Slimes Wave of the Winter 2022 Champion
Golden child or dhd ee Juliette?
Thanks for comparison to Driver 2.0 and Monsta 10! It helps a lot.
Is a triple board bag?
That was a Quad Tim took but O&E make the Apex in a few varieties - www.slimesnewcastle.com.au/collections/o-e-apex-covers
Do you prefer this or the Super Twin?
They are a great combination in a quiver with the Cat for 1-2ft and the Super Twin 2-4ft waves, but if I could only have one of them it would have to be the Super Twin for the bigger wave range
Shredding 🤙
is that a fish or shortboard cover? and what length is it please?
Its the fish/shortboard quad (so you can use it for both) and that one is 6'4
Great thanks.
Super helpful, thanks for sharing :)
Sound not good...
Can I ride with thruster fins in smaller waves?
The fin boxes are in twin fin position so thrusters would make it tighter, you could always try in bigger surf and you never know... but odds are it wouldn't work
Yeah
More made in Taiwan pollution..
can you di review on the xero
ruclips.net/video/ijbMqdJScVg/видео.html&ab_channel=SlimesNewcastle Tim has already done one!
Price?
It varies with number of boards, length and wheel vs non-wheel but you can see them all here: www.slimesnewcastle.com.au/collections/o-e-apex-covers
Thinking of getting one of these for a Indo trip! I think the round tail on this would go insane!!! Great review guys!
good review , and the board looks responsive and fast through turns.
How would you compare this Inferno 72 VS xero gravity JS
Hello!!! Have you surf the inferno 72? Wich one you recommend between the XG and the 72? Thanks !!!
I haven't tried a Inferno 72, but the Gravity is slightly more high performance/designed for better waves. It's got a lower rail and is thinner in the tail - Tim
I got the carbotune xero gravtiy in the upper end of my volume range. Feeling a bit sticky off the top with ando blackstix fins (large). I am only 77kg what fins would you recommend? I have the new js carbon fins in large but think I my be better off with the mediums (so don't want to use them as I could swap them). Any fins recommendations for the gravity in carbotune?
Either use a looser large fin (Eg. P8 Pivot) or go down to a medium - if you're near Newcastle we have demos! I normally use a medium AM and am using Neutral F6's in my Gravity Carbotune Tim
What do you mean by it feels “sticky”?
How does it compare to the I72 in terms of wave range and general usability (easier or harder to surf)?
I haven't tried the Inferno 72, but looking at the outlines I would say a very similar wave size. I always find quads a bit less predictable than a thruster so less forgiving and harder to surf but magic when you get it right Thanks, Tim
@@slimesnewcastle sweet, thanks for the insight!
Hey guys, How does this compare to the og flyer?
I haven't tried the OG Flyer but based off the shapes the Gravity is a bit more high performance - less paddle power and speed but will perform better in a bigger/steeper wave. Would probably rather ride the OG under head high waves and the Gravity above head high
Goin on Slimes?
Thanks for the review just got the carbon. Two advises: get a mic, and get rid of the music
Great rundown- how’d you compare it to the puffer fish? Is the puffer fish designed more for a steeper face? Cheers
Hey Bob, I've only ridden the newer Puffer Twin but yep that is a little more responsive and a bit better in steeper waves but definitely not as fast Thanks, Tim
❤
How much sir?
Nice review! I just got a Hayden shapes hydro crypto. It is a pretty good short board but I will be getting a 5’1 lost drover Grom soon cause I just started surfing over head to well overhead waves (I’m 4’9) and 10
Nice! How big is your Hypto?
Do u guys have an opinion on the light speed version?
Ollie just got a Lightspeed one to try so stay tuned!
Ollie Here! Personally I find the Lightspeed to be much more responsive than the PU. It's really helpful in smaller conditions, holding speed through the flatter sections. Although the PU is great in more powerful, winter like conditions, the Lightspeed shines in 1-4ft waves.
awesome! Do you think the lightspeed version will still hold well in strong winter like conditions? @@slimesnewcastle
so now what is your favorite quad fin set up on the Inferno FT ?
H4's!

The MRs behind you look good. These shapers need to return to the double-flyer swallow channel bottoms of the 80s. The same old single-to-double-concave is bullshit and doesn't work for heavier guys, and especially in slop. It works in good hollow waves ... and how often do we have that?
How would you compare the Inferno72 Vs the CI Happy Everyday?
They are so similar I just had to measure them in store! The Inferno is a little bit wider in the tail and nose so will perform slightly better in bigger/better waves
Thanks :) @@slimesnewcastle
Sick mate!
Not as good as yours Wooly you legend!
Those boardies Mick!
The old Ray Richards shop, got my first 3 boards from Ray and Mark and my first Dick Brewer cosmic rider skateboard.
Great review. How would you compare the XG to the Pyzel Phantom? Thanks
Much more high performance - less paddle power and speed but will perform better in a bigger/steeper wave
Fantastic review. Some really great info and man, that board has beautiful looking lines on it.
What would be a equivalent fin from Futures to the Mayhem’s from FCS?
I reckon the closest would be the Pivot series (P6 for Medium and P8 for Large) - Tim
I've just thought that the emergence end popularity of the good mid length has probably a lot to do with the fact that many great shapers are shaping these boards as the boards they are transitioning to themselves as they get older. Being around the same age I'm loving it. Stay tuned for the MR mal in a few years 🤙🤙
Just getting started. MR says "the inspiration for the mid length? I'm not really sure." Could it be all the people eager to buy mid-lengths? That's one to consider, Come on MR. He continues by saying he rode a 7-0 for a week and he caught waves easier, waves he might not have caught on a shorter board. They're going deep into the development of the mid swallow twinnie.
Cheers!
That’s interesting how a raked set made the board feel too tight. A Performer, Accelerator, or something in between like The Kolohe’s could work a treat. Appreciate the insight 👍
What's the difference between this board and the js monsta box?
Very similar, but goes better! - Tim
Just ordered one with the help of your surfing footage. I had a monster box and loved it, so hopefully, this one excels.
Hello.hew you cimper this board to payzelian 2?
I haven't tried a Pyzalien 2 but the Gravity is more high performance/designed for better waves - Tim
What model is the pad ??
O&E Flight - www.slimesnewcastle.com.au/products/ocean-earth-tp59-flight-grip-ocean-earth-tp59
Legends 🤙
MR’s once in mad dog here in byron👍. Few years back Johnny Morgan stepped outa mad dog after decades. Such a great surf shop mad dog was. Great guy John. Seeing all the MR boards on display pure gold!!!!!!✌️❤️
Mark, a board THAT wide i would NEVER put a Concave in…………………..
Problem with all mids is shortboarders want the paddle & float but they don't perform like a shortboard. Plank riders hate them cos they're not as floaty, don't paddle anywhere near as good and they don't trim like a plank. Be warned unless you have ridden shortboard twin fins in your younger years, then you may hate a mid twin fin. You have to learn how to "skate" and tail surf them across faces rather than dig the side rail in like a shortboard. And, all mid videos feature good surfers on good waves - your 2-foot onshore local slop won't allow these boards to perform. Surprise!
True!
thanks '! slims', the red boards sick! mr! contoured beeks' like stussys 1980-90s boards', bitchin', stuff', peace
My first new board was a 6.2 Mr twin,1979 wish I had it still
What do you think of the Cali Twin? I’m thinking if getting one for an indo trip coming up. I’ll like it because it’s wider but just not sure how it will go in more hollow waves.
Cali goes pretty good in hollow waves but the Puffer Twin goes even better! - Tim
Twin Pin is a better choice for that.
