TR1 gold auto pilot working with Garmin GPS Map 547XS route
Просмотров 10 тыс.11 лет назад
I purchased the boat without any knowledge that it had an autopilot system from a brokerage boat dealer that had little information about the boat. The only thing certain was that it was a 2003 Boston Whaler 185 Ventura with a working Honda 115. The main engine had 125 hours and the little kicker engine didn't work. The big bonus was a TR1 Gold auto pilot unit that looked to be in really bad sh...

Did you sell your Escapod? Thanks!
@@C-Noel yes, I sold it about 3 months ago.
Im still trying to dial mine in.. when I go to follow a route it wants to go the opposite direction, like its 180 degrees out. I've calibrated the ball, but still
Wow, I wonder what’s going on with your setup. Have you called Garmin TR1 tech support? They’re amazing at helping with over the phone tech support and I’m confident that they will be able to get your issue resolved. Keep me updated on what they say.
do you need a garmin GPS Map or comparable to use the TR 1? Or can you use the TR 1 by itself?
+Michael Mauk Hi Michael, you do not need a GPS map to use the TR1, however having a GPS unit (any brand with NEMA 0183 will work) makes controlling the autopilot easier because you can set waypoints and have the TR1 system navigate using the external GPS. I decided on the Garmin because of recommendations from friends due to salt-water environments, because Garmin owns the TR1 autopilot, and because of various reviews online. Garmin has proprietary software called Auto guidance, which automatically creates a track that is suited for your boat based on the waypoint that you create. See the video for more detail and an explanation of what I'm talking about here: ruclips.net/video/4CTRrTKeVCU/видео.html. Short answer is No; you do not need an external GPS unit to use the TR1. You can revert to using the hand held control and create loops or tracks using only the hand held controller.
+Reel-Lentless Hey Ron I had my boat at Bob Feil boats so had him do the install on it last fall. Have not used it yet. But hope to take it to Rufus soon to test it and do some triplod fishing. At this time I do not have it hooked up to my lowrance but may do that in the spring. I have the cables I think. I will be in touch
I just got one... im assuuming the wiring is the standard 4 wire hook up into the harness on the boat? Im assuming: Red is 12v+ Yellow: is the memory Blue: remote on Black: Ground Because they are labled kinda weird... Here is what is labeled: Red: ACC Yellow: B/UP+B Blue: Auto ANT Black: GND
how's the radio working out for you. thinking about installing one on a suzuki burgman scooter!
Can you adjust the pre out levels (i.e. volume level )for use with a subwoofer? I don;t see any reason to have an automotive style head unit when products like this are now available!
There is one small thing that I've noticed. the unit has a lag of about a second when selecting radio stations or changing between radio/Bluetooth/Aux. Sometimes I find myself skipping the blue tooth selection because I press the buttons too quick... UPDATE - after paying attention to my other radios (house, car, office) it seems that all digital radios have some lag.
Two weeks ago we were hanging out near the back of the boat on a big 8 person tube and i was able to keep the phone on me and able to control the music playlist from the tube! Also, I usually rinse the boat down with the garden hose after every outing, and the watertight face of the JBL PRV 170 gives me piece of mind in knowing that I don't have to worry about it. Overall It's handled my abuse exceptionally well.
I love this thing... I use my boat mainly in the gulf of Mexico and i wanted something that could stand up to salt, moisture, rain, and abuse from anyone near it. My wife loves the Bluetooth option and wishes she had bluetooth on her car. We find ourselves mostly listening to Spotify whenever inshore and to our music files when offshore. So far it's working perfect.
what do you think about this unit now?
