Completely lipsynched; I suppose to maintain the aura of delivering the perfect version of the song they made it look like the band could record it live just like the one in the studio.
With the unplugged basses with loose strings, I got sidetracked and almost didn't notice that the audience was full of 10-year-olds. Listen to them shout "yay" at the end. :)
Wow, I remember this! I was 16, & the Cure are still my favourite band. Just saw them recently in Sydney too, we were up the very front. Incredible experience.
Thanks, watching them on countdown all those years ago singing Primary got me into them, saw The Cure last night in Sydney, amazingly not only do they still sound brilliant with no support act they pretty much played all their songs for 3 straight hours.
I saw this go to air on Australian TV. They made an impact on me. Style. The loose strings made me laugh .... I got the message that they were reluctantly miming. Still My favourite Cure song.
Great song from a great band. Qui aurait cru à leurs débuts que ce groupe originaire de Crawley allait devenir intemporel !!!❤❤❤❤
what a fucking soud!
GAHAHAHAHAHA too good
Gracias 💙 🇦🇷🤍 ...
One of my favourite Cure songs and them trolling Countdown was fantastic
The biggest slap in the face to an artist is paying them to mime
Completely lipsynched; I suppose to maintain the aura of delivering the perfect version of the song they made it look like the band could record it live just like the one in the studio.
Nice loose strings......
Back when they were a young Punk band.
Post punk
@@kevincorgan1576 The stage had a Punk aesthetic.
@@spongerobb1894 I meant the music but yeah.
so many years later, this song is still amazing, the baseline is a classic, a timeless piece of music!
I think . Morriseey was the direct opposition to th cure .. even thom cure started in 1979, i now
*not as good as Iggy Pop's abuse of the 'live' medium, though* ruclips.net/video/-7bVozMrPfI/видео.html
Smith completely taking the michael out of this moldy cheese TV program by playing with the limp strings on his axe - priceless
it can never be the same
oh, please don't change
You can tell they hate to lip synch..........they know they are better live..........
Sweet adolescence ! Hear the applause at the end, the public are just kids. Did they know the luck they have seeing Cure ? ( even in playback )
With the unplugged basses with loose strings, I got sidetracked and almost didn't notice that the audience was full of 10-year-olds. Listen to them shout "yay" at the end. :)
And they are all clapping with their hands above their heads. Is that how Australian kids clap hands?
Give Me It though..
at the end you can see simon smashing the cymbal with his fist HAHAHAHA
Best live performance ever ... energy levels are at the max though Simon looks lacklustre and let the side down
The contempt was palpable, no self respecting band wants to lip sync their own song. The '80s media controlled all that was visible.
1:26 - 1:30 Lol duckface
Not even pretending to play!
Robert look like James Bond , aww he is amazing but this is playback :/
My favourite show of them
hilarious
Quelle magie sonore. Incomparable !
What do Smith plays?
no, i mean wtf he is doing
playback
they never liked to do this ,playback is a facking shet
great times
They hate miming don't they.. Robert doing the strum, Lol bored shitless and only Simon making half an effort. hahaha
i finally saw thew cure on youtube. i am a metal head but robert smith is fucking awesome
So funny how RS was so un animated whenever he had to lip synch- but his concerts are so vibrant
Wow, I remember this! I was 16, & the Cure are still my favourite band. Just saw them recently in Sydney too, we were up the very front. Incredible experience.
Wow they sound EXACTLY like the album!! haha 'hats off to Robert for standing his ground. We will not Lip Sync we are real musicians!
lol you're trolling, right? their live performances did sound almost identical to their studio work, tho
T K you can see he’s taking the piss by how he’s strumming the bass. Not even trying. Did the same on a number of Banshees “live” performances.
Thanks, watching them on countdown all those years ago singing Primary got me into them, saw The Cure last night in Sydney, amazingly not only do they still sound brilliant with no support act they pretty much played all their songs for 3 straight hours.
... gosto muito dessa canção .... adoro aquela versão do disco CONCERT ..... :v
What can I say? Masterpiece. My fovourite.
Finally get to see this clip ....bout time .. Love it. .
Darkes!!!!!!!
The cure siempre me trae grandes recuerdos de los ochentas ( secundaria)
I saw this go to air on Australian TV. They made an impact on me. Style. The loose strings made me laugh .... I got the message that they were reluctantly miming. Still My favourite Cure song.
Ben Affleck is that you? Simon was soooooooo cute.
+JenniePlusOne he still is
Yes you are quite right. he looks great for his age.but he was just adorable in his youth.
+JenniePlusOne ikr :)
Cool.
ja! musicos como estos jamás mueran! :D in your face!
OMGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG !!!!!!!! THE BEST !!!!!!
gdzie się podziały pierwotne uczucia odczucia nie ma ich nigdzie nie ma
Damn Roberts strings are so loose
+Mindy Caruso They did that on purpose as they were not allowed to play live.
+Karen White yeah i know lol I was just stating a fact! thanks though
;D
+Karen White they weren't allowed to play live? I'm not sure I follow.
Samuel Smith When bands used to play on Countdown they had to mime to the recorded version..
playback
+Captain Obvious REALLY?!?
forced to
