The difference in the good acting of Bill Treacher doing this as Arthur 40 years ago and Adam doing it as Ian recently is huge. It just goes to show how terrible Eastenders has become, with very wooden or awful acting and mostly superficial and obnoxious characters now on the square. It's as though they just read their scripts and don't bother to get into character and like the producers, people filming and script writers have become lazy and just want the money, spending only a few minutes cobbling together all the garbage episodes and stupid storylines. The scene with Arthur was done with effort and probably with numerous takes, but the scene with Ian looks like it was done in a single take and Adam hadn't even prepared himself at all.
