i know this stuff is on SBS but i never get to see it on there. I'm glad there are fans willing to show everyone else these races, this is my second round watching it and am excited for next year at Albert park with all the F1 drivers and fans watching would love to see Danny Ric make a cameo in one of these one day P.S. the main race needs to be a few laps longer, would be interesting to see how points will work too

A bit disappointing with the sound quality, I'm sure a lot of people are watching to hear some thundering V8s, there must be a way of making this better especially when you see some of the content that being produced on youtube these days.
Thanks for posting all these races. I'm in the US and have no other way to watch this awesome series. F5000 was big here in the 70's, S5000 is the obvious heir apparent, it certainly checks all the right boxes. :)
Glad you're enjoying the racing. I remember the Formula 5000 with fondness too. I think with the S5000 they have really nailed the spirit of what the original formula offered and just brought it up to date. Hi Thanoss. It was great watching the new series launch with Rubens behind the wheel. He is a real gentleman racer. Maybe we will see Barrichello back in an S5000's when they race at the F1 GP Festival, Melbourne in 2020. There are also plans for the S5000's to appear at Bathurst (Mount Panorama - street - mountain circuit) in December 2020. This would be another Great Opportunity to see Rubens back in Australia. Race 2 and 3 of the S5000's from The Bend will be up in the next 12 hours.
@@jamiewadley that would be great to see these cars and Bathurst as an american I love this format let alone Bathurst that track is such a rush love the 12 Hour. Yes I followed Rubens when he was an F1 driver and his spirit is something else he is as you said a gentleman driver. Since the V-10 are gone from F11 I no longer follow it as much more endurance but this format is something I truly enjoy, thank so much for posting it

Hello Felipe, Rubens was the STAR that helped launch the S5000's and he did a great job. I think he is still competing back home in the Brazilian 'Stock Car' Championship. As I said in another comment/reply "Maybe we will see Barrichello back in an S5000's when they race at the F1 GP, Melbourne in 2020. There are also plans for the S5000's to appear at Bathurst (Mount Panorama - street - mountain circuit) in December 2020. This would be another Great Opportunity to see Rubens back in Australia." Hello RC, unfortunately, Rubens only drove in the Sandown Races in September to help launch the S5000's. He seemed to enjoy himself too ;-), he is such a great ambassador for the sport. I personally would love to see him back. The S5000's are said to be supporting the Melbourne F1 Grand Prix, maybe we will see him then. Cheers Jamie

Now that is what you call motor racing like it used to be,thundering race cars creating wheel to wheel action,I love it. And the commentators do a great job too, my heart is pumping.

Hello Stevan, thanks for your thoughts. To help answer your question, the S5000's have control wheels & tyres (Hoosier Racing Tires). The transmission, engines, suspension and electronics are also controlled standards within the class. That said, it is a very new class of racing car. Perhaps these "control option" will be reviewed as the class matures. Time will tell. Cheers & Thanks Jamie

Looks nice. Just a bit concerned with these low cost kit cars when those out of control crashes happen. Like the F2 cars getting launched and completely destroyed. I wonder why not a good proven modern F1 chassis was reproduced for this reason. The sound is great eventhough the exhaust fumes are a bit out of this time. I hope this series evolves quickly as i believe there would be a few F1 and Indy stars with no seat or just want to spend winter in Upside down land with good old Mad Max motors. On that note, just saw an abandoned race track video about the Thunderdome Oval, maybe S5000 would work there? Hoping the constructors can tweak the cars so they start sticking to the ground instead of to the gravel... People like racing not watching pace cars.

For those keen on such things, the original 5.0L Coyote engine was replaced late in the proceedings by the 5.2L version. The reason was that, although I'm sure they would have preferred to stay with the original capacity, Ford were investing the the 5.2 for their long term support and the switch to the bigger engine was seen as a long term move. There are no significant dimensional changes that would affect the installation and they are still producing the same 560 hp.
This reminds me of the scene in The Crying Game, when the girl drops her dress and she has a wiener. These formula cars go by and they sound like Nascar. I don't like it.
I guess the concept behind the S5000 is for an affordable high-performance open-wheel race car. One that does not take millions to put on the track and one where the playing field is not slanted toward teams with the deepest pockets. That said, they are powered by a Ford V8, so some similarity between the note of the 5.9 litre V8's used in NASCAR and the 5.0-litre naturally-aspirated quad-cam Ford Coyote V8 is to be expected. An open-wheel class of car that weighs in at 900kg propelled by 560 hp (420 kW) of power and 460 lb⋅ft (620 N⋅m) of torque does make for an excellent racing formula. Just FYI, I believe an S5000 car costs about $300-350k (AUD). This budget would not go far in F1 and it is not what the S5000's are about. Cheers & Thanks Jamie

I think looks, in this case, maybe deceiving. Less in the line of sight for the drivers, while still offering FIA sanctioned amounts of driver safety & protection is a good thing.
