Spoiler annoyance alert: A wealthy woman portrayed as a poor woman with no means or connections just to have a 'relatable' story. They could at least made the lawyer and the staff part of the conspiracy to justify her being 'alone'. If that man was alive today, they wouldn't need much make-up to portray a real-life skeletor.💀

sometimes i like to watch movies that make me total SICK....

I've seen this film several times and it never ceases to pull me in. The acting, the writing and the film noir style is a hard combo to beat. I think it is one of Joan's best performances, and Jack Palance and Gloria Graham are up to the challenge, as well. If you like suspense you will love this movie.

It’s obvious the cigarette company’s were helpful and financially involved in many films of this period of crime dramas . Everybody is smoking . Possibly Eileen’s son may sneak a cigarette 🚬 here and there. 😮

I didn’t know gangsters and cops used rubber bullets . Disappointing ending . Must be Nick and Psychopath Tommy wore bullet proof vests . Best part of movie was the Woman’s fashion and hairdos. So stylish. Seems like every Man back then had a pistol , cigarettes and their favorite nightclub .

Believe it or not, they apparently got Jack Palance as Crawford's leading man because he was one of the few men who could make Joan look soft by comparison. Supposedly, people on the set were cracking jokes (behind her back) calling Joan, Jack Crawford and Joan Palance, saying they looked like twins and it was hard to tell them apart. 😆😆😆 Great Movie by the way. This earned Crawford her 3rd Oscar nomination, behind Mildred Pierce-1945 and Possessed-1947.

"Sudden Fear" is the best motion picture I've ever seen, and I've seen thousands of movies in my long life. Crawford is absolutely BRILLIANT!!!

This is a film and a half and really takes you back to how valuable life is, and the times that people suffered so that we can have what we have. Born close to this era, and even after dark times, hard, cold times, people down to earth, solid characters

I don't like this century, because I think we are not remembering these people who fought for us and what everyone went through, kids say it's a long time ago, I was born in the 60s and always was aware of their sacrifice, what would happen now I don't think people would sign up cos no one wants to fight for their own country

I saw this movie once and found it too depressing to want to watch again. Ironically, actor Gig Young (some years after this film) shot & kill his wife, then himself.

Jack Palance says in the dialog that he spent time in the mines in Pennsylvania. In fact, he was born in Lattimer Mines, PA, and in later life he was still in the Hazleton PA area and seen by locals when out shopping. He was said to be very nice to everyone in public.

Remember, this is the same year as Strangelove. And those two girls are marvelous.

Watched this decades ago. Good film. Grim story but good.

Halfway through this flick and I'm sure Johnny's family is thrilled that he showed up for a nice restful visit Hitchcock blew this version out of the water in 1942.
