This is the official RUclips channel for KazTheMovieCollector. I'm a 24 year old man who collects VHS tapes, DVDs, Blu-rays, and video games. I also post videos of Emergency Alert System captures for the Central Puget Sound area of Washington state as well as various Emergency Alert System mocks/recreations.

EAS Required Monthly Test [10/17/2024]
The required monthly EAS test for Washington state on October 2024, as part of the Great Shakeout Earthquake Drill. Interestingly enough, Xfinity X1 relayed two different versions of this test.

A severe thunderstorm warning for south central King and east central Pierce counties in Washington state. Although this alert was outside of my area, I did encounter a thunderstorm about an hour after this alert was issued, though it wasn't classified as a severe thunderstorm, otherwise there would've been more than one alert in this video. A surprise Required Monthly Test from the Washington State Emergency Operations Center, with "Happy Friday" on its IPAWSCAP message. From what I heard according to members of the GWES Discord server, this was supposed to be an internal test, but it was accidentally set to broadcast to the public. The Xfinity X1 version of this test couldn't be included due to technical difficulties, my Toshiba DVD/VCR Combo recorder that was used to record it decided that the disc needed to be reformatted and wouldn't let me finalize it as a result, so from now on I'll use my HDMI capture device for that instead. Although the Xfinity X1 relay was from IPAWSCAP and therefore without alert audio, the Xfinity Legacy relay was from KIRO FM instead and had their alert audio. UPDATE: As of April 23rd, 2024, the AMBER Alert has been cancelled and the child has been found safe. Relayed on a Trilithic EASyPLUS EAS Encoder/Decoder. Alert received from KIRO FM radio 97.3. EAS Details Channel screen (seen at the beginning and end) made on a Video Messenger VM-3 character generator.

When the Washington State Emergency Operations Center issued this test, they didn't provide the narration for it. As a result, Xfinity only played the alert tones and the other stations generated their own narration for the test using the built-in Text-to-Speech engines on their EAS encoders. These are really good! You should do the 2023 test. It'd be funny to see it just put out Nationwide Test of the Emergency Alert System

Thanks for cleaning up and posting this. I was one of two people at the Analog Transmitter for this moment. Most places just pressed the OFF button, but the Chief Engineer, John, decided to use the PWR- button, which is why it gradually turns to snow. I’ll never forget.

Hi, I commented on another video of yours. I bought a EASyPLUS and was curious what cables/adapters the output CG uses to record it onto a computer. Also does that have audio included or how do I get the audio to the computer as well? Thank you.
The character generator outputs Composite video through a BNC connector. You can get a BNC-to-RCA adapter to connect this to the Composite video input of a capture device. The audio outputs are on the terminal blocks on the unit. You can use an RCA cable with one end stripped off to connect audio to your capture device. On the EASyPLUS unit, the ground (usually either bare copper or a black wire) of the wire goes to the ground terminal on one of the blocks while the signal (typically the same color wire as the RCA connector of your cable) goes to the audio output terminal, the RCA connector end goes to the capture device's audio input. Hopefully this makes sense to you.

@@Critical311 The BNC connector on the unit is female, the BNC-to-RCA adapters have a male BNC end that connects to the unit's BNC connector and a female RCA end where you plug in a standard RCA cable.

Over federal government likes to do such things and more on a early Friday evening. Most don't watch the news on a Friday evening. By Monday it's old news and forgotten. Look at my other comment here. Maybe it wasn't really a test. The Facebook post came from a woman in Lakewood WA near Fort Lewis.

Whats your process on capturing everything in time for the tests? This is really cool
For the Xfinity EAS tests, I record the legacy feed from my legacy cable box to a VHS tape on my VCR (not the Toshiba one mentioned in the description, as that one is in a different room where my X1 DVR is) and the X1 feed to either a DVD+RW disc on the Toshiba combo recorder or my HDMI capture device. I start the recordings a few minutes prior to when the test is scheduled to activate. For the local TV stations, I record those on my X1 DVR and use the HDMI capture device to grab them.

What purpose does the graphics synthesizer chip do in a PS2?
It is the graphics processor (GPU) of the PS2 console.

How do people catch eas on xfinity, eas is not apart of the timeline broadcast on xfinity meaning you can’t rewind to see the alert, and the dvr on xfinity does not record the alert if it came on while the dvr was recording
The EAS Details channel wiki entry on Fandom has a really helpful guide with how many cable system channels implement this and how to tune in. You may need a separate DVR.
