In general, the TI units are faster in response to inputs. This is seen when quickly switching between sonar, downscan, chart, and split screens ruclips.net/user/postUgkxeAxH15LxhjGlg5-CRYqjTGTEH0tbY4vk recommend The Hook units will show some lag on button pushes and screen switching. The big ticket item though is maps. If you install a mapping card such as Navionics or the free C-Map Genesis which has a lot of map detail, then moving around the map with the cursor or when running down the lake can lag significantly on the Hook units, but is seamless with the TI units.
At the question ? "So in my garage I’m not getting the option for the control I link. I just hooked everything up so idk if i need to be in the water for it to show or not" Your answer is : I did , make sure you have the gps puck or your heading sensor on as well. Then go through all your settings on your fish finder and there will be an option to turn it on Please can you explain more your answer ? Thank you
This was very helpful, I couln't figure out how to get to the screen that alllows you to control the trolling motor from the Helix unit after my remote ran out of juice! Thanks!

BC Conklin I did. Make sure u have the gps puck or your heading sensor on as well. Then go through all your settings on your fish finder and there will be an option to turn it on
Andrew, I have both of them. I have Pre 2017 Terrova and the 2017 BT Terrova both with I-Pilot Link. Yes I think it's worth the money. Let me just list the things that need to improve: Follow the contour around weed edges. The contour lines are not consistent enough around weed edges. This is where I would make a manual route or use auto chart live to improve it. Cords wrapping multiple times around the shaft. This is a limitation with Power Drive, Terrova, and Ulterra. Ultrex is a cable steer with electric assist, so the cable will never wrap multiple times. Spot lock has a feature built in to prevent this.
Or just press the power button and regardless if the I-Pilot Link controls is set to on or off you can get all of that as well. I do it that way because I set the cruise control and then get out.
Why doesn’t my unit show the I pilot on the menu like yours does ?

Are you positive you have an I-Pilot Link and not an I-Pilot trolling motor?

damn the screen size alone on the 55 kills the new one.
Does helix 7 g3n supports the follow the contour?
Yes it does
When your boat is on the trailer traveling to a lake, do you remove your helix unit while traveling on the road?
Interested in an Ulterra, hows does the transducer connector the trolling motor. As far as wireing goes
You can connect directly to helix with an adapter or you can go through a hub
So in my garage I’m not getting the option for the control I link. I just hooked everything up so idk if i need to be in the water for it to show or not
Jason Clark same here sitting in my garage trying to find out how to get controls
BC Conklin if u don’t have good signal for the gps it won’t be able to link
Jason Clark Ok thanks did u ever get yours to work ?
BC Conklin I did. Make sure u have the gps puck or your heading sensor on as well. Then go through all your settings on your fish finder and there will be an option to turn it on
Jason Clark Ok thanks for the help.
Have this and Lowrance. Never buying a piece of crap like this ever again. And I've been using electronics since the Lowrance Green Box.
do they had that on the minn kota terrova ipilot link system
Does the helix 5 have this option?
Andrew Stevens no, new helix 7 g3n is the smallest with networking capabilities
What model is the Minn Kota I pilot looking to upgrade my trolling motor? I have the Hummingbird Helix 9 SI G2N..
Raymond Torrez you can get terrova, ultrex and ulterra models that’ll come with ipilot link.
Is it worth the money? I've heard quite a few complaints.

How long is the cable needed to connect the helix to to the Minn kota? Possible to run to console like 10 feet?
Nice
