Boss girl comes in, all female cabinet and lectures about the morality of abortion... Surprised her VP wasn't a blue haired lesbian of colour who dunks on all the balding white politicians... And they wonder why the show crashed and burned. There is literally nothing intimidating about Claire's character. She comes across as more of a less angry Karen than a ruthless killer like Frank. And all the people pretending otherwise need to take the pitty dick out your mouths.

Not sure why people are complaining about an all woman cabinet and defending it with "it should be the best people for the job" etc. Yes of course it should be the best people for the job, but that's not how it works. First, they have to be on your side politically, then probably from factions that supported you so you keep them on side, then some to the person who ran against you in the leadership contest to show faith and "unite the party", then you'll have ones with connections to donors or special interest groups, or hell, even your own family in some cases. It's never all the best people, but it is usually old men, because they've been in the game long enough to have those connections. The fact they're all being women shouldn't even be a concern.

When they revealed the all female cabinet, I lost a tremendous amount of strategic respect for Claire in this series. Being blind is one thing, but knowingly blinding yourself is another. Catherine Durant was so well-written, acted and executed which is why I loved her as a female cabinet member.
What exactly is your issue with the all female cabinet?

@@dustinberthold962You're missing the point. In the show this was a stunt by Claire to get a loyal cabinet without losing public support. It's been well-established from Season 1 that Claire is not above using and crushing anyone in her path, regardless of gender. And she'd never done this it didn't help her secure more power. It was just a move, it didn't come out of idealism. Now you can say that it is wrong for a politician to put power over the good of the nation. But it does happen, and this show has been showing that since season 1.

I do not disagree that Claire is not above crushing anyone in her path to secure more power; regardless of sex. Rather, I am making the point that Claire blinded herself in making the all female cabinet. To your point, she may have gained power, and possibly public support. I am being generous in the possibly public support. Rather, I am making the argument that by pulling such a maneuver, she blinded herself from unforeseeable consequences that will likely arise and should be weighed. For example, while Claire may receive initial public support(I doubt even that), her administration would be highly scrutinized by public opinion to the point that certain decisions would leave her in corners.
@@dustinberthold962 I do think you miss the point too. Both Frank and Claire pulls stunts to get out of Sticky Situations they are in AT THAT MOMENT, what happens in the future is afterthought. She was about to get overthrown, she has to do SOMETHING to solve THAT problem. Whatever problems comes with it later, she will deal with it later, that has been how Frank and Claire operate since the beginning of the show, and that is also how some Politicians operate in America.

This is one of my favorite scenes of the show! I Love Claire in this! It gave my chills when I saw the all female cabinet. And even though she clearly does this only because it helps her, not so much because she's actually a feminist, this scene is really good at showing how absurd it is, that solely men ruled during so long of history. And even though women are finally starting to get their fair share, they're still underrepresented in almost all of politics. Just image if from tomorrow on, all parliaments were filled with 60-80% men. That would only show, how unfair todays standards are, with the underepresentation of women. (And *yes, there are enough qualified women out there. Don't act like bringing more women into power means that they're less qualified.)*
