and so much better than normal TV-series. Recorded the repeat and showed my Dad in 2006 and both were hooked. Too bad they didn't record it on film or HD-videotape, but that would make the decor even more expensive.. That's why in Ashes to Ashes the number of outside shots is more limited.

Good TV programme but I wasn't sure about the ending to be honest. When he was in the past it was mostly a traumatic experience for him and they were hints that the characters around him knew. Like when he walks into the office in the first episode and gene pushes him up against the wall and tells him the year. I thought he was going to go back and he'd be reunited with Maya. Morgan told him his life there was a lie as well when he walked him around the cemetery.

I am going to have to say I did not like this series as to me it was nothing new to me it was just repetitive. That had nothing to do with those involved in it as the parts were well acted.

Great, great series, so clever, shouldnt have worked but did, simm and glenister fantastic, i will never forget end of series ,2, jumping of the roof, stunning, what a finale , total class, loved this show , fabulous , never been anything like it before or since

Every couple of years go all the way through from this episode to the last of Ashes to Ashes, and it always, somehow, has something new for me... maybe just something that I had not noticed on screen before, or makes me have some realisiation of my life that I had never considered.
