Jim Stephenson is a film maker and photographer concerned with the documentation of architecture, design and the built environment. His work is hallmarked by a quiet and calm approach that commonly depicts people interacting with space and his films have been shown at festivals in New York, London, Sydney, Paris, Milan and Istanbul.
He has worked with a wide range of practices and buildings, including those by Herzog & de Meuron, Zaha Hadid, Assemble, Sou Fujimoto, Frances Kere, Richard Rogers and many more.

Hidden Sounds: The Macallan Distillery
A collaboration with sound artist Simon James. Working with a range of recording devices, Simon created a soundscape from the noises of The Macallan Distillery in Speyside, Scotland by Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners.

What a lovely little documentary, so well made and really captures the feelings of being in the cathedral, which I was delighted to visit recently. It was fabulous to hear/see the design process and thought behind the Illumination window. Great work :)
this is incredibly well made and beautifully shot! i recently visited Durham Cathedral for the first time and the beauty of this window really captivated me. i don't think it can be properly captured on camera quite how the light shines through the glass and casts bright colour onto the stone around the window, but this documentary has come as close as i think you can get, and it captures the feeling of it so well. i hope this video encourages more people to visit the Cathedral and see the Illumination Window for themselves

Excellent piece of filmmaking, you really did the place justice.
Carl Turner needs to be recognized as THE architect of the future! His creative use of materials for innovative structures are as iconic as it gets! His genius is in the way he brings a seamless collaboration between the client's design needs and his visions of the projects by--hold on to your breaths--actually listening to and trying to fulfill the wishes of his clients! Too many architects come in to implement their aesthetic while ignoring the client's, not to mention blowing their budgets to sky high!
