Sun Goddess & Raven - Process of creating this mixed media piece
Hi and welcome. In this video I am sharing the different techniques I used to create this mixed media piece. A combination of acrylic painting, collage with gel print papers, and application of different types of imitation gold leaf. I also experimented with oxidizing the gold leaf using vinegar.

Hi Everyone! Sorry it's been a while since I've shared a video. Life can get pretty crazy sometimes. I have been doing more exploring in printmaking. In this video I am sharing my recent experience making, inking up and printing a collagraph plate. It's been quite a learning experience. I have some deepened respect for printmakers! I am using a Sissix Big Shot die cut machine as a printing pres...
Beet Print using Tetra Pak carton and pasta maker
Просмотров 2,4 тыс.Год назад
Hello fellow creatives. Here is another experiment in printmaking using Tetra Pak as an etching plate and a pasta maker as a printing press. This time I had some difficulty with the ink bleeding into the paper in my second and third prints. I also tried printing onto a piece of gel print which I really wasn't expecting to transfer at all but actually did. I also experimented with using nail pol...

    The end result is so beautiful and satisfying! So the crackle paste and shellac continues to stay flexible after it’s been used? What is the shellac you use? Your birb is angy 🤭

      @@Schmambo Hi there and thanks for watching. Thank you so much. I don’t know how long it would stay flexible for but I was able to do several print runs.

    Very informative, thank you! How many times can you print from the tetrapak material before it starts to degrade?

      Hi Jeanne! Thanks for your interest in my video and your kind words. To be honest I haven’t put that to the test yet. It has been more like play and exploring with this so I haven’t felt a need to attempt multiple prints. Please feel free to share your findings if you put that to the test. Cheers!

    Thank you. I'm just beginner with this method and I learnt some good tips. I'm wondering if the "dauber" you use is a manufactured tool or if you made it yourself.

      Hi Mari! Thanks for watching my video. It’s a handmade dauber. Just some rolled up sheets of craft felt from the dollar store. Works great. Have fun!

    Hi dear, how did you get the grey tone surround the centre of the flower ?

    • @reneemollitt-lusciouslotusART
      @reneemollitt-lusciouslotusART 5 месяцев назад

      Hi. Different tones can be achieved by creating textures in the surface. The more texture added in a smaller space, the more the ink will get held in those areas creating the tone. Hope that answers your question. Thanks for watching.

    What material are you carving into? Lino?

    • @reneemollitt-lusciouslotusART

      Hi Kathy. The material is matboard. It’s the cardboard used for making mats for artwork. You can check out the full video for more details.

    Thank you for showing this fascinating process. Your audio was very low so I may have missed a few things. Did you take Sally Hirst's online class? I have a Sizzix in my closet that I've been afraid to get out and try. How many prints do you think you can realistically get from a collagraph before the surface is gone?

    • @reneemollitt-lusciouslotusART
      @reneemollitt-lusciouslotusART 8 месяцев назад

      Hi! My pleasure. Sorry about the sound. I know the intro volume is louder than the voiceover on the video. I was able to turn up the volume for that part to hear it better. No I have not taken Sally’s course but follow her on social media. If the plate is well protected with several coats of either shellac or gloss medium, I think we can get quite a few prints from a plate. I haven’t put it to the test yet but so far after doing close to a dozen prints, the plate is still in good shape. Thanks for watching and for your message. I hope you take your machine out soon and start playing. When we let go of perfectionism and any fear of messing up, we learn so much and it is really quite fun. 😊

    Lovely video! Thank you for sharing it! I was just wondering if you put your gel plate through the press or if you transferred the image by just pressing it on? X

      Hi Eveline. Did not put the gel plate through the pasta maker. Used a gel print from my stock of them. Soaked that paper and then put it through the pasta machine like I did with the plain paper. Hope that answers your question. Thanks for watching. 😊
