Lil' Troyer Farm
Канада
Добавлен 8 июн 2023
A little bit of farm life in northern British Columbia, Canada! We both grew up around Angus Cattle and horses and have since started our own little farm on 10-ish acres. Our farm is home to our little family, followed by three dogs, 2 cats, a number of dairy goats, and some semi-misfit horses. It's a joy to care for these animals, and I intend to share the good, the bad...and occasionally... the ugly, that comes with farm life. We love Jesus, and the topic of faith will come up as we share our adventures. I hope you join us!

Weanling Foals Are Ready For Winter | Orphan Foal | Canadian Winter | Small Farm Vlog

At the beginning of 2024, I never envisioned that we would have foals born on our property. Not one, but two foals joined us on our farm this year, including the heartbreaking situation with Sugar that left Ladybug as an orphan. We did our best to ensure she could live like a real horse, giving her space to learn proper equine behavior. Both have grown remarkably well, and I'm so excited to wat...

This Is Why I Dread Winter | Winter in Northern BC | Farm Vlog

I'm struggling. I'm struggling to stay warm. I'm struggling with crazy kids stuck indoors. I'm struggling with freezing my fingers. BUT, this is also why I have animals. It forces me to get outside EVERY DAY. I get some fresh air, my brain gets to breathe in a different way, and I also get some exercise trudging through the rising snow levels. It's crazy to think that some people don't live lik...

Welcome to Lil' Troyer Farm! Located in northern British Columbia, we are diving into the heart of our winter months. Temperatures are dropping and the snow is accumulating. It's a more rugged life up here than many are used to. Our animals grow thick winter coats to help them stay warm during our cold months. We provide them with access to shelter, extra food on cold days, and continual checks...
Day 7 Horses In The Winter | What Kind of Predators Are Around Here? | Small Farm Vlog

It's a rugged life. MOST horses live happily outside their entire life, seeking natural shelter when the weather turns nasty. I've seen panicked people say, "Those animals must be so cold, they have lots of snow on their back!" This life isn't for everyone. It's a combination of compassion, love, common sense, logical thinking, hard decisions, and educated actions. If you enjoy watching realist...

Day 5 of 10 minute farm vlogs!!!! Day 4, answering some questions!!! Welcome to the farm! We live in northern British Columbia on a little over 10 acres. Our job has been to start this farm from scratch, to make it suitable for goats and horses. This past summer we managed to finally fence the remainder of the property, which was a huge step in the right direction. Automatic waterers were installed as well, which makes such a b...

Fence feeding seems to have the added advantage of preventing them from pooping and peeing on there food (mostly, at least) and that has to be a good thing too. Thanks for the frosty video :) PS love the Cdn Beaver hat -- glad it is keeping you really warm, your head at least.
Would like to see Ladybug's leg... no more tape? Hope it straightens out completely.
Love the hat! Hubby did a great job!!!
Love the beaver 🦫 hat!! You’ve got one talented guy there!! 👍 All of the horses look great and very fluffy!! Lol I love how they all love you so much and want your scratches!! Great vlog today!! Keep up the great work and thank you for sharing!! Keep staying warm!! 💜🐼💜
Hello from Milton fl hope you have a goood day I like your horses
😊🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
I can’t get over how thick their fur/ hair has grown. They all look amazing. The babies are doing well, and giving the mare space is good so she can fill out over the winter after feeding them both. She was such a kind generous soul taking on Ladybug.Animals know and understand a lot more than we realise…It looks cold out ther but the beauty of the snow on the ground is always so lovely to see.We had two days of about two inch snow. But our chances of a white Christmas are very Slim.I know we had one 43 yrs ago when my youngest was born.Very few since.Yet where I live in the uk used to have bad snow storms, deep ones too.I was born during one lol!..But I lived in Cornwall and Devon for most of my childhood and hardly ever snows there at all.Funny being on a small island the weather even is so diverse.I am just grateful we don’t have the cold temperatures as you do.Sending love to you both and the children 🥰
I love feeding the horses on solid and clean snow
I watch several channels of ranchers, they said not stacking round bales stay better
What kind of trap does your husband use for the beavers? What happens to the beaver meat? Do y’all eat it?
Love the hat! I'm always lots warmer if my head, neck and ears are covered. Your hat looks warm and toasty.
That’s is a lot in US we only pay 80 to 100 dollars for a year ❤🎉 you are so lucky and we love your videos ❤🎉🎉🎉
What if you put a heavy duty panel in front of the stall opening and tied plywood sheet to it to act as a wind block and bed that down pretty heavy. So that would give them a spot to lay and feed on the open side. What I picture and how it comes out of my mouth is not always a match. 😊 My horse always ate the straw. I had to use sawdust shavings.
I loved the truthful about farm life and I love goats 🐐 and dogs ❤❤❤❤🎉🎉and progress of the farm and starting it😊😊😊
You are so frugal and loving for everything ❤❤❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉🎉
Lady is doing great 👍 ❤and leg are getting stronger and straighter 😊😂❤❤❤❤❤❤
Try molasses over the med to cover up the taste them
I shouldve thought of that! Great suggestion, thanks!
I live where we get 115F summer days sometimes. This is a wild video for me to watch. -- I didn't think you did anything weird. Does that mean I'm weird too? -- My Icelandics would love that, but here I have to clip them.
115 F? Yikes! That sounds like a furnace! 😬😅 That just means we are both a good kind of weird! 👏😁 Oh I imagine that your Icie's would be too hot with their coat!
Thank you for sharing all parts, including the little lost boy. From my point of view, you did everything right.
Thank you so much.
Hair is great 🎉❤❤
You are so real and trustworthy 🎉❤
Thank you 😊
You go girl and I hope you’re feel better 🎉❤❤❤ your husband is so great too 😊❤❤
I love how you have been catching up on all the videos! Thanks for watching and for your support!
God bless you honey ❤
Thank you so much. 😊
Great gifts 🎁 the folks are so giving ❤❤🎉
Hahaha with minus 20 my little hairs in the nose are always frozen, too 😂. Awesome Paddock and shelter for the weaners ❤. Well done! How tall are they? I need to measure mine, currently she's more wide than tall 😅.
😅😅 I feel pretty embarrassed, but oh well!!!! Just a realistic part of living in cold climates haha! Hmm, great question, I will have to measure them!
BEAUTIFUL Horses.Great work on the new weaner suite! I especially like the pallet over your heate
Thank you so much! Haha, gotta get creative sometimes!
@@LiltroyerfarmThank you so much!
Great job with the wiener suites. Praying for all of you. ❤
Thank you kindly! 😊
That set up looks great! And gives the foals a lovely warm place to sleep. Well done for setting it up by yourself. The girls are looking really good and healthy ❤
Thank you Claire! 🥰
Oh my I was laughing at your singing then felt super guilty cause you were so cold and stressed 😢 but you got there in the end. You really are a trooper! And I agree on the blanket thing. They are a last resort. The trap moisture and can cause mould and actually hold the cold in. Your shelter is the best idea. I really hope the wind dies down soon ❤
😅😅😅 It was shared for a laugh! Yes, blankets can often do more harm then good. Unless it's multiple days of -40!
Great work on the new weaner suite!! They will be happy to have food to eat without competition!! Super glad you got new gloves too!! The old ones had seen better days!! Lol All seems right at the Lil’ Troyer Farm!! Thank you for sharing!! 🐼💜🐼
They seem to be loving it so far! Unless I feed them last, then they get impatient. Haha! Super nice to have fluffy gloves to keep my hands warm!
If you don't like the cold climate, why are you living there? All this complaining is just to make this video. You're a phony.
The Weiner Suite - for the cutest little Weiners. ;) excellent set-up on sturdy divider. I especially like the pallet over your heated waterer-though my ocd would tie it at more than two points on each sides as big horses are going to try to get at the foals free-feed hay. Really excellent set-up :)
Thank you! Yes, I made sure it was tied really well- even though it looks primitive lol! I keep a close eye on it to make sure nothing falls over. 😊
👍🙏♥️✌️
A very nice play pen 😊🤣😂 Glad you got new gloves.
😅 play pen, I love it.
The youngsters will be fine once they have been away from the lovely Mare who just keeps feeding.Shes kind but it does not do her good to keep feeding on and on does it,she needed the break. Both youngsters have come on really well this year. The new area will be great for them to have space or share and play if they want..They will be fine.We had Snow in the West Midlands in the U.K. where I live.Lasted two days then it started to rain in the early hrs and was gone nearly when I got up.We have a big storm due bringing high winds and snow as well as rain .I am not so bothered about that it’s the cold that gets me.The flat I live in has like a patio door and it seems to radiate the cold into the front room. When you have chronic arthritis from head to toe ,you suffer from that cold ,so end up under a blanket most of the time to keep warm…Radiators on but the cold does not care..lol!..Sending love to you both and to the children 🥰
Yes, she needs a break! They will do well with extra food for their growing bodies! Oh no! I wish I could share our warm fireplace with you! That sounds very painful and chilly!
Good job!
They are BEAUTIFUL Horses ❤❤❤❤❤
You're welcome 😊 🙏 🤗
You are great farmer 🧑🌾 and things happen ❤🎉
Sorry for your loss 🎉 best wishes for Ladybug 🐞
Thank you!
Love leftovers 🎉❤ happy
How long do you have between utter trim
Hmm, I don't really have a timeline. Just when it starts to get harder to quickly wash before milking, then I give them another trim. 😅
Some people in USA only have 10 to 15 acres 🎉❤ you should not down play your farm ❤🎉
It is a blessing to have for sure. Although it has been challenging due to it being mostly trees and bush!
We all do that 🎉🎉
I just love you! Singing, talking and you crack me up when you’re in stress mode. Same same😱
😅😅😅
So we did a fall thing. We cut down trees and had a party. A work party of sorts. A bunch of guys. And rented a splitter so the guys cut the trees. The girls split the wood and everyone stacked as much as we could. Had big bonfire and cooked chili and hotdogs
Sounds like plenty of fun and productive work!
Cat licks feel like they’re exfoliating your face! Where do the dogs sleep at night? Do you see the northern lights?
🤣 That's true! The dogs sleep outside in an insulated dog house. 😊 We do see the northern lights!
Funny lady bug wants to see if jitterbugs is better.
Wow that’s cold. We haven’t even had a hard frost here in my part of Oregon. My dahlias still have some flowers. But with the wind and rain nothing looks good.
Oh girl, you need some insulated coveralls! and a ski mask And some hand warmers. I have a friend that makes them like little rice or corn bags you can warm up in the microwave and put in your pockets. They help like the disposable ones but reusable. And I love your chit chat! I do the same thing! Especially when I'm stressed or anxious about something
I love the little rice bag idea!!!! I'm going to have to try and make some! Insulated coveralls might be a next year purchase! Trying to save up money to buy a milk machine currently! 🫠
Goodness so cold you can barely breath.
