Hi, I'm Dave, and welcome to my grand adventure. After a few careers I decided to retire from teaching and hit the road. In June of 2024 I shipped my 2003 International 3800 skoolie from the US to Liverpool in the UK and am now travelling around Europe. It's fully self-contained and I also have a little Honda Monkey motorcycle in the back for all those narrow, twisty or city streets. Join me on my adventures!
US Skoolie in the UK - The last video in the UK??
Hopefully the next video I upload will be from Germany or Italy. I am down near Dover getting ready to take a ferry across the channel. In this video I discuss GPS/Sat Nav errors, hedges and trains.

US Skoolie in the UK - Back on the road again!

Finally back on the road after 10 days in Sewardstone. I decided to play with my GoPro 11 to get some exterior shots of the bus while driving. Figured out how to sync them up fairly well so I hope you enjoy this little trip through Waltham Abbey and Waltham Cross. #skoolie #skoolielife

This was a test of the fractal wood burning kit I made before leaving the US, but using 110v from the bus inverter and onboard batteries. I have a few ideas for making things using this technique, but needed to test it first. #skoolie #skoolielife #fractalwoodburning #dangerous #dontdothis

Ulverston to York pt 2 - Arriving in Poppleton

The second half of my trip from Ulverston to York. I found a small parking area for the night in Poppleton, just outside York. If you ever find yourself here, try the Lord Nelson pub just up the road, good food and drinks! #skoolie #skoolielife
Ulverston to York pt1 - leaving Ford Park

I visited Ulverston to see the Laurel & Hardy Museum (which was great!) but then discovered the Sir John Barrow monument. Both Stan Laurel and John Barrow were born in Ulverston. Stan went on to be half of the best comedy team in the world and Sir John Barrow went on to promote exploring the Arctic region. Barrow Straight, Barrow Sound and Barrow Point are all named for him.

Great video! I hope you enjoyed your visit to East Sussex & Kent... I'm (Liz) from Tunbridge Wells originally so I hope you had a lovely time. Safe travels on towards France ✌️
Thanks Liz. It was nice to relax a few days before jumping the channel. I'm down near Frankfurt now and it's sweltering hot.
Hi Dave, I have enjoyed following your tour, seeing how you are getting along with our roads. You have had an eventful time and I hope you have enjoyed it, that was some concentration on the A262. Good luck and best wishes for your adventures through Europe. Tony and Jane.
Thanks for following along. The video doesn't do the A262 justice, but I'm not going back to get more footage! (I probably will, knowing me.)
cool could see my red transit at 52-53 seconds
Better get yourself some knee sliders. 😂. Ride safe. Jim
Poppleton, part of York 🤣🤣🤣 Don't tell them that
Totally awesome bus, thanks so much for coming to our festival 🚐❤️
Thanks! I plan to be back next year.
Good luck Dave - good to see you when you popped into the branch at Waltham Cross
Thanks. I have the lights all mounted and they work well.
Get you mr Teci with the Go Pro 👍

how many of you guys were there
@@cashcaswell4153 There were 1009 rigs at the fest, a tremendous turnout!
Did you try anymore ? Ita always fascinated me, such a giid looking afect ❤
I've done a few more, but I'm working on ideas for more projects.
@@London2Turin cool are you planning on some interior affect ? I've seen something done incorporating epoxy on the final design, I'll see if I can find it and send you the link via message.
@@avancalleddignity I might look into the epoxy, they do look great.
@@London2Turin oh it looks so good 👍 Ive sent you the link on insta.
Did he say " big old rigs in there " ? a different way of referring to Gresley "s masterpiece, and the beautiful streamlined Coronation Scot.and other locomotives in the development of railways. Come on 😮.!!
Guess I need to brush up on my British rail history a bit....😏
Pleased to help our 🇺🇸 American friends
The Original Film The Italian job one of my Favourite films of all time .

Thanks! Having the Monkey has allowed me to see some really cool places!
Love the video! It was great to meet you and thanks so much for the shout out ✌️. Safe travels and looking forward to seeing your next few videos!
I was in York in February for a week visited the Railway museum, the City is my Favourite to visit
I plan to get back there to explore more, it looks like a great city for walking.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RAF_Fylingdales
@@firstfreonwarrior well that explains it!
Whitby is lovely, I hope that you had a walk around as well? there are places that you just can't get to in/on a vehicle. Also a trip to nearby Robin Hood's Bay would have suited you... much, much less commercialised and very, very pretty.
I walked around a little near the swing bridge. I saw Robin Hood's Bay on the map, but will have to check that out later. It does look interesting.
Driving through Bishopthorpe to get to Elvington is a very strange route to take, although I guess that your satnav could have picked that route to get out onto the A64. You should definitely think about a return trip to York though, there is so much more to the city than you appear to have seen. 😀
Yes, I do plan to get back to York and explore some more. I've also questioned the routes the GPS sends me on sometimes, but it also knows the weight and height of the bus, so that will be a factor.
@@London2Turin Hmmm... there were routes which were both more direct and on wider roads with no height restrictions. All that aside, it's great to see someone enjoying my home city🙂
I don't always go driving on the wrong side of the road, but when i do, i make sure to do it with my entire home in tow! Power to you!
Had a ride to Whitby for fish n chips on my bike and sidecar from Stockton on Tees and saw your big blue scoolie - she stands out man !!!
@@collyoung6017 Yes, she is easy to find in a parking lot......
The hearse is built on a Australian Ford Fairlane - don't think they are in production anymore due to the EV rubbish !!!
@@collyoung6017 thanks for that information.
OK what was that all about????? i only watched cos i live near york
I got a lot of looks on this short trip so decided to try a compilation video. The previous one shows me driving through downtown York.
That was a big jump Whitby to London. Hope when you go into Europe the videos are still in English (American) 😂
I'll do my best....😆
Cinder Track. Great views
Enjoy a ride out to Whitby on my yamaha along with daughter on her yamaha. Fish n chips on the quayside. Bliss. Step back in time. Good to also explore on e bikes with wifey too. Scarborough to Whitby along the old railway track. Enjoy 👍
Nice to see you made it 🎉
First time watching you. Came across your video by accident and have now subscribed. Nice to see you driving in my home county of Yorkshire. It would be great to see the rv, and that engine sounds good. I'm looking forward to seeing more videos. Great job.
Thanks for subscribing and I'm glad you like the vids. I have some earlier videos I made with a tour of the bus before I shipped it over if you want to look at those.
Thanks for your reply, will watch the videos you mentioned.
Why the fuck did he stop at the refuge so long, people just took the piss. Ignore them.
Was that the little bridge at 6:20?
Hi Dave , been to Whitby many times but never been to Sandsend. What a nice little place that is. Looks as though our weather is being kind to you. Good luck. Best wishes Tony and Jane.
Sandsend is much less commercial that Whitby and great views. The weather has not been bad at all!
Hey bud, great vid. I met you in Milford New Hampshire at the bike get together at the 101 at the rotary, glad to see you bus made it!! Have fun I’m the guy that had the Indian FTR
Great to hear from you! It's been a blast over here! I hope you are doing well.
Glad you’re getting to see our neck of the woods. Yorkshire known as “Gods own county”. Carry on enjoying. Jim 👍
Thanks, next time up here I will try to spend a few days exploring the city.
As is Gloucestershire so don't worry about all that blather.
Where are the elements?!
Don't think I saw any!
These are domestic hotses left to fend for themselves.
If these beauties are wild than I'm an alien😂
You should call a rescue service to get them, they need to be taken care of if they are use to that. Call a rescue service.
It turns out the campsite management is aware of the horses and they are working on finding the owners.
Wild horses would never approach you and let you feed them berries. My 36 yr old mare doesn't even like strangers.
not wild. they either got loose and were never found, or were turned loose because the owner could no longer afford to feed them. if they were wild, they wouldn't have approached you.
Looks a buusy fun filled time
Yes, they had lots of things going on to keep everyone busy, or you could just hang out and chill. There is also an air museum onsite which has some cool planes.
Great to see you out enjoying the British summer at last. Enjoy
Today has been decent with just a little rain in the morning. Overall, not a bad 5 weeks.
