When I first got into eurorack, I had no idea what you were doing but really loved your musical style but now after a few years a lot of your older videos make much much more sense to me and I have been rewatching them. Thankyou so much for the commentary you did for them, but also I liked this one too as it was nice watching the process of seeing you come up with a groove. I want to learn how to play chords now on the keyboard like you did at the end - that was wicked. I also have many of the same modules and synths like you as they remind me of the sounds I used to listen to when I was in my late teens/early 20's when house music was just hitting the UK

Yes you could - the Crave had CV and trigger ins - it has a lot of CV modular capability with plenty of CV ins and outs

If I remember correctly, there should be a lower baseline so that the 'peaks' of the freq bands can be amplified. So id say that sounds normal. In fact now I'm thinking about it, I'm certain that's normal. It's been a while since I used the 914, but i remember the overall level dropping.

@@ZvookUK I have absolutely no ida about the melodicer. I've heard the name, and I know it is loved by many, but I never looked into it. I saw the Metropolix videos when it first came out, and it showed exactly the sequencing style I was looking for. It just took a long time to get to it among the list of other modules. I just ordered the Gx expander a couple of days ago too.

It’s the best I could do unfortunately- at the time I made this there weren’t any comparison videos and I couldn’t get my hands on a moog system 55 (I would have loved to have been able to do a proper side - by - side) so I lifted the demo from another video (details in the description). I tried to be as fair and accurate as possible given the restrictions. In the original video you can see what the demonstrator is doing and he also talks through what he is doing. To be honest I originally did it to satisfy my own curiosity but ended up sharing it and making a video for others who were interested.

Thanks! - I need to kick myself into action and make some more Metropolix vids (- I’m planning on posting one soon). It’s my favourite sequencer - so flexible and great for jamming with - loads of hand-on fun basically. Re acid lines - yeah repetition and variations in repetition. The accumulator is a great way to add variation too. I’ll have to post a vid up on that as the settings on the accumulator can be tricky to get your head around at first

Hi, if I remember correctly I used the noise (obviously) and either the square wave or triangle for the mid/bass ‘body’ of the snare, and since the MS-1 doesn’t allow envelope control over the pitch I believe I utilised the glide function from a high note to a low note at a quick setting for a bongo type pitch effect. Messed around with the envelope to get the right setting for snappy hit with a decaying tail. Then sampled a few “hits” and picked the best of the batch to use in the song

It does - just set the scale for the track and set the accumulator limit to +\- 1 and the accumulator setting on the stage you want to effect to either plus 1 or minus 1. It will then increase just one note up or down within the selected scale. You can go up/down by two or more notes too but the settings can be tricky to get your head around

You just patch one of the RD-8 triggers outs to the envelope driving the VCA and VCF that you’re using. And patch the Pitch CV to the VCO as normal from the 960. You just have to make sure they are synced together, so patch the osc out (clock/trigger) of the 960 to the RD-8’s sync in. The trigger outs on the RD-8 are 1/4” jacks so you’ll have to have a cable with a 1/4 mono jack on one end and a 3.5mm mono jack on the other
