Dream A Little Dream Of Me Acoustic Cover For My Mama
On this morning 3 years ago I was asleep in my van out the front of my mothers house and was woken to the news that she'd passed away some time in the early morning, this song was playing in my head at the time.
I was never going to learn how to play it, i didn't even know how to finger pick but I ended up making a start a year later. I wanted to whistle at the end but i'm still terrible at it and didn't want to ruin my take, I tried to overdub some in but I really suck that bad at it I left it out.
Thanks for having a look,
Chris
P.S Happy Birthday Mama Cass!!

I'm Only Sleeping | Full Cover Version
Просмотров 7543 года назад
A home recording cover of The Beatles song I'm Only Sleeping. This is the first cover song Jake and I had recorded that started off as an experiment in July 2020. We had the Guitar, Bass and Cajon recorded when then Covid lockdown put a stop to it. I didn't record any of my bass playing, sorry. We've finally gotten around to completing it this month, March 2021. It was a heap of fun recording a...

Blue Moon Played on a Blue Moon 2020 Cover Version with Astrophotography
Просмотров 1563 года назад
My cover version of the classic song Blue Moon, inspired by Elvis's version with a touch of Chris Isaak's for the Halloween Blue Moon of 2020. All recordings and astrophotography by me, all recorded/filmed in the month of October 2020. I had to fight the clouds for most of the month so everything is not as clear as I'd liked and some stuff didn't make it in but it add a nice effect in parts. Th...
Im getting massive feed back from i dont have foot peddle though would help
Yes that's all good 'till you drop a g/pick in it, as there's to many places tor it hide, I've always found just an under saddle pietzo better,as there's less dust/traps 😊
The timbre and resonance didn't sound natural like finding sweet spot by placing condenser or ribbon mic closer to sounding hole. I'd prefer pickup that reproduce percussive finger beats landing on guitar body in fast tempo. Thanks a lot for your worthwhile efforts.
Journey, tech
Somebody needs to do a comparison between the journeyman , K&K, and chinese type tranducers....I bet everyone will be surprised. I've heard these types online and mine sounds better....the problem with stick on tranducers is you get the actual sound of a guitar (I've glued them on).....guitars are inherently thin. The guys who like thick sound usually like the under saddle piezio's.
I hear the transducers are all made the same ...from the 4.00 chinese to the K&K's. I use a high Z preamp from temu Q-12 model....18.00 and it runs off usb with a phone style battery. Works very good.....with a DD EQ I boost the bass and pull down the last two highs and the 200 hz. boost 800hz. I've used the 3 and 2 transducers types....chinese....they were all about 4.00. Feedback usually comes from 200 hz on my guitar....I play out with it every week at open mic's....not blazing loud but loud enough for a bar.
what's the brand name of that pickup bro? where is it made? thanks for posting
Hey man, thanks for watching. It's a no name Chinese thing. EBay search '3 transducer piezo pickup' and it should pop up.
sounds kinda radio ... :-/
So I know this is an old video, but for anyone who is just finding this piezo pickups have EXTRAORDINARILY high impedance. In order to smooth out the harsh tone bring life back into the sound you need to use some form of impedance matching. For example a DI with 10 meg-ohm impedance or something made specifically for piezo pickups. Trying to eq the tone to normal will only result in disappointment and frustration. Cheers for the video though!
Hey, thanks for the info. I should have known better than to plug it into an electric guitar amp. I have a small PA with super hi-z inputs and it sounds much better. I also have a Zoom acoustic pedal with a piezo setting that does the job.
Any more clarity by any chance?
What is a DI?
@@ChallengeTheNarrative stands for direct injection, it's an interface to let the acoustic guitar impedance match the input of your sound board or powered speakers
mount them more on the base side.
Why?
Nevermind, I just finished watching the video
Schatten Soundboard Transducer better
Under the watchful eyes of Mr Yamaha! 😂😅
Hello, thanks you for this very instructionnal video for me. I will receive mine this week and install them on my F330 Yamaha. I wonder how you have choose the piezos placement? Have you doing test on the outside of the body? (On the table) Have you try to install them under the bridge as the K&K's? More under the nuts/the strings. Cheers
Hey mate! You're welcome, thanks for the comment. Sorry for the late reply, I hope it worked out for you. Honestly I just guessed the placement in the end. I wanted to put them as close to the bridge as possible but there's too much bracing in the way and these transducers are physically too big to fit close. That's where the K&K shines as they have mini transducers.
@@chrisspeedofficial Hi, when the strings have been removed. I saw that there was not much room for microphones. I put them as far under the bridge as I could. I'm pretty happy with the result, I definitely need a preamp but my sound card provides it. what I wanted was a second source when recording a guitar with an external miking
@@evilarsen44 Glad to hear you're happy. That's the reason I did it, to have another source. I also use a room mic now which helps a lot.
Thanks 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏 Great information ℹ️ℹ️ℹ️ I'm gonna try them,,is the AXL good
Thank you and good luck!! Should be good, they're all pretty similar.
You should have started the test with it bare and flat with no effects.
I did.
Please tell me))) how much worse is it compered with k&k?)
I can't say as I haven't tried one sorry. I'm sure it has its place but I can't justify the price and would look into other options.
K&k is top notch. Well worth the price.
how to remove these pickups? won't it leave a mark on the instruments if it's a wood
They're cheap and use a cheap adhesive foam tape. Probably use something like a metal putty knife and be careful. If you're worried about it leaving a mark on the inside of your guitar then I'd look into a soundhole pickup that clamps into place.
Why did you know drill, and keep the strap post? I think the placement of the pickup did not favor base.
The input jack is also a strap post. Yes you are correct, using a electric guitar amp didn't help either.
Thanks! Is there a better quality version of these? Also, do I need a pre-amp or other devices with it? Great video!
Oh, I see you have a 7 band equalizer at 11:18. Nice
Hey! Thanks mate appreciate it! The better quality version is called the K&K Pure Mini. The transducers are small enough to glue under the bridge plate. Check out some videos, twoodfrd has a good install video. Some kind of preamp is recommend as they have a low output. I've plugged directly into the Hi-Z channel of a mixer or into an interface no problem. They do need tidying up with some EQ and compression. I have another pedal the Zoom AC-3, it has everything you need built in, even anti feedback which I've read can be an issue with piezos. Thanks again :)
Giving this a go tomorrow, cheers for the video. Good idea with the heatshrink.
Thank you and good luck!
God's not dead
Hey quick question. Does this work the same if you stick them inside the guitar?
Did you watch the video? They are supposed to be installed inside the guitar.
new guitarist here, i was wondering if it will work if i connect the output directly on my phone for garage band or bandlab. My electric guitar which has a magnetic pick up works if i directly connect it on my phone. will a piezo pick up also work the same way? Thanks! edit: btw, i use a splitter and a 6.5 to 3.5 converter to connect to my phone.
Hi, I have no experience plugging guitars into phones but if your electric guitar works then this will work the same. They are both low output passive pick ups. I can't say how good it will sound but you clean it up with a bit of EQ and compression. Experiment, double track the guitar, try one track with the piezo and the second with a mic, blend the two and pan left and right to give it some width. hope that helps, thanks for watching.
Koy, all you need is a I rig. Very cheap. Look on Amazon.
I rig.
nice. Helpful Video.
Glad it could help. Thank you!
Get a good bugera acoustic amp
I'll check them out, thank you.
Nice video, appreciate guitarist with technical aptitudes.
Thanks mate, appreciate your kind words.
Great job video.Sounds pretty sweet...eq good choice.God continued blessings and THANKS
Thank you!
Thanks for having a look at my video everyone, I wasn't expecting to get this many views. I have not yet finished recording or uploaded a song with this transducer pickup, I'll post a link here when I do. I've been taking a break and will be back soon. Thanks again.
Hey quick question. Does this work the same if you stick them inside the guitar?
Should have tried them on the outside first
go ahead, lawrence, and good luck with ungluing them from the top board, and you will then need even more luck to glue them under the board, since you already 'used' the glue on the top board; though it indeed makes sense to check them before one puts them into the guitar permanently. have fun
Glues cheap
Thanks for the video it’s the best one I’ve seen for this.
No problem mate, appreciate it!
Well done sounds good Thumbs up from Geelong 👍🏼🇦🇺👍🏼🇦🇺👍🏼 I have those Same transducers I don't know what to do with them
Thanks mate appreciate it! I haven't uploaded a song with that transducer yet. This one is with a mic. I purposely used really old strings and EQ'd it to sound dead. What are you trying to do with them?
Acoustic pickups always sound harsh thru an electric guitar amp. Even maton with AP5-pro sounds terrible on clean channel thru electric amp.
You're right. I should have just shown plugging it directly into an interface and using a simple EQ in my DAW. That's how most will use it and was my plan to use it in conjunction with a mic. Thanks for the feedback.
@@chrisspeedofficial no pun on the word feedback! is there a way to determine the best position for the 3 pickups, assuming struts aren't in the way, I understand these are not the greatest
@@banjoboy01 Try on the outside. Just hold them down in different positions. Hope that helps.
@@chrisspeedofficial I figure it's trial and error as well as playing technique, fingerpicking might have different results but I'll try it near the bridge
You can reduce the harshness of disc type piezo elements by mounting them with clear silicone. The thin layer of silicone between the wood and metal of the piezo, removes any air space and also provides a bit of cushion. The volume is slightly reduced, but not by enough to matter. Foam carpet tape might also work as a less permanent solution - or to experiment with placement. I haven't tried that yet.
You should check out magnetic pickup from skysonic. They are really great !
Will do! Thanks for the tip!
Bohdaino, this is not the same kind of pickup. The Skysonic is a electromagnetic pickup that uses magnets to get to sound from metal strings. What we have here is a transducer pick-up. It literally just picks up the vibrations from the SURFACE of the instrument. These two different types of technologies will have very a very different sound. In fact, this sort of "surface" type of pickup will actually translate more of the natural acoustic sounds of the instrument. That's why common pickups (like the Skysonic) always have a little but of a buzzy sounds. Same buzzing quality happens with violin pickups of this sort (i think, like a guitar, you plug into the hole of the violin.
@@Acoustic-Rabbit-Hole I have the skysonic pickup, no buzzing, pretty natural sound due to the mic, but yea everybody has their own preferences 🙂
How good is the AXL
Do you recommend the AXL

What is the brand of that pick up and specific model?
No name, made in China. I got mine from ebay, search "Piezo 3 transducer". Most online sites like Amazon, Wish etc will have it.
fun
