How To Fix a Clunking/Popping Door on a Toyota Tundra (Easy, DIY) (2007-2013)
Просмотров 6 тыс.Год назад
This is a very common issue on 2nd generation Toyota tundras. The door check fails and causes a clunk when opening the front door(s). Luckily they’re fairly easy to replace and only require basic hand tools. Part used in this video:
so this is basically a valve cover gasket leak?
@@CoIoneIPanic you have your block which your cylinder head is bolted to, that has a gasket in between, then on top of the head you have a housing for the cams and that has silicone sealing that to the cylinder head. On top of the cam housing is your valve cover which is sealed with a gasket. This repair is quite intensive as the timing cover needs to be removed to remove the chains to remove the cam carrier. So this job calls for somewhere around 20 hours while valve cover gasket replacement likely calls for around 3.
Thanks man appreciate the video
Do you reuse the cam tower bolts? Thanks
I did, yeah. They were not listed as one time use as far as I could tell. The Car Care Nut has a full video on this job if you wanna check that out.
Thanks fixed my 2019 limited tundra on drivers door. I would recommend locktight for that 10mm to frame and stop. Look like it had some on it upon removing.
Thank you this video help me
Thanks to you I did this successfully too!
Thank you for your really good attention to details and explaining them. Wonderful Video. Very helpful.
Do you have a part link?
Great job from a beginner
ARE YOU BY ANY CHANCE IN CENTRAL FLORIDA
Thanks, bruh! my tundra door does the same thing. I will get an OEM one and install it. Thank you for sharing, you have a new sub here.
I’m going to just break mine off what does it really do
Dude great video! Infirmation and step by step. Helped me
30 minute fix on a 2013 Sequoia. Thanks!
Thanks for the video. I would’ve never found the screw behind the door lever trim.
I'll be replacing that on my 2013 Tundra. Thanks for taking the guess work out of the project!
Thanks Corey. Just completed this. Great step by step video and detailed dissection of the parts. Doesn't need to be a fancy production video. It did the job. The Toyota dealer near me wanted $200 CDN for the check strap and another $200 for a mechanic to install it. Savage robbery. Saved me a lot of money with this DIY. Went with the similar strap off of Amazon. Will see how long it'll last. One thing that was different on mine, was when you unplug that electrical block from the window controls. Mine took more time to get out. But when putting it back in, there's a plastic inner latch inside the block that is in the way of it reconnecting. There's two parts to the block. There's a slider piece on the outside of the block that has to be slid all the way out/down for that inner latch to make a clear path in that one hole for that rejoining to happen. Just in case anyone else comes across this scenario. Other than that, all the pieces were the same. Cheers
Thanks for sharing that. I'm glad you saved money, 400 sounds obscene for this repair.
Part link?
Looks like a lot of work.
Super helpful! Thanks for showing which way to pull specific panels off.
Thank you for this video. This helped me fix my 2017 Toyota Tundra. You’re the best!
