A quick video reviewing all you need to know about praying mantis care! Includes fun facts about a rare species- Parablepharis Kuhlii Asiatica.
I knew about Hermit Crabs chirping, I heard one chirp years ago, but until now I didn't know why! Distress, "help!". Thanks for the info!
Hi, Can you tell me where in the "South West" you hear them? And as well - Is there anywhere in Europe one can hear them
I love all amphibians reptiles and insects. Even when I was a kid i loved them all. I raised amphibians from egg to land and also have kept different insects i collected same with amphibians. I only kept 2.
my katydid is missing a big leg 😢
those shells in the suitcase are so pretty. ❤
Can you poke holes on a lid if you don’t have a mesh lid?
Care video on hermits please 🙏🏽💜💯
If it’s winter and there are no leaves how do you care for them?
Maybe use kale or lettuce
I’ll gladly gift you the one in my garden
There are also "broad winged bush katydids " that are found in the northern midwest that are confused with the angle wings "broad winged katydid "
I've raised so many katydids, you are absolutely right on how to care for these creatures. You have to keep upping the size of the enclosure as he grows. There are many insect species that use spermatophores for reproduction like crickets and mantises.
Spermatophores are not gross. Especially when you breed them!!!
I only have 5 mins of free time rn so this little 4 min video has helped so much. Thank you!
You are underrated, this is great! Everything matches what I've observed over years of keeping katydids. One thing though, you said they molt 4 times to reach adulthood. I found some eggs of this species and raised them. After 3 molts I could see the wings forming, and another 3 molts later it was an adult, so 6 molts. May I ask where the number 4 comes from? This is an old video so if you don't answer that's fine, but I am curious. Also, going by my katydids' molt schedule, it appears yours has already molted 4 times 🤔
Absolutely right. I also raise katydids and most species have 6 molts until adult.
I right now have a pet katydid he is very cute 😊

I caught a katydid yesterday then it laid eggs then it bit it’s leg off
this guy is underrated for a video like this
can i save a dead baby karydid?
Where can you buy one?
Love the hermit crab video. Would love to see one on their care.
actually the oldest hermit crab was at least in his early forties! and we have proof haha - his owner bought him in the 70s and there's multiple accounts of him, yknow, being around!
Very good and informative video great job 😁👍
Hi I got one accidentally... I put it in water n added lil aquarium salt. Thanks for the video. I will take it out of water. Can I keep it with my fishes? Will it eat them?
If they sting you all you have to do is squeeze their nose
Love it
Mine has 25 years living with me. They can live for more than 40 years.
Awww he’s kinda cute
Great video! Could you please do a video about caring for your Purple Pinchers? Will be patiently awaiting that notification 😊
SO CUTE
Care video on hermits please !
oh, katydid break up with me
Make sure to mention the abuse that goes into getting wild caught hermies.
You do have the old lady that claims to have had her crab for over 40 years. I think he did die this year (2021) or last year (2020).
So they're basically mini coconut crabs?
Great quick tip video. Very informative, I really enjoyed hearing the scientific words and comparisons to other similar creatures. I’ve recently purchased four on my beach trip and really want to give them the best environment. I want my crabs to comfortably change shells but idk how to set up its habitat. Please do a video on how you got yours to survive so long. Thanks!
woah, finally a GOOD hermit crab video, and not some mom who made the mistake of buying them for her 5 year old, or pet store people telling you a bunch of garbage. And yes, 40+ years are what these guys can get to. I have a purple pincher who is about twice the size of yours. So just imagine the age :0
Crab Central Station is a pretty good source of information. She (like many people) buy them because their kids want them. As for me, my daughters were with their grand parents one day and came home with 2 of them. I immediately started to try and find information on them and it can be extremely confusing. It's now been 6 months and they seem to be doing well. I have seriously updated their living space, pools, and food.
You did great! Well-made. Easy to understand 🙏
U have a great narration voice!
Do they eat fruits? If so, what fruits do they eat?
They mainly just eat the foliage
I took one in as a rescue about 2 weeks ago and they absolutely will eat fruits depending on what you give them. When i dice up apple slices for my bearded dragon, I make a side dish for mine, and it loses its mind. Its like giving a kid a bag of candy
How to care for cockroaches 🪳?
Sadly their one of the most abused pets, also their not true crabs 🦀.
what is it then
@@gta5vids589 their more closely related to squat lobsters.
Excellent video, especially explaining their habitat in the wild. :)

I currently have three happy crabs in a 55 gal!
