Max Savage blends mystic lyricism with rock and roll swagger to create a live show that moves effortlessly between country, blues and soul. Evoking landscape, memory and a sense of the profound, his songs are filled with tenderness, heartache and the bitterness of loss.

Savage was born in South Australia and started playing music as soon as he could stand. He began performing with the False Idols in 2011 and has been touring constantly since. He’s taken his songs to every corner of the great Australian landscape in the interim and notched up an astonishing number of live shows.

While the music sits is informed by a healthy respect of folk and Americana traditions the songs are bound inexorably to the Australian landscape and culture and sit amongst the lyrical tradition of Paul Kelly and the Go-Betweens. It’s a live experience that is explosive, breathtaking and utterly unique.
