Good idea to hunker down on a bad weather, that must be the same week when they found the guy from VA just below Mt. Washington who they believed hiked down unprepared and sadly died. That mountain range is not a joke and a lot of people underestimate it.

Chuck, your oatmeal looks like the kind I got when I was in China, to thin for me but then I like to take old-fashion oats and just pour hot water over then until they are wet, no more cooking so you at least have something to chew. By the looks of those clouds waiting out the weather looks like a great choice!

I had to chuckle watching people squeezing the water through their filters. That technique makes it hard to clean the filter and shortens the filter's life. They're supposed to be just hung and let gravity gently do the work. Nice video. Happy Trails. Good Luck, Rick

Oh my gosh…those snakes were in that exact same spot at Zealand when we hiked the Presis SOBO last summer. And we climbed up the Garfield waterfall…lol…which I think I was glad for! We had a NOBO tell us during the flat section that he had just seen a moose. Sadly, we did not! Another big day for y’all!!! Great job!!!🎉

Laughing at the "next shipment for PA" comment. Looked to me like y'all were more rock climbing/descending instead of hiking on a good part of the trail today. And I thought coming down Dragon's Tooth was a pain, make me appreciate the trails here more and more.

Wow this is beautiful. I’ve always thought the Shenandoah would be my favorite mostly because of the ponies. This was s a new area for my favorite to do list. I’ve seen it on other hikers but y’all got the best timing (season?) My dad passed almost 2 yrs ago & I visited my mom everday for the next 6+ months because statistically a spouse follows shortly. It worked. Was sketchy for awhile but my moms doing as well as most 82yrs old. I’m sure your hike is a highlight for him. I hope he sees the videos & he’s not only happy for you & living vicariously thru you. Stay on course & let him continue be supportive & enjoy your adventure. Y’all are a great son & dil

Slipped on a wet rock while talking the camera and no $#@#$%%, impressive! That was some serious downhilling y'all had to do today! It made my Steve Austin replacement knee ache just watching it.

It's hard with ones parents in their later years we had 7 years of worrying very time phone rang at night. But it's ok to be sad and worry.

I’m so glad the weather cleared over Franconia Ridge and that it was not as windy. I love that hike though not a fan of the hike between Lafayette and Garfield as it seems to go on. I’m glad Chuck got to talk to your dad, family support in everything in life is beautiful and I’m glad you all have that.
