A nice sledder off Signal Hill in Cape Town, SA. Got a great site briefing and familiarization with the area in hopes of bringing my own gear in the future. The Cape Town paragliding community couldn't have been more helpful and accommodating. Heinrich nailed the calm wind landing!

A breathtaking flight near the town of Paarl, South Africa. Located about an hour east of Cape Town, the terrain is dramatic and the people are friendly. Launch from Du Toits Kloof Pass was easy and lift was everywhere. Local pilot Stef accompanies myself and fellow US pilot Josef on a climb up vertical faces and over high peaks. Unforgettable.

North of Cape Town, South Africa, the small town of Porterville hosts some spectacular paragliding amid wine and tea country. The Flying Lodge is a great starting point for some incredible cross country flying. Launched from Dasklip Pass and flew up and over the range to the town of Citrusdal.

Pioneering a new tow site for West Central Florida paragliding. Located southwest of Fort Meade, Florida, the area is unpopulated and primarily old phosphate strip mines. The site features a 1.5 mile east/west tow road and a four mile north/south tow road. The four mile road is cut in half by a crossing power line yielding two runs of approximately two miles each.

Learning to Spiral Dive

Sunset flight over Lake Jackson in Sebring, FL. My first attempts at learning the Spiral Dive maneuver on my Ozone Geo 5. Warm up with two stalls and then right into three dive attempts. Thanks to my instructor, Tom Mistretta with Dragonfly Paragliding for the nice tow and radio work.

Paragliding the Skurweburg area three hours east of Johannesburg, South Africa with the Bambi Flyers. Encountered wild blesbok (South African antelope) and incredible new friends. Three nice flights with top landings. Experienced an asymmetric collapse and tandem wake turbulence.

Paragliding and safari adventure near Johannesburg, South Africa. Skywalk Adventure Sports provided a convenient and spectacular launch and landing zone. My Ozone Alpina 4 performed well. The Lion and Safari Park brought us close to some of Africa's animal treasures.

Nice, Tim, and I see you upgraded from your Geo in Jamaica to an Alpina! We flew there in 2018, but didn’t make it over the ridge to Citrusdal. 👍🏼
Beautiful Stearman!!!!!
The Stearman is a fine airplane. It is a tad heavy on the controls, when doing maneuvers, but the plane is heavy and the elevators are like barn doors. and you have to horse the controls. We bought our first Stearman in 1865 and flew her for seven years, it was my first tail dragger I ever flew. When the opportunity came it allowed us to get into a low hour engine and newly covered Stearman, very cheaply. We sold the first and got into the rebuilt one. At that time, I hung out at the airport all the time, inly a lucky guy !and got to fly many different aircraft. I bought mt own Bonanza 35, in 1966 and a little later, bought into a Republic Sea-Bee, which I got out of three years later, to go into the "Metal Fabrication Business. I flew the Stearman mostly, and kept it and the Bonanza until the early 80's, when I sold both planes and wound up married ! I know now, I should have kept the airplanes ! I learned aerobatics, and put on little shows all the time ! I'm 85 almost 86, and still dream of the wonderful times I had during the almost twenty year flying career, I was certainly a lucky guy !

I think I found my sweet spot in the Alpina 4. I am climbing easily and gliding efficiently. Options open up when the performance is there. The glider is more "active" than my B wing which then requires closer attention and small timely responses. As a faster wing, it does like to shoot forward a bit faster than my Geo 5 and sometimes asymmetrically when caused by the edge of a thermal. I have already seen the issues of soft tips and a horseshoe launch if you don't set up correctly or get ahead of yourself with timing the control inputs with weight shift application. All are dealt with by respecting the causes. I LOVE the Active Control Risers (ACRs). Carving turns without brakes is really nice. Very responsive handling which leads to much more fun on the maneuvers. Overall.....loving it!

Im very impressed, so next milestone is to migrate to china. 我的 太太 是 中国人...she comes from Dalian. So perhaps see you up in the sky - the world is a village 😂 happy landings 🙂

@@sunnyboy866 Mt YonAnShan near the town of Qianshanwu which is south of Hangzhou is a world class paragliding site. Lots of training going on there!

nice footage! i don't know how long your brake lines are but you look like braking a lot lots of the time. also, isn't better to take your brake handles in "dragon" style? more precise steering
