"Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade" (1989) vs. "Lethal Weapon 2" (1989): Part 2
You rock and rocked with your former songs! Keep it up 🎉
I remember being in 8th grade when this was dropped. My friend was like, dude! You need to hear this band! I asked, "Who are they? He said Guns and Rose's! I was like, they sound like another gay hair band! Boy, was I wrong!
It was the Welcome to the Jungle video for me. I was like, dude, these guys are a little scary but totally mesmerizing
For other vampire films, it would be interesting if you guys did a vs betweeen Interview with the vampire and Bram stroker’s Dracula. Since both are gothic horror vampire films from the 90’s
Yeah, in no universe is The Last Dragon a better movie than TKK, but it's more fun. And when i was a kid, I didn't think Daniel could beat me up, but I knew Bruce Leeroy could 😂
I'll say this much about the two...I never fell asleep the first three times I watched Flash Gordon.
@@jimjam51075 😆😆😆! Do you think the new Henry Cavill "Highlander" will be more exciting?
@surelypodcast I seriously doubt it. The closest thing to decent the three writers of it have put out is "John Wick 4". Otherwise, all 3 have written really terrible reboots, game adaptations, and sequels. These things are pretty easy to predict with about 2 minutes on imdb. If the writers have done something good and/or original (and plenty of it, no matter how obscure) these movies usually work out well. The team writing for the Cavill project are basically hacks. It's not like those types of writers just suddenly get good.
@@jimjam51075I agree with your analysis. I am holding out hope though because Stahelski did a good job with the John Wick series (which is formulaic, but a great execution of the formula). And, I'm hopeful for Ryan Condal. I haven't seen House of the Dragon, but it seems to be doing well in the IMDb ratings. Crossing my fingers!
@@surelypodcast Hope is always admirable.
They should remake Highlander, and this time, cast people who can use a sword. Or at least hire a better choreographer. But don't touch Flash Gordon. It's perfect 😂
Flashlander and Highgordon.🤟🏻
Highlander (1986) no other sequels were ever made, untill Highlander the TV series. My name is Xavier St cloud and there can be only one
Flash Gordon. The bad acting in Flash Gordon is largely tongue-in-cheek, while the bad acting in Highlander is just genuinely bad. The film just keeps getting worse and worse after Ramirez dies.
Highlander, and it's not even close.
There can be only one.
Any which way for sure, can't describe why - but I feel it. Both are great movies.
Highlander is better in most ways and establishes a huge and rich world. But when that Flash Gordon funky tune hits at the assault on Ming castle scene, all bets are off.
He's a miracle!
Thanks for doing that! Love Chicago!
Loved both these movies but would have to go with every which way but loose as the favourite.
Can't go wrong with that! Hope you enjoyed the comparison. What's your favorite Clint Eastwood movie overall?
@surelypodcast this one and outlaw Jose Wales. I have watched most of his movies more than once and still enjoy them. Every which way but loose though is my favourite and I have lost count on how many times I've seen it.I still laugh at the same things each time and just feel good when I watch it. Love all the western movies as well, he's the ultimate cowboy.
So happy you guys enjoyed the show! Was Finger Eleven on the bill for OKC?
No, it was only Mammoth WVH, 3 Doors Down, and Creed. Not familiar with Finger Eleven. What should I listen to?
@ Living in a Dream and Paralyzer are really the 2 I know
F...u with your stupid podcast
Love this comparison! Both these films give me a very similar vibe & aesthetic, to the point I could imagine them being in the same universe.
Oh, yeah! Flynn controlling Joshua from within! That would be awesome. FYI a new Tron movie is scheduled to be released next year with music by NIN.
Hi guys, may I have the text of the speech? I would appreciate it ❤
@@mahdimoshtagh4355 hey, thanks for the question. Happy to help if I can. What "speech" you are referring to?
Why Collective Soul Blue album (95) over Hints Allegations and things left unsaid (94)?
Great question! Jason discusses why we picked the Blue Album, but we devote a significant amount of time to Shine and the development of Hints and Allegations. Hope you got a chance to listen!😊
@ I did listen, of course, and it was amazing. Can’t wait for more 90s album breakdowns.
Trouble in the SEWERS always what I thought it was as a kid.
Loving all of these album breakdowns.
One of the best albums of the 80s. Maybe ever.
Hey this was a wonderful review and discussion. I am a big Cult lover - their whole history, got into them with their first album in the UK when I was a kid (where they, and I, are from) .. and its their ever changing sound and explorations that keep me listening to their new stuff, as well as their old. It can distance a lot of people who got into them during one of their 'eras', but to me they are in the tradition of English artists such as Bowie ... Ch-ch-ch- (u know the rest). Anyhow - this was a brilliant and intelligent tumble through a great album, I know a few of the stories you told, but you hit me with a few gems, the reception of the string arrangement of Edie (Ciao Baby) for instance. Thanks dudes - that was some awesome intel. To repay the debt, the 'Who would break a butterfly on the wheel?' line from Soul Asylum is a very famous quote in the UK related to music. It was used in a Times newspaper editorial In 1967 in the fallout of Jagger and Richards of the Rolling Stones being arrested for drugs. In turn, that line is nicked from a 1700s poem by Alexander Pope and is an allusion to a horrific form of torture - breaking a body on a wheel. My assumption is Astbury knows all these uses and connotations... Anyway - this was the first ep I heard from you guys, came here for the Cult, but have subscribed and will check out more of what you do. Thank you for your service to music...
David! Thanks, man! What a fantastic review to read. So glad we didn’t disappoint you, you praise means more that we can say. And, even better, thanks for the intel on the butterfly quote. Hope you get to enjoy the catalog. Let us know if there’s a matchup you’d like to hear us cover. Thanks for subscribing!
Great job on this deep dive, guys!
YES YES YES YES EVEN BETTER AFTER 25 YEARS
Wasn’t the drugstore in rumble fish in outsiders too? And Darry worked for roofing the last drugstore was from a deleted scene
Yeah, I think you’re right, I think the drug store only made the special edition and deleted scenes, as well
@@surelypodcast yeah I didn’t think the last one was in the movie and the first one was when Dallas was leaning against the pole on the corner
The drug store in the outsiders was actually is in Sperry OK right across from the DX has station
@@TheFishbrad1 oh really? That’s cool I guess I learned something new today!
Reckless is a shocking album after the 1st three. Into the night was killer also
Into the night? Into the fire
Track1: Heat of the Night, Track 2: Into the Night, I see where we were going there. Thank you guys for listening! How did you find us?
@@surelypodcast don't forget Heat of the fire😂😂😂😂
@@nietbepalen "Into the Heat of the Heart of the Nights on Fire!" Weird Al, we have your next polka medley! 😆😆😆
Actually it was Pete that got Gizmo wet, and the evil Mogwai tricked Billy into feeding them passed midnight. Stripe also got himself wet, not Billy.
Thanks for listening! You make a good point. We probably unjustly laid too much fault upon Billy. But, would you argue that he is completely without responsibility for the mishaps?
There is no VS. you can like both. Now we have to disagree in one of the coolest years ever too????
Totally agree! Both stellar movies and we absolutely love both. Our VS. format is really just an excuse to geek out about 2 of our favorites at the same time. The fun is the discussion, the agony is the final judgment where we force ourselves to pick between 2 icons. Thanks for checking us out! Hope you enjoyed some of the other other episodes.
1984 was one of the best years for movies, great podcast!

“Freedom “ was definitely my fav off the album I didn’t realize until later that “faith “ was the sequel to the song
Or maybe a eulogy. GM keeps reinventing himself. He does it again in the video for Freedom90, when he blows up the guitar and the leather jacket.
Been watching ghostbusters for 4 decades and never knew the ghost on the logo had a name lol appreciate your guys research !!!
Haha! Us either. It’s so fun to dive into these stories. Thanks again for listening. Hope we can surprise you on the next episode too.

Hans Zimmer's soundtrack for Man of Steel is AMAZING.
Thanks for listening! The arpeggios are all so well composed and placed. It totally drives the intensity of the movie. Great point!
Obviously the 1978 film and I’d go with the Donner Cut from part II although it’s missing some classic music cues compared to the Lester version
Thanks for listening, Joey! How did you feel about Man of Steel?
@@surelypodcast wasn’t a fan. Could never get past it not being Reeve. I couldn’t even watch TNG because there was no Kirk. lol
@@joeylodes The problem I had with Man of Steel is Zack Synder tried to make Superman dark and grounded similar to Christopher Nolan's take on Batman. Superman represents the good in humanity. He inspires hope and optimism. The darkened colors of the Man of Steel costume do not inspire hope and optimism. Henry Cavill's Superman looks depressed as if he's lost hope for humanity. Dark and gritty works for Batman because he is the Dark Knight. It doesn't work for Superman. When he broke Zod's neck that crossed the line as far as I am concerned. Superman does not kill! He values all life, even lost souls who become villains.
Jason had this problem with Man of Steel as well. But, then I pointed out that Superman tosses a powerless Zod to his death down an icy chasm in Superman II. At least, Cavil struggled with the decision and then killed him quick 😆
You soccerdads really suck at this, no offense. Dont quit your day jobs you losers :/
If tou haven't seen Crossroads youre a fucking loser, that simple
Please, Billy the Kids death is complete bullshit
Thanks for listening! So, do you think Brushy Bill Robert’s was the real William H. Bonney? His story is pretty fascinating.
I felt good about my Star Wars skills and knowledge early on, until you said the first round was "The Easy Questions", thanks for that by the way. 😉 Hey Docking Bay 77, awesome choice of movie discussions, let me know when you do "Excalibur", "Lady Hawke", "The Name of the Rose" and "Dragonslayer" which in my opinion has the most gorgeous Dragon I had ever seen until I saw "Dragonheart"! Especially gorgeous considering the time in which the movie was filmed. Question, when you asked, what did Luke forget to attach to C-3PO while at Obi-Wan"s, shouldn't the answer have been 3-PO's arm? Because Luke only removed R2-D2's restraining bolt so he could see Leia's whole message (R2-D2 conartist extraordinaire), if I recall correctly 3PO didn't have the restrAining bolt removed until much later in the movie. If I recall correctly, there were 2 X-Wings and 1 Y-Wing, along with 1 Cornelian Light Freighter who flew away from the first Death Stars Explosion and one way word spinning TIE Fighter ("Annie are you okay? Are you okay Annie?")
Thanks for listening! I knew these guys had S.W. knowledge that ran deep. So, I tried to dig up some questions that even the most devoted fan would have trouble with. They still blew my mind!
