FLIGHT STREAK Flight 1 241218
Hadn't finished the plowing when this flight went up, but it landed ok in 2 inches of snow. Take-off was a bit hairy when it hit ice and turned inwards but recovered it recovered ok.

FLYING CLOWN 241123

To slow the plane down I added a muffler to the Fox .15 BB engine as engine do lose some RPM because of them, also plan on using longer than 52 ft lines. Watch for future flights.

JJ's Critter Flight 5 crash 241027
Просмотров 5052 месяца назад
5 PA pattern flights were put up this day the first 4 having laps of 50 or more, engine runtime of over 6 1/2 minutes, except for this flight, which only flew 35 laps with engine running out of fuel at 5/1/2 minutes, all with the same calculated fuel capacity. Enough time for the pattern but not enough for the line untwisting during the outside loops. So cause was either because of miscalculate...

No damage to the fuselage so it will be re-used, as well as the control system and stab/elevator to be used again. Just need to build and new Banshee wing and put it all together. JJ's Critter will live on.
JJ's Critters Last Flight 20241027

After flying this airplane for quite a number of years its has finally come to an end when the engine quit during the outside loops to untwist the lines after completing the PA pattern.

First flight lesson for a potential new control line pilot. The plane was flying much too fast for a beginner but it will make the next flight seem so much easier tuned to half that speed.

BRODAK SMOOTHIE 2 Flight 3 240814
Просмотров 2534 месяца назад
First pattern from this airplane since last year, it actually flies somewhat better than the first Smoothie as it is lighter in weight. Pin stripping is coming off as it usually does, painting them on is the only way to keep them on so will be working on that soon. Had to change inserts from medium to large using an Enya assembly, burning more fuel but the plane has more torque at the same rpm.
FLITE STREAK Flight 3 240711
Просмотров 5475 месяцев назад
Ok so this plane was built by Harold Y. which is a Flite Streak wing built onto his own designed fuselage, well built but too heavy, flaps would help, but it can fly an OTS pattern after having some extra trim work done. Engine leaned a bit during the veritcal 8's wasn't able to do the 3rd for lack of power, should have left it inverted a bit longer to recover enough speed for the 3rd vertical....

Hairline cracks weakened the rudder which blew off on its previous flight.

Managed a better NV setting than the previous flight with a tach rpm of 10100 and of LT 4.9 at start of flight. Full PA pattern which of course the GoPro video does add some distortion to. 4 ounce tank short-filled by 1/2 ounce.
How to build a simple inexpensive Stooge (240625)
Просмотров 8666 месяцев назад
Just have to be fancy - just effective. This one is quite heavy because it's cast iron and larger than what it needs to be but it will hold any size controline line plane. I would guess the minimum weight should be 10 pounds, this one is 17. Works fine off a grass field but if your flying off pavement then epoxy some rubber on the bottom edges.

    You're putting up the pattern really well. The only way to get better is to practice. C/L is extremely frustrating, but I stick with it. When you finish the pattern, just do your 5 or 6 laps and land. Why run out of fuel at the top of a loop, although, yes we've all been there. Stay with it. Tight Lines.

      I did, as you can see the cement blocks that mark the center, I just wasn't fast enough. I doubt even if I was faster I could have pulled it out of the stall anyways as it came down pretty hard and fast, being the heavy airplane as it was.

    • @Barrie562
      @Barrie562 6 месяцев назад

      Yes this is a very reliable engine, even running lean it maintains its rpm fairly well, on the other hand an OS FP loses rpm when it runs lean and may even stall.

    • @Barrie562
      @Barrie562 4 месяца назад

      Yes it is hard to recover when the engine quits while doing outside loops. I was lucky to regain some control just before ground contact which may have saved the plane from more damage.

    Where did you get that needle set up, have this engine on my Nobler, yours seems to hold the setting better.

    • @Barrie562
      @Barrie562 6 месяцев назад

      The needle setup is from an OS FP.40, using the large Evolution insert. You can also use an Enya assembly, which has a larger spray bar. You have to experiment which works best for your plane. Remember once you drill out for the larger Enya spray bar that's what you have to use, so experiment with the smaller OS. 25-.40 spray bar first.
