Story Time: My Experience On Kids Incorporated
Happy New Year,
My very first memory is wanting to be a stay at home mom & wife like my mom. Then during career day in 4th grade I wanted to be a nurse like my mom. Then shortly thereafter I wanted to be a pediatrician. Then several years later I still knew that I wanted to be a doctor, but my heart couldn’t take seeing sick kids all day so I became a family doctor instead which I love!!!
I'm so glad you found a career you love. It's neat how parents can be a big catalyst into the profession we might go into as adults.
My word for 2024 was perseverance, and 2025 is going to be AWARENESS! More specifically to have a better awareness of what God wants and what others need from me! I’m excited! I’m hoping it will make me a better person overall! 🎉
Happy New Years! Just doing some Bible studies tonight and I usually fall asleep early too! 🎉
I too just have a couple of good childhood friends that are still very close friends. I have a few more recent friends that I have met in Bible study groups, and I am lucky that one has become my BFF even though unfortunately we may never meet in person due to distance. I would love to have a nice friendship hug from her! 😊
Happy New Year, whatever your name is. :).
Happy new year!
Ditto…shy, observant, etc. I hate conflict, it makes me very uncomfortable! Wish sometimes that I could be more assertive but most of the time I enjoy avoiding the drama of some people. Blessed that my close family and friends “get me.”❤
Yes, I celebrate with family, but you bring up a very interesting point.
I prefer a physical Bible too, but I will use some apps for Bible studies at home.
Sounds like a great variety! Can’t wait to hear what you think of them!
I follow Charlene at Bloom Biblically too! She is so sweet, down to earth, and has a heart of gold 💛
Have you watched her Bible Addiction series? I do like how candid Char is.
@ only a couple but I do plan to watch the entire series!
I hate this time of the year and will be glad when Jan 2nd is here :) LOL, so I have a few questions for you. What is your name, is the first one. Are you into music is another one, since I see you have some sound foam on your wall.
I mainly listen to classical music. I used to listen to CCM music, but after that rabbit hole I don't.
@@openlybookish I meant, as in do you play an instrument. It looks like you have some sound padding on your wall.
I don't play an instrument. 🙂
I think the only reason I enjoy the holidays is because I am blessed to have great family and a few friends in town to get together with for some great company and laughter. Great to find your channel! Keep up the great work!
The snake is a reference to Genesis 3:15. I believe they were depicting Christ overcoming Satan there :)
I'm guessing that's the reason as well though it just super creeped me out.
My personality as a child was that I was very "bookish" LOL, shy etc. However, I am a sanguine by nature and also very serious. I observe folks and I actually coach people with assertiveness and everything you said. When i got saved I became a mini evangelist and got my voice. :) So there ya go.
Aww thanks for sharing. I'm guessing you were young when you came to faith? That's neat you are a coach.
@@openlybookish I was around 12 or so, I don't remember the exact day or year. Yes, actually a therapist by training and now I'm a certified coach
Congrats on your certification. How do you like being a coach/therapist?
I love it. I work with great people most who have been hurt in the church
That's so important. Church PTSD is a real thing. 🥺 That's wonderful you love being a therapist.
You hit it on the head when you said cult in regards to KJVO, but there are also aspects of a cult with all the premium bible collectors also. As for the publishers, here's what I know having worked with them for 20 years, it is all business and most of them are no longer owned by Christians. When I worked at Focus on the Family over 30 yrs ago, we got to buy things at "cost" and just as a comparison, a paperback book cost to make was about $1 and we could buy it for $3 and FOTF sold it for $20.00 - the hardback books were about $3 to make, we could buy it for $5 and they sold it for $30 - My guess is the premium bibles that go for $200 to $400 cost a mere quarter of that to make. But I don't know for sure, but what I do know is that yes, the publishers are making bank.
I do believe for example that Thomas Nelson is owned by Harper Collins. There are definitely cult like personalities within the KJVO movement. This is why I'd say I'm KJV preferred. I commend you for surviving working for Focus on the Family. I've been there once on vacation and got to go down the slide. You are correct about premium/fufu Bibles.
@@openlybookish I worked for FOTF before it went the way it was now. I worked in the Pomona, CA office, WAY back in the day, when Dr. Dobson ran it.
Oh wow so way back..... 🤣
@@openlybookish Yeah, I'm 56. :) Not a kid.
Which translation do you prefer?
The accountability thing is what I want to talk about too.
That's great and not a popular thing.
@@openlybookish I just posted a few videos on my account, so you can see who I am. I hosted a show here for 20 yrs and YT deleted my ministry 2 years ago. I'm a veteran broadcaster and have worked with the publishing world for over 20 yrs. :) Not a newbie or ignorant about any of this.
Thank you for your honesty on this issue and just know that I understand what you're talking about. I was recently introduced to the premium bible world and I found myself getting sucked into what you've discussed. I got a Humble Lamb bible for Christmas and soon after the cover got torn from a mere fall off my couch. I unsubscribed from these guys who do reviews and then found your video and a few others.
Oh my the cover tore just by falling off your couch? That's awful and imo that seems that a defect of the Bible. I know premium Bibles are nice and well made, but there is a lot of fawning within the Christian community about different premium ones. It convicted me because there are those who live where they could be unsliced just for owning a page of one let alone a fufu edition. 😭
@@openlybookish Yeah, my dog knocked my laptop and bible off the couch, the bible landed first and saved the laptop.
Glad it saved the laptop, though I wouldn't think the cover would rip that easy if it's made of goatskin or calfskin.
Yeah it is a Humble Lamb Bible ..
I had one, but gave it to one of my BFF's.
Thank you for making this video. There are only a few others brave enough to talk about it. Bible buying addiction is very real, and it is a difficult one to overcome. I have also fallen into the trap, like others, but in my own way. (Thankfully, my budget doesn't allow many "for fun" purchases.) But, I felt the tempatation, to be sure. Stay strong!
I figured it's an important topic that hasn't been talked about much at all. Thank you Rachel for your comment. It is very real and I'd dare say is a sacred cow. Believers can get quite defensive if this struggle is brought up. 😭
@openlybookish oh, they can. I was recently part of a Facebook group discussion about using just one Bible (inspired by a different RUclipsr), and the backlash was real. The thread leader, in the discussion, was sharing her Bible struggles and expressing how she was overwhelmed; she wanted to pair down to one or two. Many people came out of the woodwork to support her, myself included, but there were more who argued against the whole thing, justifying having "multiples" and collecting. 😟
There are some Bible reviewers I'm friends with who I've unsubscribed to so I'm not tempted, but I am sure they would hem and haw if I brought up the topic. I'm sad you got ugly pushback.
I also struggle with a Bible addiction
It's definitely not easy to deal with. One thing that has helped me is not subscribing to anyone who does Bible reviews.
She needs to not write anymore romance if they are going to be toxic like most of her romances are!
That's what I've heard about her romances. I think I only read one of them. I was leery to try Verity.
I have several Christmas gifts from you and Birthday gifts. I’m not sure if something changed in the last year or so but to each their own. Everyone can celebrate Christmas in their own way or not at all! Personally I feel like the people we surround ourselves with influence us the most and that definitely feels like that case here.
@@HeathersHecticHideaway great points. I used to not observe, but caved a few years ago, but this year was convicted to not continue observing.
Nice Video 👍
intresting!
😃
There are definitely options for modern, more accurate translations that don’t make things politically correct! It’s of course not the end of the world, but the manuscripts used for most modern translations are actually older copies than the ones used for the kjv. I do appreciate that you don’t decisively pick a side to enforce on others ! Great selection
Thanks for your feedback. I can share my view and what I've learned, but I won't force anyone to agree.
Great bibles God Bless ya!
You could have asked Jehovah’s Witnesses and they could have told you about Christmas. 😊 Watch me get some backlash for my comment. My sister is an atheist and she celebrates Christmas. Her excuse is that about family getting together yet she does the Christmas and gift giving, whole bit. 😂
True statement since they don't observe. That's interesting about your sister and a great point. Thanks for sharing.
I agree with everything you said. I might make a video as well because it’s not talked about and it’s a real struggle
@@XiomaraNieves-c7q That would be great if you make a vlog about it.
I gave mine to good will kept NLT ,NIV, esv only because it is full of my hand writing no one would want that lol
Thank you sister for talking about this!❤
We watch similar things. 😉
That's awesome. If you have any vlogger recommendations please feel free to share.
I think ten Bibles, all different translations should do it. Make a couple of them good quality ones in leather. One or two can be marked with highlighters, a small pocket one can be carried about. I have a nice very large 19th century family bible. But they come and go, I am happy to give some of mine away. I think it important to have a couple of bibles with commentaries like the MacArthur one.
want to add, 2 Timothy 2:15 "Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly DIVIDING the word of truth". the KJV is the ONLY version that uses Dividing , And because Christians dont properly DIVIDE the word of Truth, they will get Rapture wrong, justified by Faith wrong, will confuse what was written for Jews for Age of Grace Christians wrong. Doctrine matters and ONE word can change it. Keep praying God will put you in the right Bible Believing Church.
I have many more examples if you want to see them. For a Bible believing Christian, the KJV is the ONLY Bible they will use. the KJV has many Wonderous USe of numbers that God uses all the Time, that WONT work in ANY other Bible. Here are John 10:25-29 from the King James Version (KJV): **25 Jesus answered them, I told you, and ye believed not: the works that I do in my Father's name, they bear witness of me. 26 But ye believe not, because ye are not of my sheep, as I said unto you. 27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. 28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. 29 My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand.** It is Conviction of the Holy Spirit that you feel uncomfortable with any Modern Day versions, We KNOW his Voice, God cant Deny Himself ( the Person Holy Spirit that dwells in True Believers) yes many many many Churches are leading people to hell, with back door works Doctrine they get from not Dividing Acts Correctly. B
@@jcfel9820 I'd be happy to be shown more examples. I do need to finish Gail's book.
I did that, collected loads but I've given most away now 😊❤

Huge difference, God promised a perfect word of God, can’t be all of them, KJV IS THE TRUE WORD OF GOD.

@@James41892 yes once you go down the translation rabbit hole you can't view the modern translations in the same innocent light.
Yes!!! Preach it sis!!
Great job sis!! I enjoyed listening to what you had to say as it’s your honest thoughts your sharing with us. I can absolutely relate especially when you talk about missing the innocence. It’s like if things were kept more simple, one version would be enough. Gods spirit would guide us in understanding when reading it, and that would be that! And I found I was more focused and read more when I had less bibles to choose from.
@@Cammisfaithandcrafts exactly. The Holy Spirit will teach us,John 14:26. 😁
