@@rm4213 Put a good Screen, if still no image, it's likely the backlight IC. You getting shorts around the MAX Chip or something?

Unfortunately, it sounds like your Retimer Chip is seized to the board. I had to do 1,000° Fahrenheit @ 120 LPM airflow for about 45 seconds for the last seized Retimer Chip I did.

Take the backplate off and examine the volume button area. The rubber piece is probably not quite correctly seated, preventing the volume up from working.

@@sblgamesinc i will try but pressing isnt the issue cause I can press it (even before reassembling I had the battery connected and tested the ribbon cable where vol - and power button are located with plastic spudger but only vol + didnt work). That’s what Im trying to figure out

The M92T36 Chip? I use different temps depending on whether I'm removing or installing. I always tin the chip as well. Helps with achieving surface tension.

Temperature is very important, but airflow is key 🗝️ as well!

Yes, it is. I made some final tweaks before testing. Aligned first, then "set" the chip by applying pressure from above along with heat @ 850° Fahrenheit. And lastly, I touched up the edges to confirm there were no bridges and all solder points made a solid connection.

If I was able to review and edit the footage, I would've added more, then posted. My editing skills are pause and un-pause. ⏸️ If I play it back the recording is ended. Can't wait to get my HD camera setup. No more lost recordings from being interrupted by phone calls.

If the client hadn't already picked it up, I would take a picture showing the last (4) of the serial match the Switch in the Video.

It's funny to me because when I make more thorough and longer Videos, I get less views. But then when I omit recording steps to keep the videos shorter and get more views, I get a comment that doubts my skills, and accusations of switching out the system. 😆 The 4 numbers in parentheses are the last four numbers of the serial number of the device. This particular device was repaired for a B2B partner shop. Yes. As long as the Joy Con "catch" doesn't get too worn down to not work, this will solve that issue.

@@sblgamesinc to me, replacing a connector contains risks, like damaging a pad... Attempting to clean the old connector is the safest and easiest to do. Sometimes the customer asks for a replacement because he doesn't know better but we should guide them through the most economical and ideal repair choice. Sometimes the replacement is needed and sometimes it's not worth the time and risks

They decided to take the "we don't move it" route until I showed them the numerous pics outlining the damage. Got an approval by Morning. Mentioned and recommended they pay extra for Insurance. They of course declined. 😆

I'm very sorry to hear that. It is advised to watch a Video several times to get an understanding of the task, whether you are capable/skilled enough to complete the task, and what tools/equipment are necessary to successfully complete the task. I try to mention this in nearly all of our tutorial videos. One should always watch a Video several times to get a full understanding of the task at hand and whether or not you have all the items, and more importantly, skills necessary. If you do not have the necessary skills or tools, you should not 🚫 attempt the repair. I'm sorry to hear that you made a costly mistake, but hopefully you also learned a valuable lesson too? I also do not have or use any video editing software. If I did, I would polish up all the videos with warnings and a disclaimer in the beginning, a list of the necessary tools, and the required skills necessary. Once I can find trustworthy staff, this is one of the tasks they'll be assigned. Trimming videos and adding disclaimers and tools/skills lists.

Final Note: When disassembling electronic devices, it is never advised to try and rush through something especially if you've never done it before AND if there is ever any resistance DO NOT 🚫 FORCE anything! There is likely a screw you missed OR you're doing something incorrectly which will lead to damages and disappointment. When you're in over your head, it's time to call in the professionals. I've been repairing electronics for 20 years and even I make mistakes. But knowing when to stop can save lots of heartache. I had a client that brought in a switch with (4) stripped screws. My question? After you stripped the 1st screw, why didn't you stop? 🛑

It was the BIOS chip. The client declined the repair, thus no part 2. But that issue is almost always the BIOS chip or UART.

Reminds me when Latitudes were good. Last good one I bought had screen breaking warranty. It is obvious it is actually insurance, quite costly, but placates people who literally break a laptop in half and want it replaced under warranty. And the top levels who could be entitled latitudes and OG ThinkPads always picked that option.

@@Mordecrox Speaking of Dell. I've got a Vostro 1710 from about 12 years ago. Still works just fine for what it's meant to be capable of. Only needed a new battery cause the old one wouldn't charge anymore, a new wifi card because the old one was like... top of the line for its day, but bottom of the barrel now; and an SSD upgrade because why not. And best of all, those pesky zero day exploits like spectre and etc... they don't work on it. Too old a CPU to include the hyperthreading and IME like we have now instead of the original that most didn't bother worrying about back then prior to Nehalem.
