very useful information! thank man!
Hi. Just learning this program. Question: Why and when - what for. What is purpose of flattening?
Flattening has many purposes: We can prevent other people from modifying our markups. Likewise, we can ensure that our PDFs are fully compatible with other PDF programs that don’t have the same specialty markup tools like the Cloud+ Tool that is unique to Bluebeam Revu. Thus, it’s best to flatten all assets before digitally signing a document and submitting it to a municipality.
how do you manually add the items that get missed by the visual search to the same cluster/group of results?
@@FactorzGT1 We can’t add items to a group of “visually searched” results, but we can try to use “Replace Checked” or redo our search with less sensitivity. If that doesn’t work, you can copy a highlight, hyperlink, etc. to another object, and you can “Resume Count” by right-clicking on a Count Measurement.
Is it possible to convert that raster image/text to vector within Blue Beam Revu?
While this is atypical, this can technically be done by using the “Snapshot” tool. You can then paste the Snapshot and re-use it. However, the pixels will still remain pixelated, so you may want to use other programs to do this with actual vector lines/text.

best video series for dynamic blocks ever! thank you.
solid explanation on all 3 methods! I often wondered about the shared folders permissions, it was mentioned that it was automatic when using design collaboration. It would be nice if Autodesk showed those automatically set up permissions in the shared folder instead of being a sort of backend permission setting. I do still wonder though if the automatic permissions only apply when you create a team through the design collaboration module button to create team(as shown in the video), or if it also applies if you create the folders yourself (ex: arch folder, mep folder, etc)and then assign the team to that already created folder. Just for my paranoia, is there any autodesk documentation on the shared folder default permissions? I have looked but I have not found any.
This is a tough topic to outline effectively, so we appreciate your vote of confidence! I just did some testing here. Before creating any teams, I created the folders for Architecture, MEP, and Shared. The permissions did not include access for anyone other than the admins. I then set the Shared folder to be the one I had created and I then created the teams via Design Collaboration using the existing folders created. For the Arch team, I added Company A with edit permissions from the Design Collaboration side. This automatically applied the same level of permission to the Arch folder in Docs. It also added view permission for Company A to the shared folder. Then I tried adding Company B with edit access from the Docs area folder permissions instead. This did not give access to Company B to the Shared folder and in the Design Collaboration teams area, it did now show Company B as a member of the MEP team. But the permission level listed was "Custom" instead of Edit as I would have expected. Then when I updated the permissions to Edit from that MEP members pop up for Company B, it added view permission to the Shared folder for Company B. So once the teams are created, the work is the same whether the folder exists or was created. If permissions for a folder are set from Docs, it does show those members are members of the team, but they will not necessarily see access to the Shared folder unless explicitly added or unless the permissions are updated or added from the Design Collaboration side. They will be given view permission only which is all they need for linking, though you can change this manually in the Docs area folder permissions, though the point of the shared folder is not to work in there or have working files there. Ultimately, most of this can be done manually (minus the automation when sharing or consuming packages). Hope this helps!
@@DigitalDraftingSystems Thank you so much for looking into that, I really appreciate it! I will save this information as I am sure I will need to refer back to it, and read this a bunch of times to truly understand it as is the case for many things ACC, but I think I understand! In the past I have not done as you said and I bet if I check some of my projects, the permissions are set to custom. What I tend to do, because I was not sure if the permissions were automatic, is assign an EVERYONE permission to the shared folder with view only. Thanks again!
This was exactly the information I needed, thank you!
Thank you - so grateful
A line with text, but on a drawable spline line. Is that possible?
There is no easy way to do this. The reason is that Revit does not have built-in path array functionality. That said, it should be able to accomplish this using Dyano, though that is beyond the scope of this tutorial.
@@DigitalDraftingSystems Thank you for your response! Your video is very helpful for linetypes thank you.
Another option for rotated text is to set the UCS so the positive X direction is in the direction that the text is moving and the positive Y direction is toward the top of the text.
linking and package parts are still very confusing.
Agreed. I will try and get another video together to make it a bit more clear. We appreciate your feedback.
How to remove people from a Team?
In order to remove a team member, you will go to the Design Collaboration Module using the module selector on the top left of the screen. Choose "Settings" in the menu on the left side. Choose the "Team Setup" tab on top of the screen. You should see your list of teams here, click on the number under the Members column for the team you need to remove someone from. Here click the "Remove" button next to that person's name. You can see this button at 2:51 in this video.

How could I export an AutoCAD table to Excel and link it, in the same way that the Excel table is linked to AutoCAD, making the changes bilateral from one table to another ? I would like to make it functional from a genuine AutoCAD table to Excel, and what I know is that I can export an AutoCAD table to Excel, but it will only be values.
You can change the data in an AutoCAD table and right-click on it to select “Write Data Links to External Source”. This will update the data in Excel that’s already been linked. This is the inverse of “Update Table Data Links”.
@@DigitalDraftingSystems What you are suggesting is to change the data with an Excel table inserted into AutoCAD and mutually linked; I want to take my tables created with AutoCAD table tools and pass them into Excel with text and functional equations, not as is done with csv text export. It is to insert a native AutoCAD table into Excel.
We don’t think that a native AutoCAD table can be inserted into an Excel spreadsheet as an XML or CSV file. Using the “Update Table Data Links” function alongside “Write Data Links to External Source” are the methods we use to link equations and formulas into Excel and AutoCAD. If this isn’t working for you, then a script found online may help.
Thank you so much.
hello there, first thank you but how did manage the panel go all the way inside the mullion?? in my file it stops at the edge of the mullion profile!!
Are you able to provide a bit more detail? We are not sure exactly what is going on. Feel free to provide time stamps in the video as well and be specific as to what you see on your end vs what you see in the video.
@@DigitalDraftingSystems so when you go to your 3D model @0:45 I can see that the glass panel is overlapping with the mullion and goes inside the body of the mullion, whereas in my file the glaze panel ends at the outline of the mullion and doesn't overlap with the mullion ( I mean it doesn't go inside ) any suggestions? please bear with me if I couldn't explain clearly, english isn't my first language and thanks for replying
@@User_2026_ One thing to verify is that you are using the correct family template (curtain wall panel), otherwise the results will not be the same. Additionally, if edges are locked to the appropriate planes then it should work as expected.
How do you create a form field that once edited adds info to all the pages at once
You can right-click on a regular markup and select “Apply to Pages” after modifying it. You’ll need to delete the other markups if you continuously change the first one. This can be done easily with the Markups List by selecting all the markups that you want to delete. You can also use “Headers and Footers” to add text on multiple pages that can be changed all at once. If you’re using actual form fields, you can select the form field by navigating to the “Forms” side-panel and selecting the field. Then, you can open the “Properties” side-panel and scroll down to the “Calculate” section. You can input custom JavaScript code to modify multiple form fields on multiple pages at once.
@@DigitalDraftingSystems Thank you. Can you make a video. It will be helpful to others too.
is there a reason why batch signing would cause our Logo to not appear correctly?
There are many reasons why your logo would not appear correctly when Batch Signing a PDF: (a) You’re using an older version of Bluebeam Revu that isn’t updated, (b) your rendering engine is set to “Software”, (c) You’re singing a PDF on a network and/or with assets on a network instead of on a local device, or (d) Your computer is experiencing a bug that could be fixed by shutting it down for a few minutes. This is a very subtle situation that would benefit from troubleshooting by an IT specialist.
Having issues with switching between two lic on one laptop (client requirement). Autodesk connector is wanting us to delete cache, settings, and project data including files from File Explorer' before continuing. Obviously that is a reason to pause - solution?
Yes, that is correct. You can switch between two different Autodesk Accounts on the same PC. However, please note that the files accessible from one account will likely differ from those available to the other account. For this reason, when you sign out of one account and sign into the other, the Desktop Connector will require you to clear the currently cached Autodesk Docs data on the PC. This step is necessary to prevent conflicts and confusion with files from the previous Autodesk Account and to ensure you can add the needed projects under the new Autodesk Account. I understand this may not be ideal, but the system is not designed to facilitate frequent switching between accounts. This is likely why there is no existing solution to streamline this process.
Please stop with the lip smacking.
I must be doing something wrong. My grip is one extra offset distance away from the last cloned object instead of being on the cloned object.
Why are whispering? Fix your audio.
Great video. How do I get the array action to link to the rotation after rotation? Lets say I have inserted a block, rotated it to the correct orientation then I want to apply the array at that rotation. Hope that makes sense.
Thank you! When inserting a block, you can type “R” to rotate it before placing it. Then, your array will be in the same rotation. You can also edit the block and associate a Rotate Action with a Rotate Parameter, the object(s), and the other parameters associated with the array.
@@DigitalDraftingSystems thanks for the reply. I was hoping to have the rotate action within the dynamic block but alas, I tried what you mentioned before i posted and it didn't work for some reason. Further reading on the issues suggests you cant rotate an Array in Dynamic blocks
Why can’t I use the rotate tool in thumbnails ?
Surely this isn’t a premium feature
If a PDF has been digitally signed with “Document Certification”, its pages can’t be rotated. Also, some PDFs have security permissions that restrict “assembling” the document. This can be confirmed by selecting the “Document” drop-down and selecting “Security”. Exporting the document’s pages could create a new copy without security permissions.
Hi Ari, my 1st question is that how to change the unit column in Legend into sq ft, i.e. if you measure the wall in lineal length in ft, added wall height in ft, then if you toggle the wall area column, the legend only shows area quantity without the unit in sq ft. Could I change unit to sq ft in the unit column? It is somewhat misleading because the wall height could vary, and lineal measurement of wall may not be accurate enough. 2. I noticed your last column is in $, since I can't see your markup list in this video, is it a custom column where you had unit rate in $? Thank you!
The unit column’s data can only be changed if the markup’s units are changed. This can be done by selecting the markup, selecting the Measurements panel (It looks like a ruler), and changing the “Area” (Or whichever measurement’s unit you need to change) to something else. The Legend will automatically update with new unit info. We created Custom Columns for Quantity Takeoffs and Cost Analysis. We added these custom columns to our Legend, and they were initially created in the Markups List. Here’s a tutorial that demonstrates how we created them: ruclips.net/video/3k03yKMYWPE/видео.htmlsi=PxTrSgPWqjjKKdXr
@@DigitalDraftingSystems The column unit in my markup list is in line with my measurement which is Polylength, I have the correct Area unit in sf, since I set the depth manually, the depth times the lineal measure gives me area in sf., but the unit column is the unit of Polylength, which is set to be ft. I have the correct units in comments column, it's not the issue of unit conversion, it is not having the final wall are unit in my legend, it only gives your default Polylength unit which you set in under the 'ruler' icon to be ft or m. Unlike measuring a floor area, if I use area measurement in plan-view, it gives area unit, which is what we want. I didn't use elevation view to do my markups for wall area, I use line measurement in plan-view for wall first and add wall height, but unit should be sq in, sf, sq cm, sq mm, ac, ha, etc. What I'd like to see is having an area unit in the legend area under unit column if I started with length unit by Polylength measurement. If I want to know the volume for concrete foundation, I will start with area measurement, maybe in sf, then add the depth in ft, Bluebeam works out the volume, but the unit column is sf, but I'd like to see cubic ft, is there any way to achieve that, thank you!
@@Iany1997 Displaying more than one “Unit” in a Legend may not be possible according to our tests. This can be displayed in our Markups List, and we can create Summary Reports with multiple units and data. You can submit a feature request to Bluebeam here: community.bluebeam.com/bluebeam-community
HOW did you create the custom markup summarising the concrete area?
We created the custom “Concrete Area” markup by creating an “Area”, opening the “Properties” panel, and selecting “Edit” next to “Show Caption”. You can turn on many captions, including “Label”. Then, in the “Label” section near the top of “Properties”, you can type any text you want. It will display itself on the PDF after you select a blank section of the PDF or if you select another section, such as “Subject”. We created a tutorial for this around a year ago: ruclips.net/video/GB-IDWYzG3I/видео.htmlsi=ftPe_ohPdwunjh6Y If you navigate to 7:18 in the video, you’ll find the section where we demonstrate how to create a customized area markup.
Do we have to set the workflow by choosing somewhere whether the project has live linking or shared linking or shared and consumed linking methodology? Or is automatically determined when model coordination is turned on?
Hello. The Shared, Consumed and Live linking is all determined based on how the files are linked to and what workflows you follow when going about the project process (sharing, consuming, etc.). This should all be covered in the Docs and Design videos in this same playlist. From there, you can set whatever folder you choose to be your Model Coordination space and any project in that folder will be clashed.
You saved me man. Thank you very much for share your knowledge, keep it up!
