The map covers Southwest in the provinces of Negros and Panay Islands. This part of the country used to be known for their sugar cane plantations and sugar barons who were Spaniards. I am one of the Filipinos who can speak and understand Spanish. I watched a documentary in Spanish unfortunately there are no English captions, a post World War II memoir about Filipinos of Spanish descent like real white people who survived the Manila Massacre and the Liberation of Manila in 1945 that also recounted the founding of a militia group of Basque sugar cane planters who engaged in guerilla warfare against the Japanese occupants in the islands of Panay and Negros during WWII. You are mostly Filipino but that Basque ancestry is spot on just based from this history. The abovementioned history is virtually inaccessible to people who do not understand Spanish. Ignore the hate. Nature/genetics works in mysterious ways. I was in Brazil early this year and I found out that anyone could be Brazilian contrary to the stereotype. Notice how many Mexicans look Filipinos as well? Their indigenous traits are more prominent than their stereotypical European.

The last names does not necessarily tells the ethnicity cuz during Spanish era so many Filipinoes were forced to embrace Christianity and took Christian names or Spanish names. We came from the Malayan raise and some mixture of Chinese. We are from the brown race having Spanish blood does not necessarily a good thing either your great great great grandmother was a labandera of a Spanish priest, maybe a former nun, a daughter of farmer or a woman who went to dance in ubando. FYI: when the Spaniards colonized the Philippines, they took away lands from us. The spanish documented it as theirs and the legit owners either worked for them or were killed. To register the remaining native Filipinos, our ancestors were asked to take the name of their Spanish masters to easily tell which slaves were from what land. There were Filipinos who were given options to maintain their clan name maybe because these are the powerful rich natives, the rebels or their masters are more humane than most. The Filipino mestizos have more prominent features and I don't want to burst your bubble but you are definitely not mestizo. NEXT, since we have land bridges during the ice age your descendants travelled far and wide. That small percentage of european dna got so small because your great grand(nth x) lolos and lolas opted to stay and breed in the Philippines for good. most of the commenters here do not have any idea about the meztizas and meztizos in the Philippines. Their skin is white, they have brown to light brown hair, brown to light brown eyes. They mostly come from the Visayas and Mindanao. They definitely carry the genes of spanish colonizers and/or other race from Spain colonies that came to the Philippines and intermarry. I, for one came from the south and have white skin, curly brown hair, brown eyes. My cousins have very light brown eyes. Characteristics not of pure Filipino. The reason why you can't take these "tests" at face value is because the results are just statistical inferences about your genome. They do not provide a standardized scientific analysis of your true ancestry. Scientific journals have published articles about this. Your family history is a much more accurate way to determine your lineage. If you could get your hands on official documentation, that would be a huge help. Odds are, they're going to be offline- in your ancestral home and hometown in the Philippines. Based on your family background, you definitely are of Malay and Spanish descent. Probably part Chinese as well, because most Filipinos have a drop or two of Chinese blood.
