I am in 12th i was going for animation and vfx diploma after 10th but a relative who was in this profession told me to go for Animation and vfx degree after 12th. I am giving JEE rn i am really tensed about it now my plan is to get into a engineering college and pursue animation as a side skill while doing the engineering course. Do you think is this good or should i only go for one skill ?

Only to apply single job, it needs average of 15 connects on upwork. Its around 2 dollars. The lowest job cost if around 8-10 connects which is around 1.5 dollars and its a very rare scenario. For real the average job cost is around 16 connects and it goes way up more than 22 connects. Upwork charges a lot only for applying jobs. And the client will not even have a look on the job application. So the money is totally waste. I am working on upwork for almost 4 years and earning too. Since last two years I only rely on the invitation. Now the situation is worse, they charges almost 2 dollars for the invited job post too. I spent about 60 dollars on upwork connects. But most of them are wastage. I got only two jobs from that. Most of client don't even look on our job application. They just renew their job post. Back in days, I used to apply for 2 jobs a day and I am mostly likely to get a job in a week. Now it's almost impossible to do it without buying connects. The current scenario is you have to spend at least 50 dollars to get a job which you have to do it alone and can be of any amount(mostly likely low budget) and upwork still charges you 10% of the amount you earned. Does it feel fair to you? Upwork says it they are doing this for better work environment. I just want to leave upwork now and just join another platform, join studio or create assets for marketplace. I haven't got a single job on upwork for almost 3 months now. I am really frustrated of their policies.
