Being able to transfer skills from one hobby to another is so rewarding - reminds me of Karate Kid - Wax On - Wax Off ;)
Awesome! lolol Agreed! People told Tony his whole life he looked like the Karate Kid! lol
All I seez is a beaky, and an ugly onez at that, yeah!?! Howz I'm suppoze to dakka dat fing? Tiny, innit?!? Hey, Gordozz, take me arm here an get me a burna!
Unless you're painting large models, such as vehicles, paint them on the sprue, before gluing them, as it's a lot more difficult to paint a model already completed.
Thanks for the advice!
Wish my 1st model came out this good or my 99th for that matter Strong choice on model though I approve lol Victoris aut Mortis 😂
lololol Ty! :)
New subscriber and amazing job and you did an amazing job on the model
Awesome! Thank you and nice linking up with you! :)
I'm confused how she has never painted minis before but the background is full of kits and painted minis.
Hello! This stuff is from our business Pody Products. We've gathered up stuff and got our paint studio now up and running, but I personally have never painted a model until the one before this one. Tony has painted hundreds though! lol.
Keep painting, you can only get better
Will do! Ty!
Better than my first paint job. Well done. 😊
lol Ty!
Woah! Wait those are warmachine minis back there! Any chance for videos around those?
Eventually, for sure! We love Hordes/Warmachine! Good eyes! :)
It does look good. I will give no advice. Like I said before I do believe here soon you will shock us all. You can tell by how you pick you colors that you understand what needs to happen.
Hey! Thank you! This one was painted by me though, Tony, not Stacie. lol. Thanks for the compliments! Your encouraging words are very appreciated, my friend
See already a lot better than your first. Again great job and keep it up. Can’t wait to see the next one.
I was wondering if you'd see this second mini and comment something like that! lololol Ty! I think I did much better with this one. The studying and researching to learn techniques, after reading the advice in the comments, I was way more prepared. I'm excited for the next one too! Feeling more confident already :)
For a first time you did great. Keep it up I believe you will have us all shocked on how well you paint miniatures.
Thank you! That's so nice! You rock! :)
Please understand that you don't have to present those obnoxious mannerisms such a jolting at the camera, slapping you fist into palm, etc. Those are all fake enthusiasm mannerisms that so many people copy from one another when making videos. Just do your best to be yourself. Perhaps talk to Stacey so that her nervousness goes away allowing her to talk and yours goes away so you don't feel the necessity to fill every pause with something from sound to movements. I'm not trying to be harsh. I had to sit my son who is becoming a streamer down and have him watch a dozen of the top vloggers. They don't act like that. They talk how they would in a socially public sphere. So,just la Bernat then camera. Know you can just throw away any footage or cut something out and be yourself. The more true to yourself you are, the more fans you will pull in. Look at Linus (LTT), Mr. Beast, Johnny Depp, Daniel Greene, etc etc etc. just be yourself. We already love you!
I appreciate the criticism! I will do my best to be less nervous on camera. However, I am a bit hood and I will always be a little obnoxious because I guess I always am. lol. I'm an animated individual. I do very much want Stacie to feel more comfy on camera and I'll def try to let that come to light in the next vid we do together. I do want to create better content and will absolutely keep your criticisms in mind for the future! I hope that despite the flaws you still enjoyed the vid and some of our others as well! And I love you too, my friend, and hope to hear from you again! I wish you the best!
You didnt look too happy but thats way better than 99% of most peoples first models
Looked tired by the end of it! lolol Ty!
I’ll save you hundreds of hours of experience. When painting minis, just like your own experiences, white is never painted white and black is never painted black, use dark greys, off whites, shades and washes, obviously leave black where light won’t hit and use pure white to highlight extremities. Also paint from the inside out, with this mini you would look to paint all the armour plates and the face before doing the trims and the face mask for example 👍
Great advice! Thank you very much I will def keep this in mind in the future! Ty!
But how do you have so much stuff around and this is the first miniature? There are all around the office... I dont understand... My first work station didn't look like that Were does the stuff come from? I m confused
Hello! This stuff is from our bssiness Pody Products. We've gathered up stuff and got our paint studio now up and running, but I personally have never painted a model until this one. Tony has painted hundreds! lol. I hope that helps explain, and Happy Thanksgiving!
Awesome, but one problem. That is a taper on a stick for firing a cannon, not a torch. The coil around the stick is supposed to be the rope which has a small glowing dot on the end which is lit. If you want a torch get some tissue (toilet paper is fine), pinch off a corner about ass big as your thumb, press in the middle and folded the corners up to make a little pouch. Twist the top to make a twisty little tear drop shape. (USE TWEEZERS!) Hold tear shaped paper and apply super glue all over. It will get very hot and might even smoke a bit, its fine, just blown it gently to cool (also watch for fumes, if as well as not breathing, if the fumes get in your eyes it hurt, DO NOT RUB! JUST SPLASH. ) . The glue will only take a few seconds to mostly dry, make sure you apply glue to all the paper and it will turn rock solid. You now have a flame you can stick to any torch sized thing. You can also untwist the top slightly and flay it out to get more random flame patterns. Then paint as this video suggests. Good luck, happy burning! ✌️🤣 (As you can probably tell I've done this alot and made some errors 😂)
Awesome! Thank you for the advice! I realized at the end of painting this guy that it wasn't a torch! lololol I'll def look into making the cool flame you described! Ty!
@podyproductspaintstudio no problem, sorry for the spelling problems was busy while writing that lol. Also, I did the exact same thing with the stick for the first one of these I ever painted, it was someone in my local shop that told me, easy enough done 😅.
you really do seem so nervous . everything is going to be ok lol
Is it that obvious! lolol Ty! I'll hang in there :)
Has probably already been said but: 1:1 paint and medium. Either the expensive professional stuff, or water with a little soap or alcohol or window cleaner or...to keep the paints wet and to break down the surface tension of pure tap water. Some also use simply distilled water instead. For layers of transparent paint, simply use more medium.
Cool! Thank you for the advice! I'm def going to be practicing this with my next mini! :)
I totally bought some stuff off your eBay account :)
Awesome! Nice linking up with you! :)
You'll be broke soon. There is no way back. Welcome to great pile of shame club😂
I just watched your first video and then saw this second one. Glad you listen to the community for some advice. Looks great. One small tidbit I could offer is that if you “choke up” (move your finger grip closer to the brush hairs and grip the ferrel, metal part) you can gain more control over the brush. The further you choke up the more control you get for finer details. But, the further you choke down the more flexibility for larger sections. Good luck!
Hey! I just saw you other very helpful comment too! lol. I am def going to try choking up on the brush, I think it's an old habit from painting canvas I'm going to have to break! lol. I love how painting minis is so technical and there's like steps to it that all fall into place to make the minis look great! Ty again and I hope you have a great day, my friend!
@ Yep tips tricks and techniques from the community will definitely make life even easier for mini painting. It’s a great community welcome to it!
@@Joe_Smo Thank you! Love the community! So far, very welcoming! Good vibes :)
Well looks like you can paint a straight line so that’s half the battle. You did good. I agree with other commenters, learning how to thin your pants with a little bit of water to the right consistency and paint multiple thin coats is good early technique to learn. There are painters like Ninjon who paint straight from the pot and do great but at some point you may want to learn glazing, stippling and edge highlighting which all thin paints for some effects like smooth transition, smooth texture and smooth coverage respectfully. Also I recently switched from dry pallet to a wet pallet and I absolutely love it. Paint stays fresher on the pallet for longer and much easier to work with. Like others suggested, I highly recommend you look at getting a wet pallet and watch videos on it! Brushstrokes channel has great tutorials on thinning paints, model prep and wet pallets I highly recommend. No affiliation. Good luck on your hobby journey excited for you!
Awesome comment! I love the advice and am looking forward to learning all those things! The glazing, stippling and highlighting. I'm really enjoying this new journey! Thank you very much for the advice and kind words of encouragement! You rock! I feel super pumped about it now. lol
It's clear you did some research and gathered a really good set of tools for the task (wet palette, good brushes, good lighting and magnifier), I wish I had these when I started (several decades ago :S). Excellent work and good job on the basing! Keep at it and keep practicing! Its fun to take your first few miniatures and compare them to where you are a year from now! You'll be shocked at your progress!
Awesome! Thank you! I plan on painting a lot so hopefully I'm pretty good a year from now! I hope! lol
Staying cozy over here ! Nice work and good description
Awesome! Ty!
Well done! My only advice is: Keep on having fun!!
Love that! You got it!
"Not the best way, but an easy one", just excellent! Keep on going guys!!
lolololol Will do! lol
Easiest way to start is to Prime Black, Zenithal highlight, use Speed paints, then final highlights. I've painted over 300 minis and tried most every way. Titanforge minis, MCP minis etc. This is the most self encouraging and progressive way IMO...Give it a try.
Awesome and ty! I will do!
Someone from a Facebook messenger group I'm in had kindly gave me a Blood Angels Librarian Dreadnought since I'm wanting to make my own force of Nurgle-corrupted Blood Angels (Dornian Heresy) I honestly can't wait to make mine my Dreadnought into a Helbrute proxy!
Nice! Nurgle is my fav Chaos God! I'd love to see how it turns out!
PODY is one of my favorite eBay stores. Hell yeah
Nice! Love to hear that! Nice linking up with you, my friend!
When painting white it's a lot easier to just prime the model white and give it a black wash instead of priming black, painting grey, then painting a few layers of white on.
Good to know! Ty!
Love how you used the nuln oil to bring out the details with this one. Just be mindful to not let it pool on the smooth parts of the armor (unless your going for a real dirty look) thinly glaze over the flat panels of the armor and let it pool and soak into the edges of the armor pieces. Fantastic job on your 2nd mini, your starting off really strong. ❤
Kk. Awesome! Thanks for the advice, I'll def keep that in mind next time! And ty for the compliment! You made my morning! :)
Looks Amazing! Thanks for bringing us along.
Thanks for the compliment and nice linking up with you!
Wooow za lab looks amazing, the lighting quality is on point ✔️ really nice vibe good job 👏🏻 keep up the fine work <3
Awesome! Will do and ty very much!
I've been an artist my whole life and my husband just got me into warhammer and D&D painting and now I'm hooked!
That's so awesome! I'm getting hooked too! Working on my second mini now :)
Neat! So for white, it is the HARDEST colour to paint... but you should never paint pure white overall. Pick a nice cold grey, and then build it up very thin coats over and over brighter and bright,a nd only edge/point highlight the edges and corners with true white.
Cool! I started my second mini today and started with the grey and built up to white just like you're suggesting! It's meant to be! lol. Thanks for the tip!
Looks fantastic! Welcome to the hobby!
Thank you so much! I'm excited and glad to be here!
Great job, one thing tho, you need to grab a thin brush and some 'nuln oil' and very sparingly poke it into the recesses of the white areas to bring back the detail
Ty! I totally agree. Next time!
Looking forward to seeing the progression. And subbed
Awesome! Ty!
Raven guard and a character for your first mini is super brave. But congratulations, welcome to the club, say goodbye to all your spare cash 😅.
Also dont get bogged down with what is the right way to paint stuff. Do it your way. Its supposed to be cathartic and ive recently come to the conclusion that over analysing painting techniques & striving for perfection has resulted in 0 minis finished. Just throw paint on them and enjoy it!
lololol
Agreed! It's meant to be fun and loved! Will do!
Turned out great for a first mini! I cant imagine how tricky it would be doing this for the first time while having to worry about camera set up, lighting etc, makes it even more impressive. Citadels white paints are renoun for being one of the worst paints there are for flow or coverage, especially over black. Try a Vallejo White or Pro Acryl Bold Titanum White, they are much easier to work with.
Cool! Will do and ty for the advice!
Wish you the best with your journey!!
Ty! You rock!
Love the long format - Had it on at work and got a ton of inspiration for my next project!
Awesome! Love hearing that! Ty!
Don't talk over your co host, let her speak. Also learn to edit - you don't have to do everything in one take
I like the one-shot. If you can do it it saves a lot of time at the compi. Time you can use for painting minis. :D
People will say you should thin your paints and maybe use a wet palette. But I'm glad you had - and brought us - the authentic first mini painting experience. Welcome to the hobby!
Awesome! Ty!
I don't know why I never thought of doing basing over a paper plate like that. So obvious now but very smart! I'm glad you made sure the minis were lined up properly haha
lol
Yeah, go for it. But let Stacey talk a bit more. :)
You got it!
I'm here for the journey! I love your energy!
Awesome! Nice linking up with you!
Great result!
Ty!
0:48 That was my first box, too!
Awesome! That box was so fire. I have loved CSM ever since! I remember back then thinking that the chaos rhinos/predators, the terms, basically all of the CSM looked so much cooler than regular Space Marines!
