As I learned to braid I became fascinated maybe obsessed with tension, torsion and flow in whips. Whips were interesting because they move energy, how that energy flows.
As I learn and explore braiding in both natural and synthetic materials I will happily bring you along with me on my adventure. I had to design from first principles and physics as well as feel my way through the process of exploring what shines forth to me.
The world needs more makers, more creatives exploring what they see and creating solutions. To that end I freely share information with other makers as knowledge shouldn't be lost when a whipmaker dies. My hope is that this channel outlives me to inspire others to play and create.

Want a single loop for 4 strands where the loop can be a closure?
Here's one way to spin 2 cords, pinning them with a bleed knot, spinning the cords into twine and pin them with another bleed knot. This produces a 3mm twine loop from 1.5mm round braided cord and it can be used as a closure loop for a bead on the end of the macrame or other work you choose to make.

Showing the process of beveling the lace after wet stretching it to an overall width of about 5mm (4.8mm) or just over 3/16" and just under 1/4" I beveled a few shorter pieces in this video and then a 75ft or so long piece, then cut the video and did the 125ft piece. I didn't want to bore everyone to death watching the same stuff over and over.

Raw lace a few hundred feet long cut from a single hide in a single piece, stretching resulted in the string broken in places, several pieces 12 - 15 ft, one piece maybe 75ft and a long continuous piece about 125ft long.

One way to bevel 1mm kangaroo thread, some possibly useful ideas you might want to try. One of the issues when you get down to thread you may encounter is that the lace is roughly square, in this case the strand is 1mm x .82mm thick. This is a lightly shot loaded 4 ft thong, has 1 4-12 plat whipmaker cord belly, and a 4-16 plat overlay laid backwards, or inverse from tip to hilt floating on the core. handle is 17" heat formed cpvc with a steel weight in the hilt and is covered in industrial shrink wrap heavy rubber like coating.

This is a prototype whip braided Tip to handle, 550 paracord. Testing a concentric lightly shot loaded core braided backwards 4-12 plat. Handle is cpvc coated in an adhesive shrink wrap, hilt has a steel weight and is heat formed.
