I have too many students to take attendance. I was hoping this could be automated in such a way that when a student joins the lesson, it automatically registers them as present. Can do?

Hi, just a question: Can the teacher avoid the students to change their attendance? Can it be allowed? Can the attendance activity "shared" among (used by) the various teachers in a same course? Thanks in advance

I prefer the "Attendance Module" (Journal module, feedback module, lecture feedback module) developed by a Sapporo Gakuin University which generates unique random numbers that can be cut our, or mail merged to a handout, which students need to enter. There is no way that they can share the number with their friends because the numbers are unique and can only be entered once. This forces them to visit the page. In the original module there was also a field for comments (like the attendance slips used at Japanese universities. Japanese students do not like to talk but they will write candid, even cutting, written comments). When you have a lecture larger than about 30 students then taking a role call uses too much class time and can be abused by students saying "Yes" for their friends. This practice is common enough to have a name, daihen, in Japanese. So the "Lecture Feeback module" is in a sense the only way to take attendance, automatically at least. This role call module would also fall foul of the daihen.

Great tutorial! I see that you had the extra credit assignment under one of your categories. Is it possible to have many extra credit assignments under the main course category so that it counts toward the final course total grade? Thanks

Somehow while doing this I moved the course overview box into one of the side columns. I can now move it from left column to right but not back to the center. How do i get it back to the center?

I have a question about the statement at 2:59 that "100 percent of the total is 30 percent of the grade." What happens if you change the value of the category total to 50, or even zero? What is the purpose of this control? Thanks for any insight you can share!
