Thanks so much, so far I stopped crashing at that damned Ostagar bridge. Hopefully I'm not speaking too soon and it continues to go well. Just a note, I ended up ruining the fix and having to do all the steps over again after downloading certain mods, so be careful there. They say something like "this mod needs a more current updated game" or something. So just be wary with adding mods, I decided to just say fuck it to mods, just wanna play finally lmao. Also do not verify the integrity of the game files as that will also undo the changing the .exe file.

I appreciate the detailed and simple instructions. However, I still can't get the game to launch in full screen mode. I keep getting the "Failed to detect a supported video card" error message. In fact, the DA Configure tool won't properly display the display adapters. If anyone has other troubleshooting suggestions, I'd appreciate it.

HUGE THANK YOU! This was the only thing that worked for me after trying so many other things. The only thing that is different for me is that the neither the desktop shortcut or playing from steam will launch the game, it just causes it to crash saying I need a 'CD key'; I just launch the game directly from the file in bin_ship and it works perfectly! And at this point I'll take it lol (Also, NOTE that I was not able to download my DLC as listed in step 6 until I ran the game once, and I just mean go into the title screen and then exit out, then I did step 6 and it worked perfectly and I have all my DLCs; don't know why that happened but thought I'd leave a note in case someone is having the same hang up there.) Huge thanks again!!!!

i don't know why but when i try to replace the file, it says i can't. i followed another tutoriel but the only thing it did is delete my dlc's and not fix my problems. so yeah, i think i'm going to pass playing origins, enjoy the game for me

Wow! Hello, I live in Korea. I'm new to the Dragon Age series, and I was having trouble with the game not running after purchasing it on Steam. I came across this video through the steam community, and I was able to solve this problem with 3 minutes or so. Thank you so much.

Did everything up until double-clicking the UpdateAddIns in redist, and it just goes up halfway and stops... Any idea on that?

got it to work using EA installer...then repairing all files....see if that works for you guys!

It worked for me, I can play normal... But what I didn't like is that the game becomes Steam independent, as if I wasn't playing the game through Steam, it doesn't count the game time and it seems that I have the game closed.

Thanks for taking the time to help us out! I followed your directions very closely and hit play in the steam library only to get timed out "...wait while collecting information...". After several tries, I was about ready to give up when I thought about trying DAOrigins via Documents. Bingo, it works! I checked all the DLCs and other campaigns. They are all there as well. I don't why it won't start in Steam but will start via documents. Anyway, thanks for taking the time to figure this out. Can't wait for the new Origins.

This solution worked for me save for one extra step. After I did everything in the video, I found I still needed to do the step where I needed to make a fake .xml file called "systeminformation" and placed that in the documents>bioware>dragon age folder. Essentially, you make a notepad file and save it in that folder with that systeminformation name. You need to navigate to the notepad doc and change the .txt extension to .xml and after that, the game loaded up from Steam like normal. Thanks for this video, it really did help!!

I'm not good when it comes to downloading other files and adding them to games to get them working but I was able to complete this easily and now I can enjoy a childhood game... Thank you so much for the easy instructions!!

It's not working! When you start the game, the launcher is loaded in the steam and crashes. The game does not start.

0:42 because Nvidia is now controlled by greedy, sneaky, dirty fuckers I bet. The whole Cyberpunk (and other garbage games with heavy RT graphics) to me looks like a carefully pre-planned scam to increase market share, by making games favor RTX. The amount of reflective surfaces in Cyberpunk is just totally unnecessary. In addition to garbage baked raster to make RT look good. These halls sure look nice, but for a game like Cyberpunk, the reflections there (if it were done in moderate amounts) wouldn't matter. No one gives a shit about detail in small reflections during normal gameplay. And where detail needed (like here) it can be baked. And no loss in performance. Should be looking for tech to reduce performance requirements in getting the same image quality, not the other way around. The gaming industry is in the shits with all the microtransactions and RT trash.
