Can you help on how to repair the ac recycle vent.? In won't close well I always get gas fumes for the exhaust from the car in front of me.

I had this exact same problem on my 2015 CX-9 about 18 months after purchasing it new. A huge fail on the design by Mazda. I took it to the dealer for diagnosis and they vacuumed the water out from the tube and told me I needed a new motor and resistor pack, not covered by Mazda or my extended warranty! I paid them the $129 diagnostic fee and headed straight for amazon. I was able to get the motor but had to go to car ID to find a Sub-$80 price for the resistor pack. Replaced it all. I also drilled an emergency drain hole about an inch below the resistor pack . (Locating the resistor pack where it can be submerged in water is a super fail by Mazda .) it has been working fine until now. Summer of 2022, I heard water sloshing in the dashboard again. Soon after the fan started whining and slowing down on the left hand turns. Finally, checked the passenger side and floorboard was wet. I have a large wet vac so was not able to get the hose sealed against the drain hole. I managed to suck out a couple of cups of water. But 3 days later the sloshing and motor whining were back again. I am very keen to find a more permanent solution to this problem. I am thinking about building my own drain hose inside the car and drilling a additional hole for draining. If I use a rubber hose then I could easily remove it for cleaning. Time will tell. This design flaw can create expensive problems very quickly. Good luck everyone!

With my 09 cx9, I usually will have to go under the suv with a vacuum to drain it out and unclog the drip pipe. Otherwise eventually I would have to do this every year until I just started vacuuming twice a year.

I have a 2015 cx9. Is this why, when I pull the fan out, it it will haul ass like normal. But when it’s screwed in there it goes really slow to where you can barely free it? Stupid ac drain plugging

91 degrees yesterday, my resistor needs replaced. But not too clear (for my limited understanding) how to unclip fuse box to get to resistor!

I had this same issue on my 2015 CX-9. My blower fan was squeaking so I bought an aftermarket fan. Installed it, but it wouldn't turn on. I put the old one back in, and it also would not turn on. At some point during my install, I fried something. I checked the relays, and it wasn't them. The only thing left was the resistor noted in this video. I couldn't figure out how to remove the fuse box that's blocking it, and thankfully found this video! I was about to take it into the shop. After the video showed me how to remove the fuse box I was able to reach the resistor. It's MUCH easier to get the old one out using a stubby socket wrench, and even with that it was a pain. Anyway, great job on this video!

Hello and thank you. I had the same problem in my 2012 CX-9. Before I could get the water sound and leak checked out the fan died on the 1st 90 degree day of the year. I followed your instructions and replaced the blower first and it worked, so I can return the resistor. I got under the car with a wet vac found the drain plug ( another video) and I hope that I'm good for the summer. Thanks again for saving me some $$$$!

I changed out my resistor in about 5 minutes, from the time I opened the glove box 'til the time I shut it again, job complete. Thanks.

Would or could someone please tell me why Mazda drains moisture/water into the blower motor housing? Is it that they think its just a few drops and it will evaporate fast? Sometimes its not a few drops, but a shoe soaking adventure. Why do they not drain it away with the evaporator housing drain tube? BTW, I have read threads that state grass and leaves have clogged their blower motor fan. There is no way for all that to get in there without a bit of help from a little furry friend with a tail. Yes, a mouse made a nest in there, it's warm and when one doesn't spin the fan the mouse just makes it's nest a bit more comfy. So run your heater once in awhile in the summer and run the ac in the winter. By running the ac it puts the system under pressure and keeps the o-rings saturated with oil. The heater in the summer keeps the critters out and makes sure your heater core is flowing properly.

Those parts are chineese knockoff. They dont last long. You need to buy mazda oem parts, which cost a lot more

Thank you sooo much for this tutorial. Thankfully the only thing I had to change was the blower motor. It was hard to insert the conector in and I also think the quality of the motor is not that great. Thank you again, it was easy.
