    Thank you for these excellent videos. I've been using the GM 800 for a few months (thanks to your help) and am very happy with it. One problem I do have though is latency when using it as a midi controller for 3rd party VST's in Reaper. This is making it pretty much unusable for me as a midi controller. Any advice? Cheers.

      Thanks for watching - I am glad that my videos are of use to you! Concerning your MIDI latency problem in REAPER the only thing I can think of is perhaps the block size being too high - maybe if you lower that to 64, the problem might be solved- hopefully. I use the GM as a MIDI controller for hold and volume adjustments in VIs like Kontakt or Pianoteq and there is no latency whatsoever, neither in Gig Performer. I hope that helps and wish you lots of fun playing MIDI guitar.👍

      @@jonper993It really depends on what kind of sounds you’re after - the GM-800 is for sampled PCM sounds whereas the Sy is a „real“ synthesizer. The GM can be used as a MIDI interface connected to your computer, however and you can build a real powerful custom made guitar synth system with sounds that run on your computer inside of Gig Performer. I will make a video on this kind of setup as soon as possible.

The brand still exists, here is a link to the website: www.frameworks-guitars.com/en/ As far as MIDI guitar playing is concerned, this is best model for fingerstyle players who seek ultimate evenness in tonal response - the solo pickup sound is not really to my liking, so I use it only like a MIDI keyboard. I found the tracking in the new version to be a lot better, but there are other factors that add to the tracking reliability: if you play closer to the bridge, the use of a damper for empty strings and the thorough setting of the low level velocity & the dynamics. I wish you more luck with the new version! 👍🍀

    Hi, thanks for this great video! I just downloaded Midi Guitar 3 thinking that I could use my digital instrument (Artiphon Instrument 1) which is a kind of guitar shaped USB midi controller, but that did not work. Does MG3 only use audio interface as input?

    • @midiguitarist4140
      @midiguitarist4140 3 месяца назад

      Cheers - glad you enjoyed the video. MIDI Guitar 3 is designed to turn the output of a guitar into MIDI data - so it needs some kind of audio input to work properly. If you want to use your Artiphon Instrument 1 in a similar way to the one that I presented in this video, I suggest that you try out Gig Performer 5 by Deskew. There you could use the Artiphon as your MIDI input and program your synth patches in a similar fashion to the one I showed in the vid. Gig Performer is a lot more versatile as far as building sounds with VIs, plugins and effects is concerned. Good luck with your MIDI guitar endeavours! 👍🍀

    Great Series! First time on your videos. Planning to get a GR-55 o GM-800 for my Godin guitar, but it's quite expensive to buy the ADC converter + new cable and GM-800. GR-55 would work more straight forward. How are you using the GM-800 with your Godin guitar?

    • @midiguitarist4140
      @midiguitarist4140 5 месяцев назад

      Thanks for watching - glad you like the series. I use my Godin guitar in the intended way: the 13-pin cable runs into the GKC-AD converter and from there the BGK cable is connected to the GM-800. The GM is connected to my Metric Halo ULN-8 interface via the two analog outputs from the GM and the USB output from the GM is connected to my computer. In the computer I run Gig Performer 5 to handle additional synth sounds that are triggered by the GM and I mix everything with the software that comes with the audio interface (called MIO console). This is my dream come true setup though being a bit complex. I wish you lots of fun & success on your MIDI guitar journey - if you have further questions feel free to ask.

I too have a 20+ yr old Godin Multiac SA that I used with a GR-55 for years then sold the GR-55 off as we all do sometimes...argh. But, watching you use the BOSS GM-800 changes my attention in it's direction. So, did I understand correctly that the Roland 13-pin cable MIDI from the Godin does not work well direct into the BOSS GM-800 without the GKC-AD converter (200+) here on the west coast of NorCali. The 13 pin cables are much less expensive on Amazon (short 10') as on Reverb they are almost 100 bucks (20') meanwhile you inspired me and the fire has been lit. However, I can not figure out how I would conveniently mute the GM during a song if I just wanted to hear my guitar only for a portion of the song. There seems to be no switch on the GK-5 to allow muting the sound.
