Huh wow, this video was first made only a few years after my parents were born.

It's so sad that the 2nd movie (Fruit of immortality) doesn't have an english sub, as far as I could see at least. I've searched for hours and hours with no luck... The 3rd one seems to already be on youtube with an english sub so that's nice.

In my childhood i had a Sun Wukong lantern ( electric lantern using pin to charging and you can handle it) with this version form of Sun Wukong. 😂 But those years i didn't know this movie 1964, i just know about the journey to the west TV series 1986( watched in my childhood). So i think the lantern shape is wrong way to made Wukong body, because i think it shape should like Wukong in 1986 version 😂. Then i know something of this 2d movie, and now i watching this in RUclips from your Channel. So now i know that my old lantern is inspired from this version 😅❤ Thanks for upload, i'm from Việt Nam 🇻🇳

In my childhood (1983~~) I recall seeing another version of animated uproar in heaven. In the first fight with heaven when monkey king fight nezha, nezha transform to a big giant while laughing at the monkey king, and the monkey king suddenly appear behind of nezha with a more gigantic body than the giant nezha and this frightened nezha. But I cannot find that version... 😢😢

Oh my memories, early 2000 in Vietnam, television was full of Wukong stuffs, this and the 1986 TV series, also the 1996 Hongkong version. Journey to the West era for me

I love this movie when I was young in China. It is a very popular movie all these years. My friend joked my fashion scarf with leopard print looks like the skirt Wukong wear, it made me burst into laughter immediately.

Wow! Black Myth Wukong led me to this video. Amazing classical 2D animation. Glad I accidentally found this one.

This is simply magical! I love how the music, animation, colours, backgrounds, and dialogue come together to create the feeling of mythical ancient China. Was this ever released in the West back in the 1960's? It rivals Disney animation of that time and has even more detail in the costumes and backgrounds.

1964 has more color saturation with more added dramatic background music, segments and action editing, and some changes in voice actors. Excellent re-release indeed, but let’s not forget that the 1961 was already very impressive, even by today’s standard. In terms of color brightness, I actually prefer the 1961 version but overall, this 1964 version is much better - nicer dramatics, more expressions from characters, more art details in the background, and just better overall. One has to watch both movies at least twice to see which parts have been edited because many scenes were retained that the some of the changes may not be noticed easily. I first saw this movie more than 30 years ago as a kid and the most memorable part for me is the fight between Sun Wukong and Ne Zha, especially the part where Ne Zha transformed into his ultimate fighting form with 3 heads and 6 arms but then was still bested by Wukong. The fight with Erlang Shen and their 72 transformation skills was awesome too but nothing beats seeing a kid growing heads, arms and size and became even more violent 😄.
