      Puede haber sido cualquiera de las cosas. Al final, no me arrepiento porque tengo muchas razones para volver a San Sebastián y seguir probando. A veces nosotros los foodies nos tenemos que arriesgar un poco para experimentar tanta delicia. Gracias por ver mis videos!

    Headed to San Sebastian in October! Can't wait. What time would you recommend showing up to secure a tortilla at Nestor?

      You’re gonna love it! It’s hard to say what time to show up because I failed so hard (food poisoning kicked in the same day as my first attempt). There are two tortillas per day, so if you miss in the morning, you can try again in the evening. I would recommend trying for 2 hours before opening, so 11AM or 6PM. Roughly one hour before opening is when they take the reservation. That gives you enough time to stroll around the center for a little bit before heading back. That said, things might be a lot quieter in October, so you might get away with turning up 1-1.5 hours ahead of opening. Good luck! 💪

    Great video! You must have had enough tortilla patatas for 6 months. It would be great if you could have a rating system so we can compare between the many many pintxos you tried

    I would recommend the pintxos morunos at Melilla y Fez. You can ask them for the salsa picante on the side which is GREAT, if you like picante.

    This is great, thank you. We've visited most of the places you filmed in. Antonio is our favourite - the mushrooms/foie/egg is incredible. When you're next there, the pig's ear in Borda Berri may be my very best pinxto. We're there at Chrismas, so will order that for you!

    El primer pintxo que tomas y eso no es un pintxo. Es como comer kebab el mismo rollo, nada que ver con la cultura básica de pintxos, eso es tema Maghreb, así q con 1 minuto ya se que no tienes ni idea de lo que hablas 😘😘😘😘😜😜😜 Ahora bien agradezco que no pongas música flamenca, en la trampa turística de la plaza nueva y el mercado de la Ribera

    Excellent first result, much better than I had back in the day. Still a couple of things I would like to clarify, as a Spaniard. - Tortilla rarely has green peppers in it, that´s a just a very special variety. It´s usually solely made with potatoes and onions (some people even prefer without onions, God knows why). - Caramelizing onions on a frying pan is a long and painstaking method, so I just use a much faster method, which will give you 90% of the final result, with 10% of the hassle: slice one big onion, then add a spoon of brown sugar, a spoon of salt, and put it in the microwave for 5min at max power. Then add a spoon of olive oil, and mix it well, you don´t want the onion to burn. Add another 4-5 min to the microwave, and rectify as needed until the onion gets caramelized, not burnt. - The mix of eggs, potatoes and onions should rest for at least 10-15 minutes, since it will make the potatoe juicier and tastier. It´s the time to rectify with salt. I personally like to add a very slight touch of crushed black pepper, although most people don´t do this. - About the frying pan, it´s not that great of an idea to mix it up too much, since you want your tortilla golden brown on the outside, and moderately runny on the inside. But if you get the "center" of the tortilla in direct contact with the frying pan, you´re going to overcook the inside, and therefore get a thicker, less creamy tortilla, as it can be seen in your image. Anyway, tortilla is a very simple and very rewarding dish, but it takes a long time to learn how to cook it to perfection. If you ever try these steps, let me know how it goes. Best!

      Wow! Thanks for all of the advice. This was an attempt to recreate one of the tortillas that I tried in San Sebastián that definitely uses a few unconventional techniques. I think that’s one of the beautiful things about tortillas is that there’s a million ways to make them! I’ll definitely let you know how it goes if I end up trying your method. Thanks for watching!

      @@TheFoodieFormula Me permito hacer unas puntualizaciones: - Nunca pimienta en la tortilla de patatas. - Puedes caramelizar las cebollas con antelación y guardarlas en un tupper en el frigorífico. - Nunca añadir azúcar para caramelizar la cebolla de una tortilla de patatas. AOVE (aceite de oliva virgen extra), cebolla, un poco de sal, fuego lento y paciencia. - Muy bie el consejo que te ha dado el comentario anterior, añadir la patata pochada en caliente y la cebolla caramelizada a los huevos batidos y dejar reposar unos 5 ó 7 minutos antes de cuajar la tortilla en la sartén. - El pimiento es opcional. Es otra variedad de tortilla de patatas muy rica también. Tu primera tortilla tiene muy buena pinta y seguro que estaba deliciosa. Enhorabuena!

    Landas ( in English Landes) is a region in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine, southern France and close to the French Basque Country. For those who didn't know, the Basque Country is split into two countries: Spain and France. The "foie" that is normally served in bars all around Spain comes in bars as chorizo, it doesn't matter the length of the name, it is in bar shape. Anyway, if you people know how is made you'll never eat it again: ducks and gooses forced to eat until their livers are inflated and ill and then... that's the foie-gras. When you eat foie or foie-gras you're eating pure cruel animal torture. ruclips.net/video/xEym2rbd-L0/видео.html The tortilla de patata must be consistent enough to put it on a bread slice or a bocadillo (not sandwich, bocadillo is made with real bread), you eat it with a fork... it's tortilla not soup. There are two culinary wars in allover Spain: one is with or without onion, the other is egg cooked or liquid. There's a third one less known and is about to cut potatoes in slices with a knife or "cracked" in small pieces. The second choice is more traditional and liberates less starch (that doesn't need).

I’m gonna have to try cracking because I’ve been a slicer this whole time without knowing there was an alternative! Now if only there was a better alternative for foie gras.
