Putting the garden to bed for the Winter - 2024 season close
I finally cut down all the summer things from my garden (except the flowers for the lingering bees!) and dug up all my dahlias and elephant ears. It was a lot of work but I'm very glad to see it done. This year I layered leaves and hay to help build my soil quality for next year.

But I wanted to capture the garden one more time before the season ends for me to watch when its Winter and I'm wishing it was garden season again

Thank you!
Beautiful productive Garden❤❤
love this video I subscribed! I also grow food organically and show it in my RUclips channel if you would like to see it, can't wait to watch more of your content!
I love how there is like 4 versions of calendula lol
@@mubfsw that's Caleb for ya hahaha
What seed do you use? It looks awesome! I would love if my cilantro was growing this much.
@@abdullahjib it was one of the aero garden seed pods. I have had the most success hydroponically then outdoors too lol
Omg I'm dying 😂
@@shelbyumetsu159 I laughed so hard at the video. I was in tears!
You're not allowed to harvest because youre not good at it 😂😂😂😂
Also very invasive. Checks out that it's spreading in your garden. Stop recommending invasive plants. No thank you!
@@selvam466 there is a difference between invasive species and just plants that readily self seed. I like the plants that self seed for my garden because they are like surprises and make me happy. www.dcnr.pa.gov/Conservation/WildPlants/InvasivePlants/InvasivePlantFactSheets/Pages/default.aspx
@@healthyhabitsandgardeningh7216 Depends where you're at. It's definitely invasive in California. I grow it too, but I don't let it go to seed.
😢 nose el ingles asi que noentiendo nada
Did anyone else see the fat tomato worm at 0:11?
lol that is a Swallowtail Caterpillar <3
Ohh!! Lol Well a very cool looking caterpillar! RUclips stopped letting me reply in the correct spot or tag🤷🏻♀️
I just love caterpillars! Except the kind that make massive webs in trees 😫 (tent caterpillars)
¿Can you still eat those onions?
I think technically the taste is altered and they do not store because of the flower penetrating the bulb.
Plus they are tiny
I love this! Did you direct sow or transplant?
I transplanted once a few years ago otherwise it self sowed itself all over the place
Beautiful! I started dill from seed a few days ago. I hope it grows😊
@Seventytwodegrees, (my fav temp lol) did they grow? I’ve planted them this year for the first time but plants instead of seeds
Hoselink is a game changer. I mounted ours this week and wow is it worth it
We have 3 now and I love them!
That’s a big ole dill plant. How old is it?
I believe this one was over a month old at the time of filming. I usually let it go to seed and spread all over the place
You can freeze it
Beautiful garden tour 👌
Lovely garden! Thank you for the tour. ❤
Great job fantastic haul 👍
Great job fantastic haul 👍
Can i plant in beginning of July ? Im in zone 8b and the weather is quite chilly and rainy right now. Thanks 👍
Im sorry I did not see this comment! Usually potatoes prefer to be planted like a cold crop and I have not had success with any that I tried to plant past March in my Zone (7B)
Nice tour!
Thank you!

You have a nice soil..
Thank you! It's been a work in progress. I layered compost on top of the yard that I then covered with cardboard and then mushroom soil on top of that and mulch on top of that. It's very rich and lovely already this year!
Give us the updates of the replanted potatoes....
Sorry about that! They did not regrow when replanted but it did leave behind a baby potato that started growing this year!
Wow, I've never seen anyone put the potato plant back in the soil to regrow!
I never posted an update but it did not regrow 😕
I use the tiny ones as seed potatoes too ;-)
Looking great!
I have the seed trays as well, but it just feels so wasteful to buy the special pods and plant them in the ground. I wish there was a good DIY solution for that. Looks good though. I started up a winter garden with Aerogardens indoors. We are a little too heavy with snow to have an outdoor winter garden.
I have found after using these a few times as well that my plants that I then plant dont seem to use up the pods either so I kind of discontinued using it except for a few things. I did start buying cheaper versions off of Amazon because I agree they are pricey for single use but really helpful when people don't have the space and its an all contained unit.
Some of the off brands are a little stiffer, like the seed has a hard time pushing the root down into the sponge and will just grow upwards. It is a little annoying to have to pull the seedling, tear down the side of the sponge and place the seed in properly. I have always liked the idea of doing this but feel like it wastes the sponge. For the time savings, it might just be worth it though. I plan on starting a lot of seeds for next years garden. I currently have a bunch of Aerogardens running for an indoor winter garden and the seed tray wasn't as useful as I had hoped. Most of the plantings were staggered so they would all come ripe at the same time. The open tops are an issue when not using every opening as it allows for algae growth which transfers over to the main Aerogarden.
I asked my husband to try to 3d print little tops to help with the algae but they don't fit on the Sprout version because of the curves around the outside
@@healthyhabitsandgardeningh7216 Darn, thats not good.
I love my sprout seed starting tray!
Great job can’t wait to see how many we get, keep up the good work👍🏽
Thank you!
